I wore one of the small Obama buttons (no words) to the polling place and no one said a thing. I also wore a Wilco shirt, but they weren't on the ballot.
I realized halfway through my voting that the Obama button on my bag was on display, but I was not accused of electioneering.*
*which is a Radiohead song.

This morning the Trib reported that 544,000 of Chicagoland's 4.76 million registered voters have voted early and they expect the number to be around 697,000 by the time early voting ends tomorrow evening.
edit: I early voted yesterday and had about a 10 minute wait. I just beat a huge rush though.

Happy birthday!!!!!!!!!

That sounds excellent. I am staying at the chicago international hostel near loyola university i believe, for two nights. but then moving to the H.I. Chicago in the loop. I have limited internet access right now in Hong Kong so ill be able to really pick through this thread once i get in. I have hours of stories for those interested. and a beat up travel guitar for some wilco tunes.
1. I am obsessed with SE Asia and am dying to travel there!
2. I live within sight of your first hostel. As LouieB mentioned, there is Hamilton's. But beware: that's where all the Loyola freshman with fake IDs go. Bruno's is my favorite favorite favorite local bar (that's what LouieB referenced as the packaged goods store) and is a little north of the hostel at Sheridan & Loyola Ave. A few blocks further north of that (Sheridan & Columbia) is the Oasis. Kinda divey and Loyola students who are of-age hang out there a lot. They have dart boards and pool tables and stuff. Down at Broadway and Thorndale is Old St Andrew's, and also Moody's Pub. Both serve food. A little closer to the hostel at Broadway and Granville is the Sovereign (another extremely-locals bar) and the Pumping Company. P-Co has all the sports tv packages, a weekend brunch, and both a decent selection of good beers and specials for those who are on more of a college budget (think: $4 pitchers of Busch Light.) If you want a good meal (not bar food) and some nice microbrews, check out Uncommon Ground at Devon & Glenwood, a few blocks west of the hostel.

I'm pretty sure a suspension could never be enforced in the post-season.
So then there's really no immediate consequence to brawling in the post-season, other than being kicked out of that day's game. Interesting.
-
Tomorrow's game could use a nice bench-clearer to reset the tone.
Ok as long as you mention it, maybe someone here can answer this question Bobble and I had after the Dodgers-Phillies deal the other day. Say there was a brawl in the playoffs and suspensions were handed down. Would those players have to serve them immediately or could they appeal and serve them next year?

Creed: That's Andrea, the office bitch. You'll get used to her.
Creed: In the 60's, I had a lot of sex, mostly outdoors, with a lot of people. A man might've slipped in, there'd be no way to know.
I love Creed so much.

Angela: In the Martin family we like to say "Looks like someone took the slow train from Philly." That's code for "Check out the slut."

Jesus Crispy, woman. STFU!
Is that your Myers-Briggs type?

Dwight: Once I’m officially regional manager, my first order of business will be to demote Jim Halpert. So I will need a new number two. My ideal choice? Jack Bauer. But he is unavailable. Fictional. And overqualified.

Some states, you can vote by filling out a form and mailing it in, even if you will be around on Election Day.
We can also go to polling places in Chicago. There's the Election Commission HQ downtown plus one place in each of the 50 wards (mine's at the local branch library, for example.) They're all open Mon-Sat plus the HQ is open on Sundays.

really shitty season ending games over the last 100 years.
Um, hi. Actually 100 years for this fan's organization. And counting. Always counting.

I've got another one austrya will appreciate... my kitchenware is grouped by what I'm most likely to use it for, with 3 drawers further subdividing my small baking tools (drawers for bread stuff, cookie stuff, etc.) When my roommate first moved here and was still unemployed, she was cruisin' for a bruisin' because at least twice a week she'd rearrange the kitchen out of boredom. I put a stop to that real quick.

Yes, too. Except that's expanded across four bookcases. I have one entirely devoted to children's literature.
Anyone else keep a running list of gift ideas for Christmas and birthdays that they constantly update throughout the year?
Mine would if I had more space... although I guess if you include the "less important" books I've delegated to the bookcases at my parents' place, this method covers three bookcases.
And yes to the lists!
My INTJ things were all moderate, too.

Do you have your cd's arranged in any particular order?
I did back in the day, but I don't keep cd's at my place. They're all in boxes at my parents' house. But my bookcase is arranged thematically in order of importance to me and I group the authors so my favorites are in the middle of the shelves for easy access.

INTJ
...not surprising that I catalog books for a living.

some of the lyrics are really bad imo.
"Sink Ships" ... what's with all the job application stuff?

Clark: Where's Eddie? He usually eats these goddamn things.
Catherine: Oh not recently, Clark. He read that squirrels were high in cholesterol.
