  1. guess we're gonna have to agree to disagree on this record... honestly was surprised how much i enjoyed it, as 2 of those first 4 songs released were pretty poor, but thankfully wound up being my least faves on the record for the most part.
  2. fucking awesome. and my favorite artwork of the year so far
  3. i'd argue The Wrestler is near Terry's Song quality in terms of solo songs...
  4. yeah... wasn't sure what to think of Good Eye first time, but now i love it. it'll kick ass live.
  5. totally... other than maybe 3-4 songs, Magic never clicked with me at all... i like this new one all the way through minus 2-3 songs... way way better than Magic for me. like i said above, it's a total mixed bag... maybe the most varied Bruce album to date, but somehow it works for me. is it amazing? no... am i excited to see a handful of these songs on the upcoming tour? you bet. i'd say it's a solid 3.5/5 record
  6. while a lot of the lyrics (they're totally tongue in cheek btw) are really dumb, i totally LOVE that line: sorry. plus the second half of that song kills musically Bruce has ALWAYS had a pretty big element of cheese to his music & lyrics, this is nothing new.
  7. yeah DC + both MSG shows my wife and I met on 6/24/98 at the Rapid City Pearl Jam show, got married on 6/24/06 (then saw PJ + Tom Petty 2 nights in a row on 6/26 & 6/27). so when PJ announced they were playing MSG on 6/24 & 6/25, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to see them at sucha famed venue on the 10th anniversary of when we met the shows weren't amazing by any means, but was still very glad we made the trip
  8. 2 full songs, yeah, but tons of other riffs and other parts from the rest of the record too
  9. i saw them 3 shows this tour... they were def really good, and Matt's good live. but the drumming he writes for Pearl Jam is very much straight forward rock beats for the most part (there's been a few exceptions here or there), compared to his Soundgarden drumming, which kinda bums me out. no question he's a better rock drummer than Jack Irons, but Jack has a much more natural and earthy feel that i prefer... and the 2 albums they did with him were awesome and much more varied.
  10. Simon stole a lot of Graceland from Los Lobos.
  11. yup. Yield WAS their last truly great record sadly... Binaural, the prodution was shitty... that and they left 3-4 of the best songs from those sessions off the record (Fatal, Sad, etc.). the Riot Act b-sides were better than the record for the most part too (Undone, Down, & Other Side) hoping that them going back to Brendan O'Brien (last one he did was Yield) helps... but i'm thinking getting Jack Irons back in the band would help more... Matt's a great drummer, but i feel he doesn't really bring much to the table with Pearl Jam... certainly nothing like the beats he wrote for Sound
  12. see i just don't get that... i mean the latest Britney Spears album is bad... but it's not "unlistenable"...
  13. actually having seen them 3x now, their bassist is very talented and their guitarist/keyboardist is decent as well.
  14. the S/T i'd agree... Riot Act however is 100% without question their worst album to date for me. it has about 3-4 redeeming songs
  15. if it was... that's even more lame. so nobody who is well off can start/be in a band?
  16. they're rich??? uh, no they're not even as big as Arcade Fire... and i can tell you no one in that band is even close to "rich"
  17. yeah... you could say i'm a fan... granted these days really only of their live show, but yeah.
  18. funny you should mention that... Vampire Weekend + Andrew W.K. covering "Don't Come Around Hear No More"
  19. agreed. i can guarantee even those who didn't catch on to Radiohead w/ Kid A, as long as they were old enough in '94, enjoyed Creep...
  20. hahaha.... no shit. their last show here was about 40% stand up 60% music
  21. absolutely loving this record... while the Merritt & Jens comparisons will be vast, he also reminds me of Adam Ant a lot...
