  1. ditto! hoping hearing a lot of these new songs live changes my mind a bit (cuz i loved the versions of the 4-5 songs he debuted @ the Guthrie/Cedar shows in December '08)
  2. i love a handful of songs from it... but on the whole i found it to be a little too sleepy for me to listen to it too often they're really good live
  3. Well, fwiw, I don't care much for Radiohead but Andrew is one of my favorite artists. Anonanimal does remind me of Radiohead somewhat, but that's about the only track that does. i'd argue that any Radiohead influence/comparisons should be attributed to Dosh, who was doing that sort of thing long long before RH ever picked up a sampler
  4. it's been streaming here for a week or two as well: http://andrewbird.net/useless.php Dark Matter is an amazing song, but probably outside of my top 5 on Armchair
  5. the phrase rebel without a clue was used before Westerberg wrote it anyway
  6. June 4 & 5 Jones Beach (New York) June 6 Great Woods (Boston) June 7 Susquehanna Bank Center (Philly) June 9 Asheville Civic Center (Asheville, NC) June 16 Fox Theater(St. Louis) June 18 Post-Gazette Pavilion (Pittsburgh) June 19 Deer Creek (Indy) June 20-21 Alpine Valley (East Troy)
  7. dunno who's gonna open the second half of the tour, but Ra Ra Riot are opening in Brooklyn and Loney, Dear are opening a good chunk of the first half of the tour... both great acts, so consider that in the $$
  8. he he, it is a pretty awesome cover looks like it's drawn on a brown paper towel almost
  9. heard about this guy a few months ago when he signed to Animal Collective's label, but didn't hear any of his stuff until just now (after i saw he was coming to Minneapolis w/ AA Bondy), this record is really fun: comes out on February 3rd, but you can hear it now thanks to the interlinks. check out "You Can't Force A Dance Party" in particular
  10. yeah, i was unaware until that NPR article too... interesting Matt didn't do it himself
  11. hard to say... they've not been too fair to Andrew in the past besides Swimming Hour (which they gave a 9)... so i guess it just depends if Joe Tangari likes it more than Armchairs or not. if not, it'll get a 7.x i really really hope Joe reviews it again, only makes sense for him to imo
  12. much longer version of it w/ the full band in view:
  13. while i think Andrew's worth that, our show here is $22 & $26, so that kinda sucks :/
  14. kind of a dorky little rocker... but fun
  15. yeah... there's a Chicago presale right now: http://www.andrewbird.tickets.musictoday.c...d/calendar.aspx
  16. HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT
  17. yup! i've actually not missed a single of his shows @ Xcel i didn't go to the Target Center show on 7/7/07, just First Ave tho. think these are all the ones i've seen: Northrop in '99 for his b-day week (Doug E Fresh, Q-Tip, Maceo, etc. all guested, it was a giant 3 hour jam session and not that great imo) both '01 Xcel shows all 3 '04 Xcel shows First Ave 7/7/07 and twice @ Paisley Park in '00 (all just jam sessions tho)
  18. i've been pretty damn lucky to have seen him like 8 or 9x since i moved here in '99 and 3 of them are among my top 10-15 shows, no question. the shortened First Ave set last year was an insane highlight
  19. yeah the vocal effects on Crimson are a bit much, but holy shit that second track is HOT
  20. yeah the early leak from the week of Christmas sounded terrible.
  21. it's on the cusp... but i think it would easily fail the "wife test" for me i need to stop listening to it though, i'm losing some interest... but i think it's more the candy syndrome... ie: too much of a good thing
