  1. This is exactly right. He is old (which has been brought up here), he is Jewish (non Christian which equals either secret Muslim or Satan Worshiper), he is a socialist (which is a dirty word for some reason). These are all things the GOP can hammer on and scare middle America. That may be the perception, but Hillary Clinton represents the Washington Insider, back by corporations and Wall Street. I think having their choice the GOP would much rather have a person in power aligned with similar corporate views then someone like Sanders. Sanders represents a wholesale change in the way
  2. Absolutely, I do have have tempered expectations. I am actually worried about being let down this year. But again I am cautiously optimistic. But my contention was with Papa's assertion that there are Cubs fans on a bandwagon or something. Since there have been no real games played all we have is speculation and what looks good on paper. But I don't think there is one person who knows anything about baseball that can deny that this year's Cubs look really good. Cubs fans are excited and rightfully so. I think if any team in baseball that had team that looks as good as the Cubs would be
  3. Exactly what are you seeing as bandwagon Cub fans? The fact is, the Cubs have an extremely good team right now (or at least on paper). If all goes to plan they should win in the neighborhood of 95 to 100 games and go deep in the playoffs if not win the whole things. The reporting is not jumping on a bandwagon it is reporting on facts as they are currently. As for fan support, I don't see a lot of bandwagon jumping, but I will not deny that there probably has been some. In all actuality it is the Cubs haters who are really coming out of the woodwork. I have heard more from the common
  4. Here is a good understanding of what a superdelegate is (from wikipedia): One thing that you have to remember is although Bernie Sanders is running for the Democratic Party's nomination for president, he is not a Democrat. He is an independent. The superdelegates are generally (not always) beholden to the Democratic Party and thus Debbie Wasserman Schultz and ultimately Clinton. It gives greater power to party officials and the establishment. It was a way to ensure the most qualified candidate would become the party's nominee. If the Democrat party did not have superdelegates there c
  5. That frankly was the most astounding part. Basically through the course they called Trump a cheat, liar, bigot, who will not only ruin the GOP, America itself. But he is better then Clinton/Sanders? So it was just theatre. Spineless, all spineless.
  6. I think the Cubs are going to fail train is in fuller swing. I have heard more about how the cubs are fizzle, or fall below expectations, etc. then I have heard World Series talk. But the World Series talk is actually based upon facts and the fact that the team looks really really good, whereas the Cubs' failure talk is based upon a dislike for the team or some weird superstition or something, not necessarily based on fact.
  7. I heard someone on the radio this morning say, the Republican party swallowed the TEA party whole and now they are complaining about the indigestion. The republicans created this mess. They created Trump and now they don't know what to do with him.
  8. But as a conservative, is the notion of a Trump presidency worse than Clinton or Sanders presidency? Because when it comes down to it, if Trump is the GOP nominee, unless conservatives / establishment Republicans vote for him, Clinton or Sanders will be the next president. A third party vote will not get a conversative in the White House, a stay a home vote will not get a conservative in the White House. Heck some might argue that a vote for Trump won't get a conservative in the White House. It is interesting that many conservatives are coming out against Trump: Romney calls Trump a
  9. There is a thread started back in 2008 which has a lot of information on the Chicago: http://viachicago.org/topic/35877-going-to-chicagowhat-to-do-see-stay-etc/ That is probably a good place to start.
  10. I frankly don't care about the Rangers. I don't know that much about the Rangers. I just looked at the division and I know Houston is a young team with a lot of upside. Also in my "research" I averaged 82-83 wins by the Texans and 88-91 wins by Houston. But I guess it wouldn't suprise me if the Rangers did well. I have already put in too much thought on the Rangers, so I probably won't think about them until August. Well that is an opinion. Probably wrong (on the Cubs side anyways). They have a young extremely talented lineup and a dominate rotation. Their bullpen is also improve
  11. I have never heard by anyone that Obama is unintelligent.
  12. Here is the predictions take these to Vegas and win money American League West: Houston Central: White Sox East: Toronto National League West: Dodgers Central: Cubs (btw look for 102 wins by the Cubbies this year) East: Washington Playoffs AL Wildcard Boston over Detroit NL Wildcard Giants over Cards ALDS Boston over Houston White Sox over Toronto NLDS Dodgers over Giants Cubs over Washington ALCS White Sox over Boston NLCS Cubs over Dodgers World Series Cubs over White Sox in 6 (and the city of Chicago will burn to the ground)
  13. By no means does intelligence equate wisdom. I know very well educated people who I would not call wise, and I know very wise people who don't have much in the way of education. Cruz's attitude and actions prove to me he does not have much in the way of wisdom. Hey remember when in 2008 Obama was attacked for his elitist education? http://www.politico.com/story/2008/08/rnc-aims-at-obamas-elite-education-012414 I wonder what Bounds would say about Sen Cruz's ivy league education.
  14. I had no idea Trump was so old (and not older than Clinton). I would have put his age at early sixties. But of course this is not the first time Hixter has brought up, the age of the candidates. And I am not sure what he is getting at or trying to say. It is amazing how these memes and things turn based upon who it benefits. It is a sad day if age is the deciding factor on who you want to be president. Rubio has shown increasingly immaturity on the campaign trail recently, making dick and pee jokes about Trump, something wholly unbecoming of the office they seek. Cruz also doesn't
  15. But honestly, people have saying relax since June. Waiting for his downfall, or the thing that will derail him. And truth be told there are things that could derail him, for sure. But the past 9 months or so, he has proven he can say and do anything and it will not affect his poll numbers. I do not have your faith. Especially if Clinton is the nominee. I have a feeling there will be a lot of disaffected young Sanders supporters who will not vote for Clinton (and for some reason vote Trump). Not sure that is right. CNN has Hillary and Sanders over Trump. And in the case of Clint
  16. You know, under normal circumstances I would agree with you. And even if Trump is the GOP candidate, all logic says he will not win. But bank in June when he announced, was there anyone who thought he would come this far? Is there anyone who would have seriously thought on Super Tuesday, he is nearly poised to be the GOP nominee? His candidacy has defied conventional wisdom and decency. He has made statements against, African Americans, women, the disabled, the Pope, the list goes on. He spreads lies and bigotry with every speech. He and his supporters have advocated (and used) violen
  17. Wow, just wow. I am glad to see the GOP go after Trump. However it is too little too late. And unfortunately it is petty one liners, extremely unbecoming of the Office of President IMHO. Remember last year when I was freaking out about Trump's numbers and pretty much everyone said not to worry. Well ladies and gentlemen it is time to worry. Tomorrow, we could wake up in a world where Donald Trump is the Republican nominee for president. And conservatives will have to answer and look in their hearts and answer, would a Hillary (or Sanders) presidency worse than a Trump presidency?
  18. Yep. In a world were we get our news from comedians, we should not be surprised the GOP has devolved into a bad reality show.
  19. What was the rally like? Would be really surprised if did not win on his home turf.
  20. John Oliver last night did a fantastic segment on Trump. He did a fantastic job taking him down. Trump is so thin skinned I am sure he will threaten to sue Oliver and HBO. He went on over 20 minutes (got I love HBO). Here is a HuffPo article about it. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-drumpf-john-oliver_us_56d40adee4b0bf0dab32a73c Also I went to http://www.donaldjdrumpf.com/ downloaded the Chrome extension to change Trump to Drumpf, and it is fantastic. Unfortunately, I don't think many of Trump's supporters watch Oliver and will be swayed by this segment. But if Trump s
  21. Christie endorses Trump. Wtf? Leading candidate for VP? Both are bullies.
  22. I did not see it live only read about it. But then I saw the clips on the news. Jeeeeesus is right. If I was a conservative I would be embarrassed.
  23. I am sure he did. However, even if Trump and his advisors were the smartest men in the world when it comes to trade, economic policies, etc. there is no way he should be excused for his misogynistic, racist, xenophobic, bullying, hateful remarks. Whether this is just theatre, or he actually believes these things, his rhetoric has no place in society, other to be ridiculed and scorned. People seem to be softening to Trump (and not to say that you are doing this specifically). Brushing off his rhetoric as either a grand joke, saying that he will swing to the center once the GOP nominee, o
  24. I don't know if that is any better. In fact I that is probably worse. The fact that Trump is sitting there playing on the fear and stupidity of the Republican party and laughing about it. Ugh.
