Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffitti? -- The Windbreakers?
PopTodd replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
I bought it. Listening now and I think that I am going to really like this! Now, with the last remanants of my gift card, I am considering this collection: I've seen songs get quick mentions here and there by a few of you. (Billy G?) Sounds like my kinda thing. Anyone want to chime in here? Is this the one that I should be getting, or would I be better served to just dive into their albums? -
I have $15 to spend at iTunes and am considering this as one of my purchases. Anyone hear it? You like it? Okay, so I just bought it. Conversations here, if you wish... Seems like a lot of folks that I know are calling it the Album of the Year.

Okay, so this one isn't "perfect", per se. But then, there have been a lot of folks bending the rules in regards to the heading of this thread. And, this is still a pretty great song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBTFEyxMhGA

I also like Martsch's solo album, Now You Know. That acoustic stuff on there is surprisingly good. But, as far as BTS albums go, probably Keep It Like a Secret, with Perfect From Now On a close second.

If you have good tab/chords for the following, I would appreciate it: "Nighttime" (Big Star) "The Ballad of El Goodo" (Big Star) "Thank You Friends" (Big Star) "Downs" (Big Star) "The Letter" (Box Tops)

The Mellencamp show was Saturday. His band was excellent. And he put on pretty much exactly the show that you would expect him to: solid, if a bit uneven. Opened with "The Authority Song", which was pretty much the highlight of the evening. Put a nice little country twist on "Jack and Diane". Played for about 2.5 hours straight and did not come out for an encore, which was refreshing. The worst thing about the show was the 2 completely loaded couples behind me; spilling beer all over my back and grabbing me to hug me (nearly pulling me crashing to the floor in the process). They were nice en -
Felt a very real sadness when I heard the news. Now nobody will be able to make him crack a smile. (Although it would be awesome if he were buried with a permanent smile on his face. Now, THAT would be the best joke of all... finally let one break out! And it's forever.) Rest in peace, you hilarious man! You brought me a lot of smiles.

Great idea for payment, Kalle! I am downloading now and will let you know what I think, as soon as I give it a listen! EDIT: Listening to it now and I am REALLY digging it! There is a very 90's sound to it, but I mean that as a compliment. Has your singer been in other bands? Maybe around the Chicago area? No? Where? What band? The vocals sound very familiar, as does the songwriting style. But... like a band that I have known (and liked) for a long time. Really good stuff. And, again, great idea for getting the music out there.

Okay, so I laid out a (very) simple YouTube because, well, I needed to. Just a single slide, but I added Pop-Up Video style notations to add a little bit of interest. "Here" it is. (Ugh, Sorry for the pun.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YybkAVcvj_U

You know, just something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5S3O2b9NFZ4 with just a single image. Or, how to lay new audio over existing video? There is somebody requesting something, and I would like to deliver. Thanks. -

Listen to the fill at :45 And the one at 1:20 And, most of them, for that matter. The way that he plays THROUGH the "1" is a defining element of the Big Star sound that nobody (except drummers) really seem to take notice of. I am not a drummer, and until I saw them live, I never had an appreciation for just how great Jody really is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekR7fRCY1Ss&feature=related
