I'm a little concerned about how many of you are rooting for an economic downturn. I hate Trump, but geez.
I doubt that anyone here is rooting for an economic downturn, but the likelihood is that we will see one.
-
Wow that Mueller thing didn't turn out as bad for Trump as I predicted.
This went exactly as I predicted.
As for impeachment, I think it is pretty much off the table. Pelosi has said as much. I am sure she caught wind of the Mueller report before it dropped and knew it is best to leave it be.
The best course of action is to start giving POTUS enough rope to hang himself. Economic factors point to a major downturn 4th quarter this year, and early next year. Also we have this shit show that starting Israel. I don't see how this is gonna end up good for anyone involved. Plus the looming mess in NK. I unfortunately see us in bad shape by this time next year.
-
So the Mueller Probe is set up wrap soon:
https://www.cnn.com/2019/02/20/politics/special-counsel-conclusion-announcement/index.html
So what if Mueller comes out and says, "we did a full investigation and we have caught who we caught but there is no evidence of wrong doing by the President and his inner circle."
I do think this is a likely scenario. I can't imagine what the left will say after hanging all hope that Mueller will bring POTUS down. And the right who sees Mueller as illegitimate and a secret deep state democrat.

Never ever give up. Don't give up. Don't allow it to happen. If there's a CONCRETE WALL in front of you, go through it, go over it, go around it. but get to the other side of that wall.
As funny as that is, clearly the person who wrote the the speech for him intended it as a metaphor. Everyone knows you can't get over real walls.

Looks like the dotard is not going to condemn Saudi Arabia for the state sanctioned murder of that journalist. Wow, that's quite a message he is sending.
He just praised Saudi Arabia for low gas prices. Other than being factually incorrect, it is incredibly stupid. Sometimes I think he is doing the greatest piece of performance art ever, or he is the dumbest man on the planet.

Did you hear the latest on Ivanka? But her emails ..... lock her up.
If one thing I have learned in the last 2 plus years is the main stream media is incapable of dealing with Trump's hypocrisy.
-
under pressure from Trump.
There is no way in hell that Session's left without a direct order from POTUS.
-
Panic mode POTUS fires Sessions.
-
"your second amendment rights are under siege, but they will never be under siege while I am president". Donald Trump on the 2nd Amendment.
Hey let's do an EO to get rid of the birthright citizenship. Donald Trump's thoughts on the 14th.
I firmly believe the only Amendment POTUS can name is the 2nd. And this is the only one the GOP cares about.
-
Another mass shooting. I wonder which brave Right Wing pundit is gonna calls this a false flag operation.
-
So apparently they caught the MAGA-bomber?
Though I'm sure the right will continue to speak of false flag conspiracies...
I was listening to Rush this afternoon, he was going on about how this whole thing was distracting from the GOP's good early voting polls. I am not sure about that, since I don't think it is a big story anyways. But what it definitely has pushed out of the limelight is the murder and cover up of a Journalist and US resident. Not too many people are asking any more questions about the Saudis and the tie to the Trump family.

I'll say Sox in 6.
Not a lot of folks posting in this thread the past week....
The World Series this year just seems a bit meh. I guess the Dodger and Sox just seem so boring and predictable. I would have really liked to see how Milwaukee would have done in the series.

I'm still working my way through all the seasons. I can't recall where I left off.
I think I am somewhere in Season 24.
I haven't revisited old Who in a long time.
But there are some things I wish NuWho would do that Old Who did. Especially in regards to
companionsfriends.- Non Earth based
- Non 21st Century
- Someone who is an adversary or working against the Doctor (secretly)
Most of the nu-who companions have been 21st century earth humans. Only a handful has been from a different time and or planet (Jack Harkness, River Song, Nardol).
I think it is high time we got some different type of companions.
-
I am old. I do.
I was trying to recall when there was 3 before.
If memory serves, the 4th had three (Romana, K9, Adric; the aft fore mentioned Tegan, Nyssa, Adric) and the 5th had it quite a bit (the seasons w/ Tourlogh, Kamelion, Tegan). But again it has been a while since I have revisted those seasons. For being such a good Doctor the 5th had some pretty shitty companions.
-
I think it's more jarring that there are 3 companions to deal with. I have not seen the 3rd episode yet. I wish they had not changed the day the show is broadcast.
Have you forgot about the Adric, Tegan and Nyssa days of the late Tom Baker / early Peter Davison era? Oh God Adric sucked.
Also I didn't think anyone watched shows when they were broadcast anymore.
-
Anyone watch the first three Episodes of this season's Doctor Who. So far Whitaker has impressed me, she is good in the role. There is room for improvement, I feel as though her Doctor is looking for validation from everyone, which is something past Doctors didn't really do.
Also I am glad they aren't making too big of deal (in the show anyways) about the gender change. I would imagine it would be a bigger deal if the regeneration spanned
companionsfriends (not used to that at all). And Ryan Sinclair kinda sucks IMHO. -
Cory Booker: Canada, Trudeau are 'out-Americaning us' during Trump era
Yeah, I mean, if that's your definition of "Americaning", I think we've been doing that for decades.
Canada is now America's cooler brother that can get you weed.
-
So Red Sox v Dodgers?
Red Sox in 5.
-
Really tough. I know that the Sox have home field advantage, but I do not see them as the favorite here. Even with 108 regular season wins.
The same thing could be said about the Brewers.
-
Am I disappointed by the results today, yes. Am I supposed, no. It would have taken Jesus descending from heaven and speaking against the nomination have it not go through. Heck that probably wouldn't have been enough.
Let's not forget, POTUS has been accused by 16 women of sexual assualt; been accused of rape by his ex wife; implicated in a payoff from an affair with a porn star; and bragged about sexually assaulting women and teenagers. Judge Kav is a freaking choir boy compared to Trump.
Once Trump was elected we knew a day like this would come, the court is now stacked right and will be for the most of our life lives. So again I have the day to the Jill Stein voters or the Bernie Bros who stayed home in 2016, fuck you. Don't whine and cry now, this did not have to happen.
Now that it has the left has to vote. They have to turn out, and it sucks, but sometimes you have to pick the lesser of two evils and not always vote with someone who is 100% aligned with your ideals. Cause we all know how truly evil the GOP can be. We certainly can't allow their control of the legislature to continue.
And RBG, don't you die, please God don't you die.
-
Wonder why they are trying to cram him through so quick
Because having an open seat on the Supreme Court is a threat to our democracy and our long lived traditions. Just ask Merrick Garland.
Kav is a shitty pick across the board. Be it his questionable finances, his record during the Bush Whitehouse, his thoughts on Presidential power, his history in High School and College, or his temperament. One of these things alone disqualify him from SCOTUS, and compounded together it is a pretty damning case against the man. But to the question you asked why are they ramming this through. The President and GOP need a Justice who will side with the President in the matters of presidential power and stop any subpoenas and indictments that may come out of the Mueller investigation. That is why they are pushing him to be confirmed.
-
Good lord - now he's mocking Dr. Ford.
He's the President of the United States of America and he's mocking a victim of sexual assault.
Honestly this is why I think Kav is gonna be confirmed. As long as the president and the GOP do not treat it a serious thing it is easier for the Senators to vote for him.
-
Kidding on any "conspiracy," but you know no one in MLB headquarters is pumped to see a Brewers/Rockies series. Cubs/Brewers would be better for ratings, obviously.
True that.
It will probably be a Brewers/A's World Series too, in which no one outside of Oakland or Milwaukee will watch.
Politics 2019

To what end? It is not like after POTUS is impeached, he is removed from office. So many steps to go.
The short hand version of the impeachment process is this.
1. Someone requests impeachment (no problem there)
2. A resolution is drawn up and sent the Judiciary Committee. Hearings and investigations will happen. This undoubtedly be a circus shit show.
3. If the Judiciary committee believes there is an impeachable offense (no doubt a vote on straight party lines) it goes to the fully house for a vote. Which needs a simple majority, likely but not 100%. This vote will come in late 2019 / early 2020. So that doubles down on the election politics.
4. If the House votes for impeachment we have a trial in the senate. Which run by McConnell, will be a straight up joke and there will be a cold day in hell before the Senate votes to remove Trump from office.
All the while Trump will be in office, on his twitter machine blasting out crazy shit. We are inching closer to war with Iran, maybe North Korea, who is to say he does something to distract from this impeachment mess? And do you think any impeachment any evidence brought forth will do anything to change someone's mind about Trump? This could very well damage the reputations of some congressmen and senators.
Trump is an evil, stupid, thin skinned bastard. He is guilty of numerous crimes and obstruction of justice. But what good does it do to impeach him if he won't be removed from office? The Mueller report, which is very damning, was spun as a win for the president. You don't think that when the senate votes not to remove him from office, it won't be spun in the same way?
Yes, it is cynical and politically driven way of looking at it, but without a chance of conviction by the senate, I can't see any good from starting this process.
We have 600 days before Trump leaves office. We shouldn't be focusing on impeachment, that will ultimately fail to remove him. We should be focusing on getting the best damn candidate possible as the democratic nominee and winning back the senate. Impeachment is fools game and a trap that I think Trump would like for us to be caught up in.
