The Knuckleheads (was that one already taken) The Previously Used Band Names Dusty Pubes Troy McClure (lends itself to some fun stage banter)

I love the intro to this one! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AirZDtIMTM&feature=related

Just to chime in: He may not be a part of that whole old-timers club, but if you like that sound, you will pretty surely like Dwight Yoakam A very solid Buck Owens influence there, and just a great songwriter in his own right. All I know of his stuff really is the greatest hits, but DAMN, are those some great songs! Worth checking out.

Maybe the greatest band in the history of rock. Certainly one of them. Should be mentioned in the same conversations as U2, R.E.M., and The Jam, at least. But, realistically, in the same breath as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones and The Kinks and The Byrds.

Yeah Nick Lowe is a genius, but then so is Bob Andrews (the organ player). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSlyn0WoSjc

But they were formed as bands (cartoon though they may be), and not for another fictional medium.

How to define a fictional band? Let's just define them as a band that was created as a character in a fictional story. So, The Monkees and Spinal Tap DO count (even if they did have a real hit). But, prefab bands like Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys do NOT count. Oh, and said bands MUST have actual music out there that we all can listen to. That said: • The Monkees • Spinal Tap • Dr. Teeth & The Electric Mayhem

Dr. Teeth & the Electric Mayhem OH YEAH!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAPxsaRB30M

I saw them twice: on both the Radiator and Phantom Power tours. The first time was the one that I posted about earlier; exquisite. The second time wasn't as good, but I think that was more the fault of a fairly lame audience.

Aww hell... I guess that there are too many possibilities for "Grass" I was looking for: Pavement EDIT: And I am so clueless as to most of your clues that I haven't yet ventured a guess.

Still need a correct guess for: Grass

The others you guessed correctly. But not this one. And this one was right, too.
