I see the German dates for September are now up on Wilcoworld. I've tried three of the links for tickets but nothing obvious so far - anyone any ideas how to actually get them and when they are officially on sale? Sounds like the perfect holiday prime German beer, sausage and Wilco........... nice!

5 shows in UK - better come to the land of blessed and the deep fried pizza!! However it's more likely I'll take my summer holiday in Germany now, if the dates fit - sounds like a challenge to get to as many as poss...

Great to meet you too - yes come to the land of the mountain and the flood - but mostly flood since I got home... You've completely got me on that Shetland island - most of them have norse derived names, so it may just sound similar to that word. I'll consult the wife oracle on that one. Having seen those Japan and Oz dates yesterday I'd love to go to both those countries but that may prove too expensive. John did also say that they would return to Europe in the spring again, presumably now after those dates. -

During the show Jeff had joked about how the Germans were not good at clapping (or something), then qualified it by saying that he didn't want to cause an international incident and anyway half his family were of German origin. When I met John, I said I was surprised as I always thought the Tweedy name was from the north of England, perhaps even related to the River Tweed which staddles the Scottish - English border (near to where I stay), but he said that Jeff's family definitely had German roots. The only other thing I'm going to spill from our conversation was that when it was mooted for -

Back home now after seeing these last three shows - Amsterdam was definitely a high after the hassle we had in Milan when my wife got her wallet stolen, anyway good times and very nice to meet Brianne and Paul and compare some notes! However after this show was when things got really interesting... Firstly I met Stan as he made his way backstage and had a quick natter - he was very complimentary about the band and said they were good to work for. I then went into a bar for a relaxing drink before heading back to the hotel. Ten minutes later in walked John and Pat with the Latebirds!! - th -
Bump: I'm still looking for a single ticket for the 16th, please contact at iainmcq@btinternet.com
-
I was going to go, but then got called for jury service!! Which means I can't get away - however now I can for the last two gigs of the year in Holland. Which reminds me - ANYONE GOT ONE SPARE FOR AMSTERDAM - PLEASE!!!! (See my note in need tickets section to contact me and apologies for hijacking this thread.) Enjoy your gig in Leeds - it'll be very special. And of course we expect a full report no later than first thing Wednesday AM, Greenwich Mean Time.
-
Need just one for me - coming from Scotland!! Please help at iainmcq@btinternet.com
-
How about those of us coming from Scotland and have made the effort to see them in Portugal, Spain, Ireland and Italy this year? Ahh go onnnnnnnnnnn!!
-
Excellent!!! (apart from the guy down front badly clapping, who looks suspiciously like yours truly). Take it as a botched attempt to stop you contravening the 'no video' rule - you'll probably be banned from now on...
-
I'm surprised - was completely hoarse from hollerin' along for the two nights... The comments about the Cranberries were hilarious too - especially when Nels pointed out that his trousers should not be slagged for being 'cranberry coloured'. I didn't know the Irish felt the same about them too,(ie they are crap).

Just f***ing awesome - great set list and the first five songs in were played as if it was going to be the last five. Glenn even broke his snare drum during 'Shot in the Arm' he was battering the kit like it was his last gig ever. We scored places right in front of John (my ears were still bleeding after being Clined the night before). Saw Jeff whip the camera from the guy from California - originally i thought he was pissed at him not paying attention, however he mouthed 'no video' at him. I don't think the taper was too pleased for the rest of the set. Too many highlights to remember

Just back from Ireland, but I have to say probably the two best Wilco shows we've seen (so far!) - more on night 2 in the correct thread. Managed to score a place at the barrier right in front of Nels and am officially deaf. I've often thought that at previous shows he ain't loud enough, but being so close it was great to see (and hear!) everything he puts into the show. Right from the first bars of W(TS) he was totally into it. My theory is that being so tall, he has his amp cranked up so high to hear it, but beware! if you're in front of it you will die... My ears are still ringing some

No ill feeling meant to the good people of Leeds but our transport system in the UK is crap and expensive unless you use the cheapo buses and you get what you pay for. Through experience I can only vouch for the Paradiso where we saw Wilco June 1st 2007 and it was great but pretty rammed! Good venue though for atmosphere and there are 2 or 3 terraces above the main floor with good views and bars on every floor! If it wasn't a mid week nite I would be back in a flash! I have front row for Milano and am stoked - and very jealous if you can get to the other shows!
-
Wow thanks for the photos of the Italian venues - makes me even more stoked that I've scored front row tickets for Milan!! I prefer to see gigs in Europe than even in my own country of Scotland, as I find the asshole quota at gigs here is too high. In general I really like that European audiences tend to LISTEN more then really go for it in the appreciation. I think some bands find that slightly disconcerting to start with but I think it's really cool that people listen rather than spend time getting pissed or talking with their friends or on thir bloody phones! So yes come to Europe for

From your European correspondent: May 07 - Paris Le Bataclan, Ghent De Vooruit, Amsterdam Paradiso. July 07 - Glasgow Indian Summer Festival November 07 - Dublin Vicar Street (both nights) May 09 - Braga Teatro Circo, Santiago De Compostela Palacio De Congresos (Venues I'm good with, actual dates are beyond me) Also had tickets for Newcastle Nov 07 which was cancelled.

I really enjoyed this show - we had weird seats though - sitting in wooden thrones almost right on the side of the stage, so the view was good but the sound kinda one sided... Jeff was in very good form and just kept on wanting to add songs and more songs to the set it seemed and although the crowd seemed a bit reserved, close inspection (from my throne!) revealed they were really getting into it. It might have been the exposure to the 34C heat we all had to avoid to get into the show! Jeff apologised for having no Portuguese and asked what the word for for 'stiffing' was as he believed t

I bought (in a second hand store) a press copy of SBS about 6 weeks before it came out and although I enjoyed it, when the offical release came around (which I bought) it didn't quite feel like 'the event' if should. So this time I have signed the pledge for sheer abstainance!!!

Yesterday I received an email saying that my tickets for Braga would be in the post no later than Monday 18th, then today I get another mail exactly as above. It should be OK - but you do worry, don't you...
-
OK well my apologies if this breaks any protocols or whatever - I just thought it may have been missed by most.

Excuse me if someone's already posted this - it seems to have been on line since last week but here is what I think is the first review from Uncut's John Mulvey: Wilco: "Wilco (The Album)" posted 2009-05-06 12:37:37 "Four or five listens in, I figured it might be useful to postpone the new playlist for a day and blog some preliminary thoughts on the new Wilco album,

I'm waiting to hear about my tickets for Braga in Portugal also. That's absolutely fine if they COBO ('Care of Box Office') them - at least they will be safely available on the night, but presumably then they will be refunding everyone for the handling and postage charges at EU 13.00 then as they will not be keeping the end of their contract with us as purchasers... Or am I being too naiive??
-
Just brilliant - well done on that post!! On a sober note - I can't believe he's only looking for 50K (I presume that how much a hip replacement costs these days) - with the profile Wilco has now they probably earn that for a couple of reasonably sized venue gigs now. I predict the new album will give them a #1 in the states this year - surely Bennet's argument would be that he has contributed to the profile of the band in that period and his lost income is in lieu of that? It's a shame - the guy is obviously desperate to get this op done and paid for. It'll probably cost him 50K to dra
