  1. I think it's a bit early to be making a call like that. If I was a betting man, I'd say they'll visit NZ after those Melbourne shows. It would be nice to know soon though - I'd make the trip over to Melbourne or Sydney to see 'em if they don't make it across the ditch this time.
  2. There’s no point trying to add another reason why this album is so good – I think that’s been covered. YHF is without a doubt one of, if not my, favourite album. I find it is extremely comforting to listen to. It hasn’t dated at all to my ears, and is continually interesting and exciting. I still hear new things on each listen. That is all.
  3. This sucker has also caught my attention. Do you think the sizing will be similar to that of the American Apparel Tees?
  4. The MIDI standard has been pretty solid since the 80s. Any keyboard that has a MIDI Out port can be used as a “controller”. Dedicated MIDI Controller keyboards have no built-in sounds and generally have lots of controller types, like sliders and wheels. Usually theycan split their keyboard into multiple MIDI zones. For the ability to play sounds from a MIDI device (software emulator or hardware),any old MIDI keyboard should do the job.
  5. I agree. The Wilco Story is a pretty good one, and not everybody has heard it. A cracker of a story, like theirs, is exactly the the sort of thing that might get a reader interested enough to seek out their music. That's a good thing. The curse of being a Wilco fan is that you can never discover them again.
  6. Play Wilco Bingo the next time you read a Wilco story. Here's a draft scorecard to get you started. Includes blank spaces for you to add your favourite wilco bio sound-bites. Enjoy!
  7. I don't know about my wife, but I think I listen to wilco too much.
  8. Whoa. That would've been something. Private Universe is one Neil's best songs. Get any photos? Time to dial up "Together Alone" on the iPod, I think.....
  9. I agree, that’s not that far away – 9 months. Most of those months are summer/holiday months too, and we all know that they fly by pretty quickly. Geez, you wouldn’t want to get anyone pregnant about now. Imagine that, in 9 months time your life-partner starts going into labour and you have to choose between accompanying her to the hospital or going to the Wilco gig. Man, that’d be a tough call.
  10. WhatWilco songs featured during the film? As,we know, the soundtrack album has a live version of “Jesus, etc” – did that getsome good airtime, and did they throw any other Wilco songs? One of the Trailers featured nothing’severgonnastandinmyway– was that in there anywhere?
  11. The interview with John is definitely worth a listen. A tantalising sentence at the end - "...back in May". Does that mean Wilco in NZ in May 2010? Do they plan/book that far out?
  12. Mr Jaffaman, if that is your real name, you seem to have quite a lot of inside info on this. What's your connection to the project/National radio? Thanks for posting. I'm looking forward to tuning-in shortly....
  13. Let's not forget this cracker, funked-up version of IATTBYH, that someone else recently posted here:
  14. Article in NZ paper, Sunday Star Times (2 August 2009). Res might be a bit low for easy reading - let me know if they are.

    Spin

I’m not holding out a lot of hope of finding a copy down here in NZ. I’m thinking about resorting to e-Bay. Desperate times.

    Spin

I agree, "Cissy Strut" (which is called "Missy Strut" on "The Original Funkmasters" compilation, for some reason) is pretty damn close. Well spotted!

    Spin

It looks like Spin Magazine is hard to come by in these parts these days. It use to be around over a year or so ago, but I don't think there was enough of a market for it to continue to be imported. Any New Zealand-based VC'ers (and I know you're out there) know where I might be able to get a copy? Anyone else in the world know if you can order just the August edition from somewhere on the interweb (without having to subscribe for a year)? Cheers!
  18. Totally agree. The performance had great feel and joy. Let's not forget the keyboard guys - the interplay between Pat on the uber cool white wurlitzer, and Mikael on the organ was tremendous! wilco & feist loves you, baby
  19. Thanks for posting. I really liked Nick's review on National Radio - he's a very articulate and knowledgeable guy. It was a good follow up to his excellent analysis of the AOAF DVD (which is unfortunately no longer available for download). To the rest of you - there's only a few days left to grab the album review - definitely worth a listen.
