I've heard some talk about these guys on another board and it sounded really cool to me. So, after a couple of years of putting off the purchase in favor of something else that I thought that I needed, I finally picked this up: Black Monk Time So, so good! So, so weird! I am loving this! So... other fans? Let's talk about The Monks! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXKQSxsEAEQ

Whilst I am not from Vancouver, if there is anyone here who is from that beautiful city, I have fallen in love with a band of yours whom I think will qualify for this topic: © (aka - "Circle C"; aka - "Copyright") Any of you Canucks remember them? I now own both the self-titled, and "Love Story" and love them both. Heard about them from a guy on another board who is from Vancouver. But I wanted to bring it out here. Hence the reviving of this old thread. This one is from Love Story: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7-ttcUe4zA&feature=related Very 90's, I know, but I think that it st

On the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the horrifying murder of House of Freaks' Bryan Harvey (and his family), I am posting this (hopefully ongoing) tribute to the man and his amazing band. Seeing as how VC will only allow 1 video per post, I will start with this one: a bonus track off of their amazing Tantilla record: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h7olErTIJg

A: What is that? B: "Sweet, creamy Jesus" is a wonderful phrase that I will begin using (when amongst appropriate company).

Just a bump for these comps. I've been listening to them a lot recently, and I am still digging the hell out of them – with a big shovel! Check 'em out! Vol. 2 has streaming samples at its AMAZON PAGE: -
Best Coast @ The Empty Bottle was pretty much the only major show that I caught all year. It was a very fun time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88fc3Lj5oEU

Agreed. Although Fishbone did come pretty close when they were at the height of their powers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyguJEVSjzU -
Then you should maybe check out this album. It's not all Groovies-esque, but there were several times on the album that I thought there was something that sounded like them. Some good songwriting and just a fun release. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFTsheBzD-o

Just bought this a couple of days ago. Not sure if it's a top 10-type record, but it might be. It IS a lot of fun.

Listening now and I am enjoying the hell out of this. Yeah, the guy has a very serious Dylan fixation, but he does it very well. And, a great song is still a great song. This has a few great songs on there. Recommended for download. And "Speak Plainly, Diana" kicks my ass every damn time. My god, how I love that song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwudUbNdCR0 RIYL: the acoustic sides of... Bob Dylan, Neil Young, John Prine
