  1. Remember when it was an issue when Clinton was criticized for not having Press Conferences? Or how about when there was just the hint of Clinton using her position as Sec of State to get money for her charitable organization? Or what about when she was too close to banks and gave a speech at Goldman Sachs? Man it seem like everything Trump used to disparage Clinton during the campaign he is now doing as PEOTUS (but to a greater and an actual extent.) I have said it before, but for anyone who voted Trump, you are a sucker. You have been fooled by the greatest con man in history. And Amer
  2. The main difference between the Yellow Journalism of the late 19th / early 20th centuries and today is that the only place people really go their news was from newspapers. And the publishers themselves made a effort to get better. But now, with declining sales, people do not get their news from papers any more. Furthermore most people get their news from the internet, where traffic and revenue is driving by clicks, rather then content. A long expose on the failings of a Trump administration and its ties to the Russian government, simply are not going to get as many hits as the latest Kim K
  3. A Trump presidency is the final nail in the coffin of journalism. We live in a post truth, post fact reality.
  4. this whole Russian thing (and the whole Trump thing in general) proves to me the GOP is more about staying in power then actually abiding by principals and working for the American people. At times like these I really wish Hixter hadn't run off. I generally saw him as a true conservative. I wonder what he thinks of what Trump is doing right now. Heck I would take a chime in form Doctor B.
  5. I think everyone who voted Trump will soon be singing this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_b6A9yzJP20 I mean really how many of his campaign promises has he walked back on? It is clear that that this man is only president for one person and that is himself.

  7. Man I love you Joe, you are probably one of the best political minds every, but you should have run for president in 2016 not wait until 2020. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/joe-biden-run-2020_us_5846c4aee4b055b313992725 A 78 year old man will not get the youth vote.
  8. I think the count is up to 7. Funny thing is, the electoral college was specifically put in place so that it would stop an unqualified person becoming president. As the constitution was originally written they had a lot of barriers to having direct representation elected by the people. Really only the House was intended to be a true democratic representation. The founders were a bunch of elitists and really didn't trust the common folk to elect the right type of people to run this country. Heck, when the constitution was written you had to be white, male and a property owner to vote.
  9. At this point there is nothing this man could do to stop him from becoming president. Like he said he could shoot someone and his approval numbers could go up. Trump loyalists are so ingrained that their media is the only one that tells them the truth, that even if he shot someone one fifth avenue, while getting a BJ from Ivanka, simultaneously giving a Nazi salute, and taking money from foreign investors, the far right media would tell its followers that he was doing it for the good of American and just trying to make it great again. Trump voters got suckered, they will continue to get
  10. What a thin skinned asshole. You are the President-elect of the United States. The media should look into your business dealings, the media should look into what you do and what you say. It is their job. They should have done 18 months ago. It is not like you have a pompous billionaire questioning your legitimacy as an American Citizen at every turn. Maybe then you would have something to complain about. This has to be some sort of parody, or dark comedy. What this man says is so unreal.
  11. How incredibly thin skinned this man is. Between this and his SNL "tweets" recently it shows that he truly lacks the character and understanding to do this job well. It is amazing not only how thin skinned he was with the Hamilton tweet, but how completely tone deaf he was when writing it. He has the gall to mention safe spaces? When people are carrying out hate crimes in his name and he offers nothing more than a milquetoast, "Stop it." Ugh. It will be a long four years.
  12. Hillary Clinton probably feels the same way.
  13. Chaney was a puppet master, pulling the strings of GWB. Pence is different. He will actually be doing the day to day stuff that a president does. I honestly think Trump does not want to be doing that type of stuff.
  14. I think the press and the American people are making a big deal about this is because we have no idea what kind of president Trump will be. He has never held elected office, through out the campaign his "policy" statements have been half formed ideas that seemingly contradict one another and tend to change based upon his mood. The only sense of what type of president we will get is by looking at those he surrounds himself with. So far with Bannon, Rudy, Higbe, it doesn't look good. As for Pence. He will have unprecedented power as VP. I would imagine he would do the most day to day bori
  15. But isn't that just a tad disingenuous? The non voter complains about something they could have actually had a changing. It is like the dude who complains about olives on their pizza, who said nothing when it was ordered. Olives are the worst.
  16. Actually it says nothing. A no vote says nothing. We can speculate, we can say we think this is what they mean, but we have no way of knowing what these people want. We do not know what these 42% want. We don't know if it was a protest, or laziness, or what. It is a sea of nothing. Meaningless in the conversation. We can only guess, which is bad. Why should anyone care what the non voters think? They can't be bothered with their obligations, why should politicians or people be bothered with them? Fucking millennials.
  17. Voting IMHO is an obligation. Of course you the right not to vote, but it doesn't lessen the obligation. Voting shows that you are engaged in the public process. Without this engagement our leaders have no way of knowing what the public wants and thus they cater to the people who did vote. I think the percentage of eligible voters who did not vote was something like 42%. Now we don't know if this group would have voted for Clinton, Trump or Harambe the Gorilla. By voting you are being counted. As a thought exercise, let's say the that 42% did not vote because they did not like either on
  18. Honestly, I don't remember saying I don't like name calling. But I guess just keep saying that and it must be true. And I am old and my memory is not what it used to be. There is a difference and important one that I would like to make a distinction about. Staying home on election day makes you a coward. Going to the polls, voting for a third party candidate, or a write in vote, or just a refusal to pick a candidate is not cowardice. You are at least participating. You are making your voice known that you do not like any candidate. But not bothering to walk yourself to your polling pl
  19. I did? I don't remember saying that. But hey, I guess you know. I am good at name calling, as well? I figured I was pretty bad at it. I guess it ok not to vote then. Non-voters are great! They totally have a say in our government and it is good they didn't vote. Yeah non-voters. They proved their bravery and worthiness in society, by sitting out of the most fundamental and basic tenants of our government, representation. Good for you non-voters! You are the freaking best.
  20. This is my point all along. Which started out with the protesters being called babies or sour grapes or something ridiculous. I understand how the electoral college works. I understand that come January Trump will be the President of the United States. Responsible for bringing this country together. To effectively do this, he and the Republicans need to understand they did not get the majority of the votes cast for President, Senate, and the House of Representatives. They need to understand why the people are protesting and why they are unhappy. They do not need to implement liberal pol
  21. You keep bringing up these hypotheticals, if this city was taken out, if this group didn't vote, if the electoral college was this, etc. We can't guess what would have happened, all we can really do is look at what did happen. The fact remains, of the votes that were cast, a majority of them went against not only Trump, but Republican Party. I am not saying the outcome of the election should be changed, but the party that won the election needs to understand. That is it. But clearly it won't. A better sports metaphor is a basketball team scored more points, but its opponent was giv
  22. No, I will not because it is a correct statement (but of course we are now arguing semantics, which is dumb). The majority of Americans voters do not agree with the policies of the Republican party. Those who did not vote do not get to be counted in this exercise and in IMHO they are worthless cowards. Why do we care about what the non-voters think anyway, they don't care to participate in this. Thanks to jff and replacements75 for jumping in as well.
