  1. I'll buy you a beer, just for all the great headlines over the years. Well I hope Howe's group firms it up before Tuesday, but I have never seen Giant Sand before so I'll probably be happy enough.
  2. What an abysmal mess we leave to our children.
  3. Of course, Jules is talking about THIS thread being closed, so I moved his post in here. Someone closed this thread as it had unneccessarily turned into a fight. Many of those posts have been made invisible so you can't see them now. But the argument continued despite a warning, and so the thread was locked. Please anyone feel free to start another thread about Wall Street's woes to continue this discussion.
  4. Sounds like a gigantic fun time, Jay, except for the heat part, and then the scary Ike rainy part. You know, this rock tourism thing has it's dangerous side.
  5. No, I can't tell you where to buy this yet. My friends in Ft.Wayne (all huge fans) went together and ordered a bunch of copies from Australia where it is released today. So I don't know when our physical copy will arrive in the USA, but probably before the US release. However, I can help you listen to it.
  6. there's a lot of people out there having a hard time tonight amongst the whispers of revolution and shouts of hang on tight a lot of crippled hearts out there, some will never mend losing our patience and losing too many good men some say its the end times and some say its all just begun some are hiding in the churches and some are hiding in the gun some are thinking its extinction, some are swearing by salvation nothing nostradamus or relating revelations you come on down, you spiral down come down well within this regency you can put it down and even jot it down reinvent some new form of
  7. We need a political satire song from the Singing Nerd!
  8. Another NPR video installment from Joey Burns & John Convertino in Tucson. 8 min. "Red Blooms" and "Writer's Minor Holiday" Nice to hear more from John Convertino. It's usually Joey doing the talking. http://www.npr.org/blogs/allsongs/2008/09/...o_part_two.html
  9. Yeah, this is a good place to stop ... another 50 pages, another slow Saturday! Start another anybody.
  10. Pitchfork hit the nail on the head on their review and the 8.3 is right-on. And Kyle, you're right. They probably won't sell out. You know, I have read several interviews in the past and again with "Carried To Dust" PR where Joey Burns mentions Calexico is much more popular in Europe than US. I'm not sure why this happens. What is it about European music fans that makes them appreciate Calexico more than US? They're playing at The Metro in November with Bowerbirds and I might be more tempted to see a full headling show to hear more of "Carried To Dust" than the free show at Pritzger
  11. Definitely. This is beautiful. Lou, are you going to the free Pritzger show in 2 weeks? I think it's at 6:00 p.m. Thu Sep 25
  12. Thats just so wrong. Vibes to Peter Buck on getting it back. I'll never forget the guy standing next to me at the Robyn Hitchcock and The Venus 3 show. We were standing in front of Peter Buck right at the stagefront at this tiny place in Detroit, and this guy next to me kept going on and on and on talking to me about the Rickenbacker, he was just in awe of it, being so close to it. I, as usual, wasn't aware of these kinds of things.
  13. Beautiful! Thanks for the close-up view of the inlay.
  14. Well, yeah it was yesterday but I forgot to press "post new topic" ... so happy a little belated birthday to you! Hope it was a real sweet day!
  15. How about a vc grandneice? Brand new in my family 3 days ago: Baby Girl Alyssa with big brother Michael.
  16. Bobbob, someone posted this link a few days ago here, and this one is very disturbing to me about McCain and his temperament. It is an interview he is giving to Time magazine reporter and I think they're on a plane because it's sort of hard to hear the audio, but I thought it was important to listen to, to hear the way he condescends and refuses to talk. This is not presidential campaign behavior. It's not presidential behavior, IMO. http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmem...ses_to_defi.php ?????
  17. The problem here is that McCain is refusing to do interviews with certain people. In the recent incident with CNN's Campbell Brown who tried repeatedly to get an answer from Tucker Bounds (McCain campaign spokesman), who took several attempts to stop spinning his answer away from the real question she asked, he is now refusing to be interviewed by Larry King At least Obama granted the interviews with opposing interviewers. Here's the interview
