  1. That first track is by Catherine Irwin from Freakwater, another brilliant writer. And, Kevin, you will not be sorry.
  2. I was just looking at the site today and really appreciating how good the tunes are there. Thought that I would revive this thread. (If it was ever alive in the first place.) Let me know if you check it out, and what you think of the songs and whatnot. And no, there are none if my own songs on there. This is not a self-promo kinda thing, just a place to share music that we love.
  3. Just picked up that Kelly Hogan album. Does it live up to the 4.5-star review that I quoted above? Can't really say after only one listen, but I can say that it is goddamn good and I am glad that I grabbed it. We'll see how it grows with me. I can see it growing into a 4.5-star album. For sure. Should make my year-end top 5, even in a year this strong.
  4. HEADS UP: Neil is being interviewed by Terry Gross on Fresh Air tomorrow (6/6). I know what I will be streaming.
  5. Ladies and gents, One of the best, most-underrated frontmen in rock history: Larry Damore: Met him at one of my old band's gigs back in the 90's. Turned out to be one of the nicest, most-modest guys I've ever met. Even shy: the opposite of what I saw on stage. Larry Fucking Damore, man. Goddamn Pegboy rips it up.
  6. This one comes out today and I am really looking forward to picking it up:
  7. I've heard that Clocks song. And I love it. I just checked out this vid and I gotta post it, even though most of you have probably heard the song many times. It still kills.
  8. First song starts at 22:30 ("What's a Man to Do?") and features Richard Thompson on guitar. Listening now and it sounds like 70s soft rock with RT on guitar. Guess that I shouldn't be surprised.
  9. Apparently he released some new songs last month: made them available for download and then promptly took them down for some reason or other. And I missed it. Something "beyond Emitt's control." Must be contractural. Anyone able to grab the 3 songs that were out there? New songs are: "What's A Man To Do" "This Wall Between Us" "Just Me and You" Damn. Guests on the album include: Richard Thompson, The Bangles, Keith Olson, and... wow. I can't find them for download now, but there is an interview with his co-conspirator here. And, they play the songs, too. http://thetimemachin...me-machine.h
  10. Least. Favorite. Producer. Every production sounds the same. Like Jeff Lynne.
  11. (actually, I am listening to the FIRST Falstaff album, but this was the best that I could do for an image. it appears to be nowhere on the internet... more invisible than any album i can mention, even one of my own.)
