  1. Nice. Oasis, (my favorite local liqueur store) here I come!
  2. Never had Jameson, but I'll have to pick some up now. I've just recently entered the world of fine whiskey. I've always been a Jack Daniels man, but have wanted to venture out to other brands. Is Makers Mark strong? I got some Buffalo Trace a few weeks ago, and man did it have a kick! A little too strong for my taste.
  3. Nah, it was a friendly thumbs up. This would be the up yours.
  4. Inappropriate sweeping generalizations are part of the VC etiquette.
  5. You are right that the quality of customer service is much higher at the local stores. At Guitar Center, your dealing with arrogant hipsters who think they know everything about gear when they don't know squat. Also, Guitar Center doesn't do repairs (well at least mine doesn't). My amp dies, I have to take it to the independent store.. But when it comes to gear, strings, etc., I have to go with GC or MF.
  6. I support local music stores, and it's a shame that Guitar Centers are popping up everywhere causing most of the independent music stores to go out of business, but in these tough economic times, it's a no brainer for the consumers. They can either go to the Guitar Center (or Musicians Friend) that is cheap and has a great selection (and will beat any competitor price), or they can go to the local independent music store that has a shitty selection, and everying is WAY more expensive. I can get a pack of strings from Musicians Friend for 4 bucks, the same pack at the local store is 9 bucks...
  7. Exactly... I've always thought that about the people woo hooing at the quiet parts.. "if I scream now, Jeff will just be hearing MY voice instead of the mass of voices..."
  8. From their latest mailing list email: Woo hoo!
  9. I keep thinking they will throw in a few southern dates in March (since it's pretty much empty) but they haven't....
  10. Yep, like froggie said, it's all about the atmosphere. I had seats on the front row in Charleston a few years ago, and they were so close that we were practically on the stage.. If we stood up, we'd pretty much be all up in Jeffs grill.. So we sat the whole show, until the last couple songs when everyone in the place piled up front, so we of course had to stand. I have front row balcony seats for Savannah, and planning to sit.
  11. Not here to bash the show, but I just got tired of asking myself "ok, what the fuck is going on???".. So I don't watch anymore. Can't they just be found already...
  12. Love it!! Was expecting it to be quite a bit different than their other stuff since a lot of the reviews have suggested that, but it's that same old Dr. Dog sound that I love.
  13. Nope just one tune, "Shadow People".
  14. Yeah, Stereogum is waiting until the end of the day to post it so they can get all of the traffic.. It's great to see Dr. Dog getting that much hype.
  15. The sad part is half of the country probably doesn't know who The Who is except for "hey isn't that the song from CSI: Miami" Never been the biggest fan of the Who, but I enjoyed the performance (as much as one can enjoy 70 year old dudes trying their best to Rock).. The lights around the stage were cool.
  16. Bettie White getting tackled was probably the only one that caused me to LOL. But yes, the Simpson one was excellent. Oh yeah, and the ad with the people talking on cell phones with autotune on their voice was funny..
  17. I've been refreshing the Stereogum site almost obsessively all morning... Can't wait to hear the new tune.
  18. GREAT new Indie/Pop band. Going to see them next weekend.
  19. I know I know... Wishful thinking..
  20. Not fair to the people that live 12+ hours away from Chicago... Well, I guess I can wish for a reunion tour.
