Listening now and I am enjoying the hell out of this. Yeah, the guy has a very serious Dylan fixation, but he does it very well. And, a great song is still a great song. This has a few great songs on there. Recommended for download. And "Speak Plainly, Diana" kicks my ass every damn time. My god, how I love that song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwudUbNdCR0 RIYL: the acoustic sides of... Bob Dylan, Neil Young, John Prine

From Chicago station WXRT: http://wxrt.radio.com/2010/12/21/free-download-joe-pug-“nation-of-heat”-ep/ I'm DLing now. Looking forward to it. I like Joe.

I have not seen any mention of this album anywhere on the board. Or, at least nothing comes up in a board search: I know there are a few Jeb Loy Nichols fans on the board here, too. So, has anyone here heard this? Own it? The review makes it sound like a pretty good record, groundbreaking or not. Is this one news to y'all? Seems like the type of thing that might make at least consideration for some of your year-end lists.

Agreed. But I don't think that it's the signature that bumps it up, I think that it's the short run and the weak dollar combination.

Here's the dirt on all three albums, directly from Ian Gomm (in an email to me).

Each of the 3 CDs are 12.50 English, Sterling (about $20 US). I just got an email back directly from Ian (it appears), and he said that he is going to let me know how much it would be for all 3 in a package deal. All are digitally remastered from the original master tapes and will come autographed by Ian. Waiting for Ian's reply to me. I mean, being the big Brinsleys geek that I am, there is no way that I am going to let this go. EDIT: So, no break for all 3. It came to a total of $70 US, for them all. Maybe saved on the shipping cost of one of the discs. Still, I am stoked to hear all this

I think that I just cummed a little.

From the Brinsley Schwarz Facebook page (and Ian Gomm's official site): I sent off an email to find out more about these bad boys. Any of y'all heard/own any of them?

yes.

Okay, so give me shit. But, listen to this song and try not to enjoy it. Too much fun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmG0DqhfDbY And, a nice little Blues Bros. tribute, too. I think that's actually Steve Cropper making an appearance in there!

Your favorite artists that don't do a thing for you

I think there may be one song on his second album that I kinda liked... it was a Sly & The Family Stone ripoff (as opposed to his usual Hendrix ripoff) that was pretty good. But, that's waaaayyyyy below the Mendoza line. -
Just because I like the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4NYZ18aY8E

Fucking Lenny Fucking Kravitz. Has all the tools to be so great. And yet, he manages to suck so hard every damn time out. My God does he suck! -
When on my honeymoon, I stayed about a block from the Italian Parliament building. I love that city and I can picture exactly where these riots are taking place. It makes me incredibly sad.

The Moyles For those of you not in the know, a Moyle is a Jewish rabbi that is specially trained to perform ritual circumcisions.

So, this is not the version that I have become used to. I have only heard the radio version before now, which I think does a little bit better job with surprising you with the tag and all that. But I love those spots, and this will do for now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9DwA_VZDno

Highly Praised Music Artists That Don't Do a Thing for You

Patti Smith. The first line from the first song on her first album hit me like a fucking suckerpunch. And then, there was nothing for me after that.
