  1. Hey Chris - thanks for the link to the skyarts site. Nice photos and I think I can even see myself in your vid. I was there just behind you with a mate of mine - you might remember he got you to swipe him a bottle of water from the stage? As for that Jimbo guy - quit being such a whiner. The crowd were the most easy going and accomodating I ever seen and if you'ld wanted to you coulda moved. Now all we need is a torrent of the show!
  2. Hey Sam! Sorry but no, don't have it. But good to see another Irish fan here. Don't suppose you're heading to the November shows?
  3. Rickenbackers are nice guitars - no doubt there. Just not my cup of tea! You should check out Freshman Guitars if they've a stockist in your area. Great guitars - bought three of 'em in the last two years. Great balance of price and quality. Their PRS style body has an amazing tone and quite honestly could be sold for twice the price and still be amazing value.
  4. The real shame here is that they promised on wilcoworld to fix this asap. It seems it was a bit too difficult for them and they've just given up leaving all us European (and Japanese) fans without the extras. Dunno how it is in other countries but here in Ireland if you advertise a product with a certain feature set it has to be provided. (Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act, if I remember correctly). If the product is faulty they are required by Irish law to provide a refund or exchange for a fully working product. Obviously no-one is gonna get that worked up about it, but posting her
  5. Just wondering if there are any floating around? Have the disc that came with The Wilco Book that has a few. Is there a more complete collection?
  6. Definitely agree that those guitars are worse when it comes to live feedback, but having played a 335 for about 6-7 years I can definitely tell you its a bit of a tricky beast when you're playing live. But it is such a nice guitar it almost makes it bearable.....
  7. Cool about the cameras - looking forward to seeing some Tweedy crowd-antics!
  8. Easier question would be what you CAN'T listen to while having a smoke!
  9. It's pretty bad - the production is at fault. It would be easy to lay it at the feet to the mastering engineer but I think the mixes he got must have been so skewed that this was the best he coud get. That's what happens when you leave Corgan have total control.... I was a big fan - even loved Adore and Machina - but this is terrrible in every way. Some bands just say what they have to say and then hit a brick wall. Billy: You hit that wall some time back I'm afraid.
  10. Got a 335 but be aware of it's limitations. Hollow-bodies are a bitch live. Personally I only take mine out for recording. Don't really see why the choice is between this and a tele. The sound of both guitars is miles apart. Maybe you're not too sure what you're looking for in terms of tone? I had a friend in a similiar situation about two years ago, he counldn't decide what to go with and his choices were pretty varied. I eventually talked him into an SG and a custom EMG pickup setup. It gave him a pretty varied tone in just one guitar. Might be an option for you.
  11. Fingers crossed but the "I got it completely wrong for the past 2 years!" doesn't inspire confidence.....
  12. Blues driver is a great pedal I must admit. Well worth a purchase. That said, so is the Tube screamer. Best advice is to demo them both with your guitar and amp setup and see which one works for you.
  13. If you're looking for something that will do a very close approximation of that amp try some of the new Crate amps. we've switched from Voxs to them as they just had the edge we were looking for in performance and price. (And they don't weigh nearly as much as those bloody heavy Voxs!!!)
  14. SM 57 for the guitars without a doubt. Not for the vocals - SM 58 vocal mikes are live mikes - they will do the job but not to the requisite standard for vocal recording. I'd recommend a seinnheiser condenser mike - they vary in price, but are well worth the money. Just make sure you don't use them live though as they are nowhere near as robust as the 58s in that setting. Most important thing here is to pick up a good vocal pre-amp. Trust me when I tell you that it will be the best 80-90 euros you will ever spend on recording equipment. Check out musicstore.com for an idea on prices.
  15. If you didn't get the London show it has been floating around on torrent - that said the May 25th Stuttgart show is doing the rounds and is a bit better imho.
  16. Analogueman: No it wasn't. It was always supposed to be for the EU as well but some error in production has caused EU and Japanese consumers to be unable to access it. They promised to rectify it in the two weeks after the release but have since removed the "How To Access the ECD" section from the site. Neill: Search google for the tracks. There are a number of music blogs that are hosting them - that's where I got mine from. If you have trouble pm me and I'll point you in the right direction.
  17. www.thefewerthebetter.com Old school punk and classic rock mixed with a smidgeon of pychedilia, and a side-order of big-ass solos! Second album due September-ish.
  18. Just a request here - are any tapers gonna be going to the festival? If so please record the Wilco set!!! Thanks!
  19. Fair enough but your points are really separate from the spirit of the event. It's not a music showcase, they're not here to teach people what they should be listening to - it's an event that they want to hit the most people with, therefore "worse" more popular bands are gonna be playing it. Honestly, did you really expect anything else? My advice: find a good festival that plays good music (Primavera, perhaps?) and go to it and forget about the whole thing!
  20. Wilco won't play it because they are too busy driving their 20 litre VWs around! Get with the program people!!! Waronwar: The point with these concerts is that they want the most people possible to pay attention to the message, so what's the problem with them being popular?
  21. Plus "The Wilco Book" and the Greg Kot book "Learning How To Die."
  22. Check the downloads sticky at the top of the page.
  23. Bought of you are right! Bought ST and IATTBYH, got a loan of the Man In the Sand DVD. Got all the Son Volt stuff, waiting on Down With and the Tupelo stuff. Got two months off work starting today - Give me time!
  24. What other band is so cool about tapers and traders? They are generous guys. SBS was my first album and since buying it I have bought all the albums both DVDs and both books, a t-shirt and poster from the official store, as well as taking advantage of the site here for the demos, live shows, etc. I think they are a band whose generosity with their fans is repaid in their sales figures. I have to say it makes me want to NOT d/l stuff by them illegally, and rather pay for the official release. And of course if anyone wants to send me a PM with that song I won't say no seeing as it's the only o
  25. Sent at least one or two before they identified the problem on the CD, and one after. No result. Kinda thought they would've turned a blind eye to direct links seeing as it would solve the problem for them.
