  4. My best friend told me she heard 'Sky Blue Sky' at The Container Store the other day. And I heard 'Kamera' at Longhorn today while I just so happened to be wearing a Wilco tee AND sweatshirt
  5. I was just wondering what people thought who read the series and saw the movie, whether they thought the movie did the book justice, I guess. Like I said, I COMPLETELY preferred the book.
  6. Back in July my best friend was like "Ellen, you HAVE TO read this!". I'm said I didn't want ANYTHING to do w/ stories about teenage vampires!!! Not to mention, that I HATE to read...I know I'm lame. I read the 1st 500 or so page book in 2 days and there I was on vacation in New Hampshire STUCK because the 2nd book was back in MA I'm nearing the end of the 4th now
  7. Sorry for being late... hope you had GREAT one!!!
  8. It was alright but I MUCH preferred the books. Tho, I will tell you...I have been thinking and dreaming about them much more now that I have an actual visual in my head...*sigh* I went to a midnight showing and I don't remember EVER seeing that many people at a movie that was showing so late and yes, I and my friends were pretty much the oldest ones there Edward and Bella were great. There was some cheesy acting and I didn't like a couple of their choices for certain roles i.e. Jacob Jasper scared the beegesuz out of me and Eric was annoying. The scenery was beautiful. The fathers cam
  9. I have to say sometimes it is hard to help tho. I have a young friend who has SEVERE issues. One night he got bad enough that I did take him to Emergency Mental Health. I stayed in the waiting area and only I and his biological father were allowed to visit (per my friend's request) while the hospital did what they needed to do. I couldn't get him to stay in therapy and I can't get him to ask for help even now. It sucks, really. He won't go to or talk to his mother or step-father. While I was in the waiting room his mom, whom I've never met, finally showed up at about 8am. I had slept overnig
  10. Happy Birthday girl! Hope motherhood is treating you well...
  11. Apologies for being part of the hijacking of the thread... but no, I don't make A LOT of money and yes, I heard many people from different income levels can find a comfortable home there. Also, an hour to get to Chicago is much better to me than the 17 hours it would take me now. I've seen some of the city but not all I WANT to see...YET!!! I too have a friend in Downers Grove which is why I asked about it. I've travelled through many of the suburbs and Darien, Bolling Brook, Downers Grove and Willowbrook all look the same to me. I have many pictures of those cool water towers I wouldn'
  12. I was just telling my friends yesterday how recently Naperville was voted one of the best, if not THE best, city to live in the US. I would LOVE to move there....have the suburban life for the kiddos but not be too far from Chicago SOME-day...*sigh*
  13. No, but you know how teenagers, particularly girls, tend to run the music sales.
  14. The "rare occurrence" was in reference to the soundtrack hitting No. 1 before the movie even opened.
  15. Happy Birthday girl!!! Thanks for being such a great friend and lending a shoulder and ear!!! Hope healing comes to you soon!!! Have a great year!!! Love, Ellen
  16. Said to be a rare occurrence... http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart_wat...cked-the-chart/ Thanks to Iron & Wine, Muse, etc
  17. 'Jeannie's Afraid of the Dark' - Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner Although, I'm partial to the Robbie Fulks version myself. Her two little feet would come running into Our bedroom almost every night Her soft little face would be wet from her tears And her little heart pounding with fright She'd hold out her arms, then she'd climb in beside us In her small voice, we'd hear her remark "Mommie and Daddy, can I sleep here with you 'Cause Jeannie's afraid of the dark" One day in the summer, we took some flowers To place on some old family graves Jeannie said, "Mommy, ain't it dark in the gro
