  1. If you remember from my original post on the matter I did say the facts are facts and it is a troubling statistic. However with 25% not offering an opinion it adds more to think about in the poll. You know there is nuance. The poll cannot be taken black and white. The full study, as I said before, shows really we tend to fear or dislike what we don't understand. But of course those comments can get you compared to a cartoon character.
  2. There is certain amount of irony there
  3. I hate mustard in all its forms. So brats and all sausages are naked as God intended them.
  4. I can't imagine feeling that level of vitriol towards anyone. Especially a baseball player.
  5. Anyone who uses a mustard based sauce hates America.
  6. Good job, instead of make a substantial argument just steal a joke random from a TV show. Which as it appears you do not fully understand the point the TV show nor the arguments people have made here. I guess you just want to "F them all to death."
  7. Well there is that. Guess another pointless thing to consider with gun control.
  8. Jesus you guys. You can't just say shit like that with nothing to back it up.
  9. You and your graphs. What is not shown in that graph (or not directly pointed out) is 25% of respondance had no opinion or did not know. Which is a huge number. That should not be disregarded and if you look at the poll as I first did you see one bar is bigger than the other and that is it. And for those of you who want a full picture (not just a simplified version) here is the study and all the numbers https://d25d2506sfb94s.cloudfront.net/cumulus_uploads/document/vcc1994e12/tabs_HP_Islam_20151207.pdf https://d25d2506sfb94s.cloudfront.net/cumulus_uploads/document/z1kr95nn8q/topli
  10. So when I was freaking out about Trump and (this very thing) a week or so back and you among others were telling me to calm down (in so many words). I guess we finally reached the tipping point on what you find troubling. He pushed the GOP race so far right and now rhetoric like this is acceptable.
  11. No you don't, but you see increasingly tougher drunk driving laws to stop a person from driving drunk. But to further expound on your analogy it is illegal to sell alcohol without a license and illegal to sell high proof alcohol, in some areas you can't sell alcohol at all. There are all kinds of laws surrounding alcohol. And in fact there is an organization called MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) who promote the responsible use of alcohol. What the hell are you talking about? We are extremely hostile to these "illiberal" places. We have been in some sort of conflict in the Mi
  12. Jee sure is interesting how context can affect a stated fact.
  13. This is interesting. It really shows the mind of the GOP. While it is good to see the GOP attack and rebuke the rhetoric of Trump, but disheartening to see they would still support him if he was the nominee. http://mashable.com/2015/12/08/donald-trump-republican-nomination/#jJLJ19oTxaqO And really Huckabee, any Republican is better than Clinton? I always joked the Right would vote for Hitler if he had an R after his name. I guess I am not too far off. Props to Sen. Graham for being a stand up sensible human.
  14. I can only assume because it looks fucking cool and you feel like a cool mother fucker shooting shit. Or maybe it's bacon cooking properties* https://youtu.be/EaZGaJrd3x8 *full disclosure I don't what type of firearm Ted Cruz used.
  15. Yes, the response from the GOP has been very good, glad to see it. Now let's what happens in the polls. I guess full on Fascism is too much for the GOP establishment.
  16. Here is my problem. I do not doubt the facts. Yes out of the 900 Syrian refugees polled 13% of them support ISIS. That is a troubling statistic. But you like every other article I have read with that statistic, has used as a reason to stop the settlement of Syrian refugees. It is a statistic that has been cherry picked from a long scholarly article (which frankly was a bit dull) on the overall Arab opinion of ISIS. And though he did not name this study by name I think Mr. Trump has read this or more than likely some right wing with this information. It is a complex paper that cannot be
  17. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-muslim-immigration-us_5665f75de4b072e9d1c7252b Seriously? This moron has to be stopped.
  18. Well I honestly thought about not asking that, in fear of being told that calling people out on the internet is bad form. But you know I am pretty honest when it comes to my links. When they come from the liberal media, it is blatantly obvious. I don't try to hide the context of my information. While the facts don't change, the context does. How a fact is interpreted changes on how it is presented. It is important to understand the context the facts are presented in. Hey, like I said maybe Hixter read the ACPR's paper and came to the same conclusions that those that cherry picked the gr
  19. So I guess the key is close our borders, eh? Or just close it to people in the Middle East? Or maybe we should have a religious test, as some GOP candidates have suggested. The vetting process for refugees has been very successful and I don't see a reason for doubt it going forward. The Syrian refugees have become a straw man for the GOP, attacking them but really attacking the Muslim world as a whole. The fact that one California terrorists that entered this country legally actually shows that the Syrian refugees question is a non issue. It is easier to get into this country via marri
  20. Please stop. I understand that graphic is from the larger paper by the Arab Center for Policy Research, a lengthy paper which read in full represents a more complex picture of the overall Military campaign against IS. But if you cherry pick that one graphic out of the article and extrapolate like the far right new outlet Gateway Pundit did you are going to be shocked and scared. This line from that article is about as ridiculous as one can get: It is clear that the author of the Gateway Pundit has no idea how the Syrian Refugee processes works, or is just willfully ignorant to scare
  21. Hey don't forget how we have to do something about the problem that all Syrian refugees as well. There is another non-existent problem that we definitely need a solution to. I am all for enforcing current gun laws as well, but lest we forget the NRA is pretty actively lobbying to weaken those too. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2013/02/07/nra-interferes-with-atf-operations/1894355/ http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/04/01/never-mind-new-guns-laws-the-nra-keeps-weakening-the-existing-ones.html And consistently undermines the ATF http://www.washingtonp
  22. So about the president's speech last night. Pretty clearly laid out his strategy and plan for ISIS, also interesting comments on that other subject (which I will not name). Also really liked how he called out some of the rhetoric by the current slate of GOP candidates.
  23. But he hasn't made himself look bad. He has said some pretty awful things and only gathered more support. Which I can't seem to fathom. You are right. I am jumping the gun. Iowa hasn't even happened, yet. I just dislike his rhetoric so much, I just wish it would stop. Believe it or not I worked in DC in the mid 90s for an extremely conservative senator. One thing he taught me was that politicians had a duty to their constituents to represent the best ideals of the people, regardless political leanings. To be above all, a statesmen, to conduct oneself with the utmost respect a
  24. That is exactly what I am looking for. There needs to be calls for him to step down. He is unfit for office and he is an embarrassment to the Republican party and this nation. If there was someone like him on the Dem side I would be disgusted to associate with that party. He and needs to realize that we as a country his lies and rhetoric have no place in this country. Even though he only has 20 some percent (which as shown is only actually 6% of the electorate), he is the GOP front runner. He is representing the GOP. Right now Trump is what the GOP is to America and the rest of the worl
