That was pretty cool, Gtr. More straightforward, yet just weird enough that I could dig it. Thanks.

I really need to give this a listen. I was turned off by Trout Mask Replica and have never gone back to give the Captain another chance. Soon.

Still pretty fucking high up my best of 12 list. The only one really seriously competing for the #1 slot with it is the Fun. record. If you pay attention to such things, I'm sure that you've seen it in my NP quite often. So, I just wanna stir up some more talk about this thing, because I think that it deserves more attention from the board than it's getting. I also think that it would probably hit the sweet spot for a lot of you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJJF-RDsGLM Fucking love this.

Reading the obit, he was a pretty fascinating guy. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/09/books/maurice-sendak-childrens-author-dies-at-83.html?_r=2&pagewanted=all

Yeah. Because Daniel Johnston is awesome. "...but everybody respects the dead." Great line. Although this is my favorite DJ song: -
My man MCA's got a beard like a billy goat!!!

I didn't think that anyone actually thought he was a junkie, I only just checked the byline after reading the first comment and said, "I know that guy!" (sorta.)

Just found this one. It's pretty flippin' great.

The compiler is actually a guy who I knew from another music board: former writer for CMJ, then a freelancer until he landed the gig at Spin. Also plays drums for a band called Parts & Labor. Good musician, too. And I don't think that he's a junkie.

This is freakin' great. Black Crowes covering VU:

Oh, and did I see Richard Thompson in there, or was he another huge oversight?

Honestly, I think that it's a pretty cool list, with a lot of more-outside inclusions than you usually see in stuff like this. Some of my favorites who are never/rarely mentioned get mentioned here, or get much higher ranking than you usually see. Best inclusions: Ira Kaplan David Pajo Annie Clark Curt Kirkwood Greg Sage Nile Rodgers Dr. Know ROBERT QUINE!!!! (my all-time fave) Steve Albini Sonny Sharrock d. boon Andy Gill Verlaine/Lloyd Moore/Renaldo The biggest oversights, in my eyes: Elliot Easton (The Cars) Chris Difford (Squeeze) Those guys can play!

Heard this interview on Morning Edition on my way in to work: http://www.npr.org/2012/05/01/151685956/norah-jones-on-comfort-zones Sounds good. Still sounds like Norah, but... not.
