Very cool indeed! I always thought Jeff and Bragg weren't exactly on friendly terms with each other.. But I guess it's a case of letting go of the past and just rocking out a great song together. Great find!

Yeah, the production of the album bothers me some. It's a little too reverby to the point where the drums get lost in the mix.. It's a little hard to listen to at times, but still a good record. I'll have to checkout Gold Motel.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno - Finally saw this movie. Holy crap it had some of the funniest one liners I've ever heard... I'm becoming a big fan of Craig Robinson. He's really not that great of an actor but I think that's what makes him so funny. Few memorable quotes:

Been listening to them quite a bit lately. My wife loves them and I think they are pretty good. The lyrics get on my nerves a little bit though, they are very childish but I guess they are supposed to be that way..... Good summer record, but if I'm in the mood for Surf/Indie/Rock, I'd rather put on Surfer Blood any day. But I think I'll still go and see them in Atlanta in Sept. The Drunken Unicorn sounds like a nice small venue, just the way I like them.

A friend of mine is driving up all the way from Columbia SC for this show. His first Wilco show.

I saw them open for Camera Obscura in Asheville a couple months ago. I really enjoyed the show. The singer was having some pitch problems, but other than that they rocked. Plus the keyboardist wasn't bad looking at all..

Definitely prefer playing with a band. There's just nothing like the loudness and rockiness of live drums, bass, and guitar.. But playing solo is fun as well. More intimate, more freedom, but there can also be a little more pressure... Screw ups stand out a lot more when it's just you.

Yeah, once you're hooked, you're hooked for life... All of their records are great. Easy Beat is probably my favorite though.. It just has that homegrown, basement sound... Plus there isn't a single clunker on the record. Every song is excellent..

I definitely see your point... But it's still unfortunate... Frank is one of the best song writers in rock history, and it's a shame to see that talent wasted. Oh well.. We got 4 great albums out of them.

Extract - Not so good.... Had some funny moments (although they were all in the previews), but it was just overall kind of meh... It was supposed to be dark humor, but just a little too uncomfortable at times (and I'm a big fan of dark humor).. Mike Judge reached the pinnacle of his movie making career with Office Space, and his other movies have just been meh...

True, but that's about as north as you can get when it comes to the south.. A six hour drive for us South Carolinian's, even more for Georgians, a little less less for North Carolinian's, and so on.... I guess I should say deep south.. I really should have just bitten the bullet and drove to Nashville.. Think they played in Alabama too. Oh well, they'll come eventually...
-
New fall tour, still no Southern dates.. I'm confused as to why they have completely bypassed the south on two full tours now... It can't be because of crowd draw because they packed The Orange Peel in Asheville last year...

No kidding. Who knows what the hold up is... We all know that Mr. Black can crank out the tunes. He's released nearly 20 albums since the breakup of Pixies.

I Might as well have some gear geek topics too..

I'll second the RAT, but I prefer the original RAT or RAT II. -
Well yes of course. Prince's solo is one of the best, but Clapton literally made his guitar gently weep.... Not an easy task.

In order of awesomeness: 1. Surfer Blood - Astro Coast - Definitely #1 best thing musically that happened to me this year. And seeing them live was the icing on the cake. 2. Dr. Dog - Shame Shame - Not their best work, but still a great album by a GREAT band. 3. Band Of Horses - Infinite Arms - Also not their best work, but a nice southern rock summer record. 4. Black Keys - Brothers - Absolutely obsessed with this record when it first came out. But I guess I wore it out because I haven't listened to it in a while. Plus I got bummed when their show in Asheville sold out so fast.. A

Not a basketball fan, but I just had to comment that this Lebron James wank-fest made me completely sick. I work for a well known Sports Apparel/Footwear company, so ESPN is broadcasted 24/7 on the CC TV's.... I swear, for over a week there hasn't been a single moment that they weren't talking about this douchebag... Why is Lebron in bed with ESPN? Did he pay them or something? Or just nothing better to talk about?

Prince has never really been my cup of tea either, but that is definitely one of the greatest guitar solo's every performed in the history of music.

The Holy Grail truly is the Holy Grail of reverb.... I absolutely love mine. I can get pretty much any kind of reverb sound I want.. Haven't touched the reverb knob on my Fender amp since I got the grail.

I remember watching that video as a kid and my mom saying the same thing "so many things wrong with that video"... They had to have been half joking when they made it...

Weezer - The Blue Album Weezer - Pinkerton Interpol - Turn On Your Bright Lights Pixies - Doolittle Wilco - Summerteeth, YHF, AGIB (it's interesting how Being There is probably my favorite album, but to me it's not flawless)
-
Definitely looking forward to it! One of my all time favorite shows. I always thought it was underrated when it came out and many people didn't give it a chance.. Glad to see it's back and hopefully they'll be many more seasons to come.

Fantastic. Best Toy Story movie by far. Kids loved it, my wife loved it, even I got teary eyed (and that's saying a lot). Five stars...
-
Wow, Jedi was my favorite one.. I agree with Gadfather though. I wouldn't say Godfather 3 sucked, but it was definitely not in the same ballpark as the first two. And I never could get into the Lord of the Rings.. But I plan to try again since everyone always raves over those movies. But back to the topic, I'm taking the kids this weekend to see Toy Story 3. From the reviews, sounds like I'll enjoy it as much as they will.

Thanks. Yeah the wife and I were ecstatic when we turned the page to our pic yesterday..
