  1. I guess it would be too hard to follow stories of Camp Locke, Camp Jack, the freighter, and the Others all at once. The thing that really irritated me about last night's episode is how pronouns got tossed around without reference and it was supposed to be some big dramatic thing. I know it's been going on for awhile, but last night it felt particularly awkward. Especially in Kate's whole conversation with the lawyer about bringing Aaron into the court room, right before we learned that she "has a son." I get how they're trying to build suspense to drop the bomb on us, but... ugh. Pretty sure
  2. Last season, I think in the episode where Ben took Locke to see Jacob, he told Richard to take everyone to the temple.
  3. Oh man, how have I not read this one? Thanks for the heads up, I will track down a copy right now...
  4. This is adorable. I hope I get to meet her one day, because you are an absolute doll. Yeah, what's up with that. No excuses next time, bub.
  5. It's a known fact that people with accents have things lost in translation.
  6. Definitely among the best. And a unique perspective since he went in with the first wave -- I feel like most of what I've read otherwise (except We Were Soldiers) is 1968 and later. It was assigned reading in my Vietnam WAR class, too. Caputo went to Loyola. This reminds me, Michael Herr's Dispatches reads like a grunt memoir but he was actually an embedded reporter. It's really good, too, although I spent the first 1/3 of the book questioning if I was misinformed about him being a reporter because the style is so convincing.
  7. Nice! I worked in a bookstore in high school and was always doing that, too. Now I work in a library... Have you read Philip Caputo's A Rumor of War? It's one of my favorites about Vietnam.
  8. This may be the most comprehensive history of the war I've ever read. Well-written, too.
  9. I know you two will keep these people in order. Just keep the beat downs and links to previous threads coming. I've got your backs.
  10. I like watching you and Aman tear down redundant and misplaced threads. re: John's amp jump... that was awesome, and I bet it was driven by a million things including the energy in the place and how we treated him when he sang. You should've felt the love going out to him after "It's Just That Simple." Definitely got some of the loudest and longest applause of the night. Some people on the rail said he was crying.
  11. I can't wait to meet you in April. Off to the show!
  12. I hope you call me again from in line. How do y'all on the rail not piss your pants?
  13. Oh no doubt. I agree with bjorn about Polk. Also add the Mexican-American War and Manifest Destiny to the list of Polk's chili accomplishments.
  14. But Washington's birthday is in two days, so there's still hope.
  15. I will see you again tonight, but I wanted to establish our connection on here!! I am excited to meet this badass muthafucka. Edie, you've also met VWCommercial (Rob!!)
  16. You can't see her, but HappeningStone's immediately to my left and renic was right behind us.
  17. Hmmm, she let me join too. But I invited Sooie to be my co-manager and he sweats a lot.
  18. Interesting. At least we're getting the higher end of the "3-6 additional episodes" estimate.
  19. I wanted so say something but suddenly feel unwelcome. And here I was gonna schlep you all over town.
  20. Oh I see what you're saying. Everyone on the island lives life in reverse dog years. I was wondering last night how a 31 min difference calculates into time-space equations, but my math skills stopped evolving in about 7th grade. The Walt thing reminds me, the writers claim they planned for the rapid puberty growth when they casted a kid that age. But they also like to jerk us around a lot in those podcasts of theirs.
  21. Ha, yeah. That, and Locke asking "What is the smoke monster," and Rose's quip "If you say 'live together die alone' one more time" at the end of last season... the writers are listening to the fan feedback, and then mocking us right in the script.
