My trumpite college pal has gone completely radio-silent. I imagine him gently weeping in frustration while chewing on a pillow. Sad!
The parable of the scorpion and the frog comes to mind anytime I hear about Trump supporters

Except that everybody hates the Yankees and the Dodgers.
The only thing that would be cool if the Dodgers got into the World Series to see if they will actually lose a game. I don't think any team has gotten threw a DS, LCS and WS without losing.
-
Curious to know if anyone didn't think that Lackey was going to give up a home run or at least a hit to Turner?
Joe Maddon apparently. The Cubs bullpen is terrible thus far.
-
things just got real complicated in the NFC
Less for me, with the Packers prolly out of it means I can stop caring.
-
My god I don't think I can handle any more of this game. Top of 9 Cubs up by one.
-
This is why I don't gamble - the Yankees are looking great.
Cub's bats better start doing something real quick.
Yeah no doubt. So glad to see the Indians out of it. I really hate their racist logo.
Plus Aaron Judge is a giant human, which I find amusing.

probably, listening to his press conference yesterday gave me flashbacks.
Now it looks like Strasburg is gonna pitch. He is gonna have to a have a great game otherwise it is gonna blow up in the Nat's faces.
-
No Cubs Nats today. Apparently Dusty isn't pitching Strasburg on short rest because of mold or something.
God I forgot why I hated Dusty.
-
Man, I thought the Cubs would be extremely lucky to eke out a victory over Strasburg. He's a definite Cy Young candidate, most likely the winner in the NL. He was a total beast, throwing a no-no through 5. We manage to scratch out 2 runs in the 6th, all after 2 outs (something we were NOT doing before the break in July). Then Rizz goes opposite field for an RBI double later in the game.
BUT - The Professor was as good as he's been all year, my man Carl Jr. went 1-2-3 in the 8th, and Davis nailed it down in the 9th. 3-0. We STOLE one.
12 hours of playoff ball today. Felt like the opening weekend of March Madness, I OD'ed and it was nice.
Absolutely loved yesterday. So much good baseball. I didn't think that Indians Yankees game would ever end. Loved switching to it during the commercial breaks of the Cubs game. Man, I was worried with Strasburg on the mound. I had it chalked up as a loss in my mind before the game. But wow, the error in the 6th really gave the Cubs the spark they needed.
Now I wish Boston would actually remember they are the Red SOX not just the Reds, cause they are playing about as well as Cincinnati.
-
Man through two games the Red Sox look lifeless.
-
I sure hope you're wrong about the Yankees/Twins tonight, though you probably won't. Win or lose, I hope to really enjoy the game.
So far it has been a nutty game
-
How did the Red Sox get into the ALCS if they lost to the Astros?!
By over, I meant screwed over
-
Ah October baseball. Really the best month in all of sports. Can the resurgent Cubs win it all again, or will a dark horse come riding up and shock us all?
Here are my dime store predictions:
AL Wildcard
Yankees over Twins
NL Wildcard
D-Backs over Rockies
ALDS
Boston over Houston in 5
Cleveland over Yankees in 4
NLDS
Dodgers over D-Backs in 4
Cubs over Nationals in 5
ALCS
Cleveland over Boston in 6
NLCS
Cubs over Dodgers in 6
World Series
Cubs over Cleveland (can you say rematch?) in 7
I say if you do bet this with your local bookie (as you should) just remember to kick a little love back to KG.

But that's just it...I think Sandy Hook DID have an effect, did change some minds. It's a shame some people are so intractible, there are some minds that no amount of reason will change. We all know some of these people.
Most of these people are in congress, the only place where real change can occur on this topic. As long as the NRA is still a lobbying arm for the gun manufacturers we will never have meaningful gun legislation.

Shocked to wake up to this....
Terrible, terrible news. People are insane. What is a realistic way to protect the audience at an event like this? I can't think of any.
We can keep the victims in our thoughts and prayers and then forget about it in 3 days time, until the next mass shooting. This is the only thing our country is willing to do. Any other realistic solution is too hard, complicated and results in yelling and peoples feeling's getting hurt.
Wash, rinse, repeat.

Cubs win the NCL Central! That and Twins get the second wild card spot in the the AL.
Now it is to see if the Rockies can outlast the Brewers (or maybe Cards).

The GOP isn't failing, they are just succeeding at a slower pace. Because of the uncertainty created by what they are doing insurance premiums are going up this year, which they will blame on. The ACA. They are doing all they can to shut down the ACA websites this year, scheduled outages every week during the sign up period...they will of course blame it on the ACA.
The president swore an oath to uphold the laws of the United States, yet here he is actively trying to sabotage a law. Too bad the GOP are solely focused on overturning everything obama did and getting as much $$ to the ultra spoiled mega rich billenials to care about the rest of the country.
Except now they won't be able to repeal and replace as a reconciliation bill. Whatever they replace it with has to have support from Dems.
-
Nice deflection by POTUS, instead of talking about how the GOP has utterly failed in their singular focused issue (repeal and replace) we are talking about the NFL, Steph Curry, and the national anthem. Do not think that it wasn't on purpose.

Never knew the politics of Woods, before. Always enjoyed his acting, though.
Perfect example of a garbage human that is extremely talented. Though in retrospect, he does his best work when he plays garbage humans.
-
I disagree, very much. It was disgusting. As were the after-party pics. He was not shunned or laughed at. I'm sure even Trump interpreted it as a sign Hollywood would forgive Trump in a heartbeat.
That will be the case if (and that is a big if) POTUS is removed from office. He would be pardoned and probably be on dancing with the stars or the next season of the apprentice.
-
Well apparently the GOPs plan to kill ACA is just wear the people down and slip something in with out us noticing.
Yeah, so if you want to kick millions off of medicare for tax breaks for the wealthy, go head and sit on our hand watch your cat videos, otherwise call your freaking senator. Do it, do it now, do it tomorrow, do it every single day.
-
I find it funny (ironically) that he goes among the "liberal Hollywood elite" and be welcomed, ditto to the dreaded Harvard.
I think Spicer thought he was laughing with him, whereas the the Hollywood types thought they were laughing at him. But in essence they validated his fuckery.
-
and Lackey lost his shit, again. Ugh.
Of course then the Cubs dropped a 7 on the Cards!
Hope Contreras isn't suspended.

Chicago's bats have been on fire recently. Sox have 16 runs, 24 hits in todays game. Cubs won 17-5 yesterday.
It has been promising especially since they got swept by the Brewers in the series before. Really this series against the Cardinals will tell a lot. If they take 2 of 3 odds are the division will be theirs. If they lose 2 or get swept, it is up for grabs.
So what about this moving the Brewers v Marlins to Milwaukee BS? Yeah I understand the need to move it from Miami, but a neutral site would have been more fair to the Marlins and everyone in that tight division race. Who, other than the Brewers thinks having the Marlins play a "home game" in Milwaukee is a good idea?

It is one thing to pay for opposition research against a candidate and it is another to meet with Russian governmental officials and ask them to actively take a role in taking down a candidate. You would think these are on par as the same thing, but they are not.
