  1. There is a huge difference in saying we have a problem with criminals crossing the border then when Donald Trump said this: Or this: And of course the general notion is completely false: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2015/07/08/donald-trumps-false-comments-connecting-mexican-immigrants-and-crime/ Yes, Trumps rhetoric resonates the wall sounds like a great idea. But it won't work, nor does it address any problems. It is easier to make immigrants a straw man and the villain, rather than look at the under lying problems of crime. All Trump is doing is playin
  2. Yes on the surface, they are reacting in similar ways (ie I hate this person), but beyond that the two are very different and really comparing the reactions is disingenuous. The Right's vitriol towards Obama, was generally irrational, based upon lies and steeped in racism (not all but some of it). Whereas, the contempt towards Trump is based on his own words. I mentioned Clinton's speech yesterday. Her "attacks" on Trump used his own words and actions. Whereas the Muslim, birther nonsense, etc did not use Obama's words. You certainly can compare. Just like you can compare an appl
  3. Clinton's speech yesterday pretty much sums up why Trump is unfit to be president. http://time.com/4355797/hillary-clinton-donald-trump-foreign-policy-speech-transcript/ A speech like this should have given in September by a GOP candidate. It is interesting how most of the speech did not actually hing on policy, but it hinged on the dangerous and stupid things Donald Trump has said. But at the same point, Of course Trump's response was classic, "Hillary has to go to jail." Or the even better, tweet about her teleprompter skills. Not a rebuttal of why she is was wrong about it him,
  4. I may be biased here, but the Right's disdain and vitriol for Obama was mostly unfounded and based upon lies, hearsay, and frankly tinged with racism. The first example that comes to mind is the whole Birther nonsense and lest we forget, something that the current GOP candidate was is really big on. And don't forget the Jeremiah Wright ridiculousness. Or the calls that Obama is a Muslim, or socialist. These attacks, just stupid. Whereas, the contempt for Trump is based upon things he actually has done or said. Not to say that all of the Right's hatred is unfounded, ideological people
  5. I wonder if the whole veterans benefit thing will do anything. http://www.npr.org/2016/05/31/480163943/questions-over-trumps-donations-to-veterans-boil-over What is interesting is how thin skinned this man is. Regardless of how and when the donations came in, how he reacted to this shows what kind of man Trump is. This is now on display again. This is how he deals with people who are tough on him, by complaining and calling names. This is the person who the GOP wants to be president. A person who when things get tough, resorts to childish behavior.
  6. If there is anyone in the music industry who is equivalent to Donald Trump it is Mike Love. Case and point Mike Love is a huge asshole. http://alexcastle.net/2012/09/28/the-beach-boys-mike-love-is-an-awful-human-being/ He wrote Kokomo, which is about as coherent and meaningful as any of Donald Trump's policy statements.
  7. Haven't followed the American League in the past week or so. What the heck is going on with the White Sox?
  8. It was said in a GOP debate, so you would think it would have sticking power. Cause you know one of the reasons for debates is put forth your ideas so voters know who they are voting for. However, he did hire Dr. Ben Carson as an adviser, so for all we know, Trump is going around and giving vaccines out at his rallies.
  9. I guess if that makes you feel better about voting for him. To help your memory, this is what he said on the matter: https://youtu.be/Ms3jvef4HaQ?t=1m21s But that ascertain is bullshit and dangerous. http://www.azcentral.com/story/news/politics/fact-check/2015/10/16/donald-trump-spaced-out-vaccines-reduce-autism-fact-check/72828934/ But regardless, he is perpetuating the the case that vaccinations cause autism. They do not. Science has proven that. But here are some other statements by Mr. Trump on vaccines. https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/449525268529815552?lan
  10. I don't think anyone on either side of the isle thinks their candidate is perfect. There are things that people wish their candidate would do or say, that they never will. It is the nature of the beast. Where I think there is a disconnect between Clinton and Trump supporters is the nature of what they are willing to look past. We all know what Trump has said about women and minorities. Think about if you were at a party and you heard someone call Mexicans rapists, or spout some of his other nonsense. Would you say something? Would you think that is acceptable? Also lest we forget,
  11. It is going to lead to more walks and less swings. Thus extending the game. It is for TV. The perfect length of a TV game is about 3 hours (ever notice how primetime broadcast is 3 hours). That is the magic number. Football is just over, but that is only 16 games a year and mostly played on Sundays where it is an event. Baseball just isn't made for TV it is made for radio or live. That is the best way to watch a game.
  12. I was at an Isotopes (Rockies AAA) game and they had the 20 sec clock. It was distracting as a fan and when the click reached zero (which wasn't often) it was just turned off, no penalty was enforced that could tell.
  13. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/15633876/mlb-competition-committee-agrees-changes-strike-zone-intentional-walks I can't tell you how much I hate the change to the intentional walk rule. How many intentional walks are there in a game 2 maybe 3? This will save maybe 5 minutes? Plus there are things that can happen in an intentional walk. A wild pitch is common, but more common is after a pitcher throws 4 intentional balls, he has trouble finding the strike zone on the next batter. It happened last week to the Cubs. The pitcher should be required to throw the ball until the play is com
  14. You seem to think that the Clinton's bad points are on par with Trump's. I understand that Trump voters will look the other way when they vote for Trump. But I have at least acknowledged Clinton's faults. I have yet to hear any acknowledgement of Trump's faults. I have brought up his faults many, many times, no one even seems to refute my assertions. But there are people and some on this board who has stated they will vote Trump. I just cannot understand with the things he has said anyone can vote for him. It has gone past of merely looking the other way. What in the last 10 month
  15. Yes I watched it (and I am offended that you suggest otherwise). I understand that Clinton like all politicians change their stances through time and then try to rewrite the record. Show me a politician that doesn't. She like many people (and may powerful people) has a problem admitting when they are wrong. Again, I am fine with this. So I might be naive, but in January when she is president she is not going to turn back on the principals she has expressed in the last year of her candidacy. The same thing cannot be said of Donald Trump. What are his positions? Let's take military int
  16. I said as much. I know Clinton is a politician. I accept the policy changes. Even if it is to garner votes. Changes on gay marriage, etc. I am cool with that. Politicians can change their minds, politicians evolve. If not women would not be able to vote and African Americans would be slaves. As for the other stuff, most of it is the general bs, all people and politicians spin. But again on core policy issues, Trump is wildly inconsistent, my previous link proves that. Whether or not you agree we with me, I have defended Clinton. Something that don't seem to want to wit
  17. This is far different from we are seeing from Trump. Trump will contradict himself in the same speech and sometimes in the same sentence. And now he is completely changing is tune on the thing which made him so popular in the first place, self funding is campaign (which was bullshit to begin with). He is seeking out and getting big donations from the Republican party http://www.wsj.com/articles/donald-trump-republicans-finalize-joint-fundraising-deal-1463537455. Of course on his website he still talks about being self funded and anti establishment. The video that you linked to, sh
  18. You know I think your original comment about Bernie's free tuition plan being as unfeasible as Trump's wall is way off base. While I agree with you the plan to give debt free tuition is not feasible. But it is not feasible because it would never pass with a GOP controlled congress. If Bernie were elected there would be no way something like that would pass. Look at what kind of wrangling it took to get ACA to pass, and that is when the Dems controlled both houses and the presidency. Now the "wall" is not feasible for a whole variety of reasons. First and foremost it is structurally i
  19. While I tend to agree that free college is generally unfeasible, it is not crazier or impractical than the wall. The wall is rooted in rasicism and xenophobia, and it's function goes against the central idea of our country. And if accomplished would do nothing. Whereas free education is rooted hope and betterment of our nation and if accomplished would have a lasting effect on our nation. Also other developed countries offer free college, no other country has built a wall to the extent that Trump is purposing.
  20. I thought it might show that he donated to some liberal organizations.
  21. So anyone think Trump will actually release his tax returns? Will this have any affect on the election? Should we care about how politicians make and spend their money?
  22. Fixed it for you. Aside from the horrible person that Trump is, his policy positions seem to be an exercise in free jazz rather than coherent statements. In recent interviews and speeches he contradicts himself and his policies. Honestly I don't know what his policies are. So again, Republican voters, are willing to support a man who believe is not only lying to the American people, he believes the American people are stupid enough to believe he can get it done. Fairly cynical view of politics. Why vote for anyone then?
  23. Back a couple of pages Hixter said something like Clinton's recent comments on guns and his foreign policy speech makes him less sick about voting for Trump. I would link, but I am doing this on my phone and that is hard. Search back you will find it. It is too bad Hixter is unwilling to defend his support of Trump, or at least further explain why Trump is better than Clinton. I guess his silence is its own explanation. Maybe he is embarrassed, I certainly would be if I threw my lot in with the likes of Trump.
  24. Care to elaborate? I wanna know if it just your love of guns that will cause you to vote for a serial liar, bigot, and misogynist. Or is there something else? It seems at this point Trump doesn't really have any set values and the only consistent thing about his policy statements is how wildly inconsistent they are. I guess there is his "wall" which is such laughable pandering joke and will never in a million work. Clinton is not perfect, but really you are OK with a man such as Trump?
