i saw them touring off The Dark Horse and they were pretty cool, but i think they've got a more expanded lineup this time around.
-
really? i hadn't heard that about the release date their last one 'Are The Dark Horse' is really great too. i've only heard their first album a few times so far, so can't comment strongly either way, but did like it a bit.

The Besnard Lakes Are The Roaring Night starting to think this may end up ahead of Teen Dream for me...
-
yeah, Radiohead's last MN show was in 1998 when i still lived in Montana
-
yeah, digging that a lot myself pretty bummed they're not coming to Minnesota again on this upcoming tour
-
Langhorne is awesome. while i dug 'Be Set Free', i like most of his previous records more. check out his previous S/T album if you've not heard that one, that record ruled and was way underrated. Electric Love Letter and When The Sun's Gone Down are great too. if you've never seen him and his band live, you owe it to yourself, they're just fabulous fun live.
-
if nothing else they always have really pretty artwork!
-
friend of mine who has herd some roughs from this said it's overly mellow and slow... hopefully those are just very EARLY roughs

while the last album wasn't awful, hoping for better things from this one...

The Gleam EP's are the Avett's best work bar none (especially the first one, all 5 of those songs are in my top 10 Avett Bros songs), then Mignonette for me.
-
it's more dad rock than adult contemp... but i wouldn't disagree with you, neither are the bands best work whatsoever seeing Avetts for the 4th time tonight tho! can't wait to see Low Anthem too
-
the album is called 'High Violet' http://www.highviolet.com/

yeah! $89 surprisingly granted i don't give 2 shits about seeing Clapton in 2010
-
just a heads up to anyone who downloaded the Broken Bells album prior to the last week or so... the original leak from a few months ago was a rough mix and has a different tracklisting. the songs in some spots are quite a bit different.
-
$125? not really, no. it's not uncommon amongst baby boomer acts, but it's not the standard going rate by any means. Green Day still charge $45 in arenas (yes i realize their fans are younger, who cares), and John Mayer charges half that. Black Eyed Peas are $75 even Clapton here was under $100
-
OOF. $50-125... so much for being an everyman Tom
-
the Free Energy show tonight was frickin' balls to the wall rock goodness. i'd seen them last summer, but after having heard the full length and knowing the songs... damn. Foreign Born put on a killer set once again too... sadly about 3/4 of the crowd had left after Free Energy definitely check out Airing of Grievances, it's good stuff
-
I and Love and You is a bit too close to adult-contemporary at times for me. not a big fan of piano being the main instrument in the band at all, that's not why i got into them. there's maybe 2 reviewers on the entire site i can actually stand
-
that Pitchfork review of Mumford & Sons is total bullshit btw
-
at first i wasn't nearly as into this as The Airing of Grievances, but now i think it might just be better. can't wait to see them in a month
-
LMAO. freakin' hilarious/awesome
-
as great as the Avett's are live, i really hope they don't bother working with Rick Rubin ever again...
-
