ugh. well i do still have a free $5 GC i guess
-
^^ did that leak somewhere or just bought it?
-
yaaaaaaay! love that record
-
the last song is the only one that doesn't do a ton for me at the moment. it's not bad, just seems sorta meandering.
-
i gotta admit the headliners do nothing for me... now i love Macca and the Cure, but neither are anything that special that you can't see elsewhere or at other festivals. that said, Fri & Sat do look awesome word is Bruuuuuuuuuce will be announced as a surprise headliner for Sat ala Prince last year, since Bruce is in LA the night before and has a few days off...
-
John Mayer here... that progression is totally something he'd write
-
*shrug* i'm not one to take people's lyrics too literally usually anyway, so i won't argue with you
-
i guess doesn't he talk about soldiers too though? i'll be honest, haven't paid much attention to the lyrics of the record just yet
-
there's a lot of other subjects tackled in the song too though, could be about a bunch of things it seems
-
seems a bit weird if it's Patterson considering they're still friends, but i dunno
-
boring yacht rock IMO. the horns are especially cheesy
-
i'm guessing it's the Knotty Pine/So Far Around The Bend one that is for sale in the UK
-
let's do this... at the moment: 1. However Long 2. Soldiers Get Strange 3. No Choice In The Matter 4. Sunstroke 5. Coda 6. Good 7. The Blue (even though this sounds somewhat like a John Mayer compilation, lol) 8. Streetlights 9. Cigarettes & Wine 10. Seven Mile-Island 11. The Last Song I Will Write
-
However Long OWNS
-
this compilation is amazing. think there's only maybe 5 or 6 out of the 31 tracks i don't like that Sufjan song is more like 3 or 4 songs in one. i dig some of it, but the last 3 minutes is dull city. he's actually done stuff like that before, on his Enjoy Your Rabbit record years ago... my faves are the Yeasayer and National tracks by far. both Bon Iver tracks are nice too
-
Jandek?
-
true! although i expect that to change with this record... at least a bit bigger anyway
-
i've finally 100% come to terms with Isbell leaving the Truckers... dude is too fucking amazing to have been relegated to writing just 2-4 songs per album.
-
over off Glenwood Ave in west Minneapolis, right near Theodore Wirth park there's an abandoned grain elevator (least i think it was that, not positive) there. a year or so ago some kid fell like 80' through the floor there and lived, lol.
-
i've never seen an E Street show that wasn't amazing
-
SOOOOOOOO good Video for Drumroll (couple friends are in it, i wussed out cuz of the cold... which makes 2 videos i've wussed out on in the last year due to cold (Cloud Cult prev)
-
just remembered when Dr. Dog was here in fall of '07, was the same night as Wilco WITH Andrew Bird opening and that double header worked out fine
-
shit. April 11th is the same night as Andrew Bird... luckily that show should be done by 10:30-11 at the latest, so I can hopefully pull a double header
