  1. Neutral Milk Hotel Jesus Christ >> Up and Over We Go (In the Aeroplane Over the Sea) Yeah, but really... all of the damn thing. It's almost like Smile in that it should be listened to as a single, long suite: one piece of music.
  2. ALL of Guided by Voices' Alien Lanes. But, more specifically, from other folks: David Bowie: Oh! You Pretty Things >> Eight Line Poem >> Life on Mars Jane's Addiction: Up the Beach >> Ocean Size
  3. Also, if you are a fan of any sort of Brazilian music: IMDB LINK Check it out. TRAILER:
  4. Nico Icon Depressing as hell, but very insightful.
  5. And shocked that nobody (including me) has yet to mention: THE LAST WALTZ
  6. Fitzgerald's in Berwyn I'm second on the bill, going on at 9 p.m. Hope that some of you can make it. Even with the late notice.
  7. Not sure if it is completely a documentary, per se, but I think it qualifies: 32 Short Films About Glenn Gould It's exactly what the title says that it is. Some of them are documentary, others are dramatizations, others are purely abstract. But it's all worthwhile.
  8. The Devil & Daniel Johnston (Daniel Johnston) Watch Me Jumpstart (Guided By Voices) more-general: The Decline of Western Civilization Exploration of the early-80s LA hardcore scene. With X, Fear, Circle Jerks, The Germs, and a bunch more. Theremin: An Electronic Odyessy The story of the first-ever electronic musical instrument, and its Russian inventor.
  9. My 11-year-old son's class had a mock election. He came home with an "I Voted!" sticker on his shirt, onto which he scrawled "for Chuck Norris."
  10. Local guitar shop just got some of these in. I may have to reconsider that '69 Tele Thinline reissue that I've been saving up for. These are just too pretty.
  11. A politician gives an "Honest Speech" for a change!

  13. Yes. I was there at 6:00, as the polls opened. Second in line.
  14. Reading the AllMusic review of this one, it almost sounds like it might appeal to the part of me that loves Cate Le Bon. True? I'll have to check that out. Thanks!
