Yeah, so I'm playing, too. But if you could pick only one show, I would prefer you come to see me at a later one that I have scheduled for January. Still, I think that this one will be fun: It's the first one since his death earlier this year and I'm trying to learn new songs now from both Bg Star and the Box Tops. These are the songs that I'll be playing (if I can learn them all, that is): • The Ballad of El Goodo • Thank You Friends • The Letter • Downs That last one could be a lot of fun. It's a pretty fucked up tune that I think I can have a lot of fun with. The others, hope I just

Absloutely. It would have a lot more cred (if they could regain any of what they've lost over the last 30 years), if they would just break their list out by genre/style of music: 10 best Hard Rock releases 10 best R&B/Hip-Hop releases 10 best Country releases 10 best Indie Rock releases etc. That way at least it puts the demographic pandering in perspective.

Yes there are, but it would be darn near impossible not to have some very good albums on just about any "Best of 2010" list. It was a very good year. My statement was more a commentary on the nature of Rolling Stone these days, in general.

Not to state the obvious but do we really need that list? It's become like the Grammys of top albums lists.

not to pat myself on the back, but, this thread rules the school.

Awesome! I always read it that way, too.

TOOTS! Toots will always bring a smile to my face. But this is my Toots jam: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FB-DgI7wM1Y I'll post a couple more (non-Toots) tunes when the board allows me to.

Never got to see the Cubbies win one. And definitely, most definitely, should have been in the H.O.F. before he died. Rest in peace, Ronnie. Now everyone click their heels in honor of number 10. Just one time.

I don't know that I've heard enough new music to really make a comprehensive list. But, of the albums that I have heard, here are my (tentative) rankings: 1. Jenny and Johnny - I'm Having Fun Now 2. Gorillaz - Plastic Beach 3. Tom Zé - Estuando o Bossa 4. Ty Segall - Melted 5. Os Mutantes - Haih Ou Amortecedor 6. Best Coast - Crazy For You 7. Damian Marley & Nas - Distant Relatives 8. Cleaners From Venus - English Electric 9. Jarvis Humby - Assume the Position, It's Jarvis Humby 10. Ha Ha Tonka - Novel Sounds of the Nouveau South disappointing: Erykah Badu - New Amerykah Part

I love the Bonzos so much. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9y4vLrHsm4 And folks should know where that other band's name came from, if they don't already. I was totally amused and happy when I heard that there was a band called Death Cab for Cutie. And then, when they sounded nothing like the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, I was disappointed.
