  1. Dont even compare YHF to SBS .

    Why not? You have.

SBS is a great album. You obviously don't like it. Hey that is fine. A lot of people here think it is best thing since man invented fire. You are not going to change anyones mind with petitions to go back to 1997. We are not going to change your mind.

My suggestion is go put on Summerteeth, and listen to what you like instead of bashing those that like things that are different from you. Make your petition, cause that will work.

  2. Your post made me think of this Dilbert I saw today

I don't want to be mean or troll here, but for Christsakes, I couldn't get through your message. Paragraphs are great things. Brevity as well.

I mean from what I can tell is that this song speaks to you, which is great. I am glad that this song has helped you with your depression and all that. I am glad that you have found an outlet in this forum to put your thoughts together. Depression is a terrible thing if anything you do helps that depression great.

You have a beautiful child, for one do your best to connect with that.

  5. Last night I took a trek down to Atlanta to see Rocco Deluca open for (ewwww) Matt Kearny, and during the change over from the Feeling to Rocco, they played "Heavy Metal Drummer" over the loud speakers! I flipped out and started jumping up and down (and pissed off the trixies beside me), but it was fun! My friend ollie tried to video my recation...

    Anyway, wilco is everwhere!

If I was a Matt Kearny fan I would hate you

  8. Geez, simmer down, Kev. I said you had some relevant points.

I didn't mean to come off as bitter, I just wanted to let you know where I was coming from. Plus I have been up working since 2:30 am already and my brain is fried so I might come back Monday and look at this post and say WTF?

The overarching sentiment in my post is that TT5B was a major disappointment. I will listen to the new album, but I am not holding out hope for it. Hey I might be suprised.

  9. Who asked for it? I didn't, but thanks for the insightful comments, anyway.

I believe the sub title to this post is "bring on the 'they're so old...they suck...who?' posts." So to me that pretty much says, "hey I want to hear your comments on why this new album is gonna suck." Or atleast that is what I read at 2:30 in the morning.

  10. I generally don't like to post negative comments in threads, but you asked for it.

The question I have for y'all is, "do the Beasties Boys matter any more?" There was a time when popular music seemed to rise and fall with what they did. Now I think time as exposed them for the one note act they really are. Don't get me wrong they made some great music (Paul' Boutique being one of my favorites), but TT5B was an awful attempt at anything remotly interesting. The lryics are quasi - political rants that make the songs to serious and suck the fun out of songs and the band. When did we ask the Beasties to save us? And musically it was no better then License to Ill which they made when they were teenagers.

I would like to bring up the case of the SNL skit Lazy Sunday, which I think really showed us how lame the Beasties have become. Andy Samberg and Chris Parnell did a better job of doing the "Beastie Boys" then Beasties did with TT5B.

I do not have high hopes for this album, mainly cause in the press release they used "sick" way to many times. It might show that yes they are gonna bring the fun back to their songs, but it worries me that they slamed the same joke a dozen times in jsut a few words. It makes me think they have just lost the creative spark that made them so great.

Califone - Quicksand and Cradle Snakes

Ben Folds - Songs for Silverman

    Mike Doughty - Haughty Melodic
