Anton Chigurh is a bad man. McCarthy is a hero of sorts - to me. If you havent already, you must read Blood Meridian and The Road. Reading On the Road and The Road simultaneously would actually be quite interesting, sort of a before and after - hopefully, way way after. It would certainly make the existential, sort of self involved spleening of one Mr. Kerouac sound somewhat silly by comparison.
