I Met Lou Reed (and Laurie Anderson) Tonight

Superb!! You guys need a bigger stage. Probably my favorite VU song ever. -
I wish they would release Kicking Television on vinyl

I think that happened 20+ years ago? But as long as musicians care about things like vintage mics and tube amps, some of them will also care about good old analog recording. I hope. And a lot of the digital stuff these days sounds a hundred times better than it did at the beginning. If you're just talking about the aesthetic...yeah, vinyl is hard to beat. I have a big collection of vinyl that I'll never part with, but I enjoy the convenience of the ipod thing a lot also. -

The last I saw said unit sales have gone down the last couple of years, though not nearly as bad as CD sales. Definitely. -

It's tough the way the vinyl biz is right now. Several pressing plants have shut down for good, and I believe most of the majors are left using one plant in this part of the world. So costs are up, and production runs of 1000 are not likely to make the radar. Maybe it'll change in the future, who knows. -
Thanks for the reminder. I think I have at least 5 of her LP's in the basement, and I'm ashamed to say I've never listened to any of them. Must. Rectify.

I wish the same. But to be honest, the sound quality on KT is pretty damn good any way you hear it. I'd rather they reissue Summerteeth and A.M., which are next to impossible to find. -
I'm not sure about that. Bands who need venues of a certain size, do they really have an alternative?

It's refreshing to read an article where linguists aren't bemoaning such things as being the end of civilization.

I heard that too, and I'm happy for Jeremy. But BPS is a special treasure of original folk songs - much like Texas Campfire Tapes was.. before Michele Shocked got a record contract and started making more commercial records. Plus this is supposed to be about unknown records.

That is hilarious. You and Jeff shared a can of coke?

Don't forget, the USPS takes it from the border to your door. Canada's to blame for a lot of things, but not everything. lol p.s. I believe you'll be sitting right behind the O.P. Also - this will be simulcast on Siruis, so shout loud you guys!

Huh? I don't think Jeff's any kind of a nazi. He's the 'center' of Wilco and steers the creative forces behind the world's best rock band. I honestly don't think Wilco could have survived its' ups and downs without Jeff at the helm. Isn't that what I said?

I sometimes wonder 'what if' John had had room to develop his lead vocal.......... Then again, Tweedy needed this to be "his band", and if not for him I doubt there'd even be a Wilco post-'99 or so. The Band had Rick, Richard and Levon each capable of great lead vox. And maybe that's where they'll always be rated higher than Wilco. I do think John's backing harmonies are a huge and perhaps underrated asset in Wilco's sound. Same for his bass playing.

isadorah's license plates are pretty nice. Here's my tally so far: t-shirts (1) bumper stickers (2) cellphone themes (1) desktop themes (3) old ticket stubs (1) cell ringtones - none yet posters - none yet

I'll be taping it....not quite 'being there' but better than nothing. Thanks for the info!

John wrote and sang this track. Very nice performance, the band sounded really good and John obviously doesn't suffer from 'Stage Fright'. It sounded like some people in the crowd were singing along too. I still think "parlay" is a word that shouldn't be allowed in song lyrics, but hey. It's a good song.
