even though there actually is no "Emma" that's hilarious
-
Bon Iver came out in '07... so i'd say TMOE but what Matt said as well
-
scalpers and brokers often sell tickets before they actually have them... the either guess approx where he location is, or they have means of guaranteeing them those same seats for almost every show (season ticket holders, donors, etc.) mega lame
-
hmm... here's the actual cover art: cool... but i much prefer that other one. apparently promos have just gone out though... giddyup!
-
love these guys.
-
lol. musically i meant
-
oh it totally is a pretty lame scoring system, i don't think many will disagree w/ you there
-
http://www.archive.org/details/mmj2008-12-31 sounds amazing. and sorry Tangara, just listened to Islands In The Stream... Nicole sounds AMAZING on it
-
huh. dunno Grace Potter too much, only the name. i actually don't think Nicole is all THAT hot honestly, but i def loved her set at Lolla
-
oh for sure... but have you seen some of those full Bonnaroo setlists? they were both fun + epic from the videos i've watched. Mariah Carey? have you heard her records or seen her solo before?
-
show looked like a blast! not quite as epic as most of their Bonnaroo shows, but still pretty awesome. i need to hear/see that Islands In The Stream cover w/ Nicole Atkins, she's brilliant. the Marvin Gaye one is on YouTube and is great
-
maybe he initially helped with/penned that line in collaboration? guess we'll never know does seem weird otherwise tho
-
well i know that the quantity isn't there, because he only got his "official" recording start in 1966... so the 70's has 6 years on the 60's... so pick a 4 year window in the 70's to compare and i'd say it's pretty damn close. sure his 70's output wins by default just because of how MUCH he put out during that timeframe. i don't think you'd find anyone who would disagree that Neil's peak was from 1969 to 1975
-
yeah... proves my theory that the old rip was terrible... the sound isn't all muffled and shit. now i can finally enjoy the album as it was intended this is the first Animal Collective record I can honestly say i've enjoyed almost all the way through. would def give it somewhere in the 8.5 range, which is saying a lot considering my past disinterest in the band.
-
really? you think his 70's work is that superior to his 60's output? i'd say they're both pretty damn amazing honestly... esp if you're including Buffalo Sprintfield
-
it's a full 9 songs and 50+ minutes, one song passing the 10 minute mark... i'd call it a full album but yes
-
i do. the only post '00 album of Neil's i don't like is Passionate, and to a lesser extent, Chrome Dreams II (even tho most of it's all from the late 80's) if i was to rank the decades of Neil's work... for me: 70's 60's 00's 90's 80's

y'know... listening to Armchair again for the first time in probably 6 months... i honestly can't say I prefer Eggs over this (or vice versa)... stunning piece of work.
-
Swimming Hour is equally great too... right up there w/ Weather
-
nooooooo i like it a lot, i just dont' love it as much as i'd hoped... at this point i'd prolly say... Weather Systems 8.5 Mysterious Production of Eggs 9.1 Armchair Apocrypha 8.9 Noble Beasts 8.5 it's production is just a bit TOO slick for my liking, and the compositions feel very calculated & meticulous... which might be why i love Useless Creatures so much, since it feels very improvisational. NB also doesn't quite have the huge melodies/hooks that Eggs & Amrchair had either.
-
Useless Creatures, the instrumental bonus disc that comes w/ the deluxe Noble Beasts is out there... honestly this blows the proper record away for me... absolutely stunning
-
yup. LOVE love love Unknown Legend...
-
jesus how could i forget that??? put that at #2 i do too. sure some of it is already dated, but the immediacy of the whole product was inspiring. that and After The Garden & Roger and Out are two of my fave post 70's Neil songs
