  1. I just got my cancellation email from ticketweb - as last time (see previous post) they are basically just going to refund me directly. No hassle sending back tickets or anything. So I would recommend them if you are shopping around for tix in the future. So my last two gigs have been screwed, got Arcade Fire and Iron and Wine over the next few days - keeping fingers crossed they'll be fine and looking forward to Dublin!!
  2. 'Ghost Of Bob Cumming' Out of interest, did you have to ring up Ticketweb re the refund, or return the tickets? I booked via Ticketweb and did get an automated message from them about 24hrs before the Decemberists show saying it was cancelled, but I've had no confirmation of a refund (would be helpful iro Wilco also) - not sure if I need to do anything (I think the message said that my card would be automatically refunded - but I was to busy cursing the cancellation to hear it properly ). - No it was all done automatically - I basically had to do nothing. Having said that I'm still await
  3. As I said yesterday it is a pisser when gigs are cancelled. Take it from someone who works in a live muisc venue that any cancellation at short notice takes a while to filter through to all the various people involved in making an event happen. On a side note, I also had tickets for the Decemberists show in Glasgow that was pulled 2 weeks ago - only three days before the gig - and the agency (Ticketweb) were very good at informing me that a) it was off I would get an immediate refund and c) a telephone call to confirm that my refund had been processed. I find it shocking that some agenc
  4. Newcastle Academy have now confirmed cancellation - 'due to band illness'. I can only presume that they are going to hold out on the other European dates to see if the situation can be rectified. Although I'm gutted this has happened - I have 2 tix for that show - I also have tix for both Dublin shows so let's hope they will be OK. If Jeff's got strep they've probably just cancelled these to allow him tme to recover and let the other gigs happen as logistically it would be easier to get straight onto the the Euro mainland dates. It's a pisser for everyone but that's live music... As I
  5. It's slightly omninous that Wilcoworld's show page has all the Uk dates listed now as 'Info' - where there's actually NO info. However I've just checked Newcastle Academy and it's still on sale, so hopefully it's just the one gig... I've got everything crossed (which is quite painful after ten minutes!)
  6. I'm from Scotland and have been lucky enough to see Wilco 4 times already this year in Paris, Ghent, Amsterdam and at Indian Summer in Glasgow. Got tickets for Newcastle and both Dublin shows in November also. I'm about to sell the house and the wife to pay for any other future tours in 2008... So yeh - been on this forum for a while - like the feedback from all over the world.
  7. I have to say I'm completely chuffed they've added Newcastle - I've just bought a pair of tickets - it's an easy trip for us in the south of Scotland. This means we'll have seen them SEVEN times this year once the last Dublin gig is done. I was really tempted by the Brussels gig also as we saw Calexico with Iron and Wine there last year - the Cirque is a great venue with a really good vibe, but midweek is no use to us either. Will this tour ever end? (HOPE NOT - but I've run out of money and holiday time!!!)
  8. OK - I just said 'feck it' and booked for the Thursday also and got standing again no problem. Doesn't look like there's going to be a Scottish show as just 3 English shows on sale today also. Thank god for Ryanair - it'll be cheaper than trying to get to Manchester, Birmingham or London from Edinburgh and there's better Guinness in Dublin! Hoorah!
  9. I saw them in Paris, Ghent and Amsterdam back in May and all venues were around 1000 - 1200 - just perfect and all sold out. Last year I went to see Calexico and Iron and Wine in Brussels at the Cirque which was great too. I enjoy going to these gigs in Europe as the crowds seem much more into the music, rather than talking or screaming or throwing beer around which we seem to specialise in in this country. So although the venues are smaller than in the states I don't think that's any reflection on the band's status - I really admire them for playing smaller venues as it's probably earni
  10. Wow - that was close! Managed to get a pair standing on the first night. I signed up for Ticketmasters' alert but got nothing... Tempted to go for two nights but holiday allowances won't give up a second day in the emerald isle. There's supposed to be some UK dates coming too, so fingers crossed for another show in Scotland.
  11. According to the post and subsequent link in the 'Just a Fan' section they are due for Dublin in November but no confirmation as yet. I'll be booking my flight as soon as it does!
  12. Although it's been raining in Scotland for months it finally stopped for this mini Festival - just in time to welcome Wilco back. The set as I remember it and thus not wholly accurate, or indeed in this order (too busy enjoying it to take notes!): Misunderstood Side with the Seeds You are my face I am trying to break your heart Shot in the arm Handshake drugs Via Chicago Impossible Germany Walken Hummingbird (I think!) I'm always in love Jesus, etc I'm the man who loves you Spiders Encore: The late greats Set was curtailed by the 10.30pm curfew and the fact that the previous band, The
  13. My wife and I also travelled from Scotland (via Ireland!) to see the three shows at Bataclan Paris, Gent Vooruit and Paradiso and were not disappointed. Each show was just something very special (from someone who actually runs a concert hall this is praise indeed!) and felt very different. It's amazing to see how a band like this works, the energy it creates and the sheer beauty of it's music. Nels cline is truly one of the best guitar players around now, Glenn Kotche must be so incredibly fit to deliver a performance like that night after night. A great way to spend a week on the road. W
