This thread was started innocently enough, but has turned into quite the controversy generator. (Just started on my second cup of decaf.)

As a long-time decaf drinker (having switched over out of medical necessity -- I have MS), I can tell you with certainty, that it is just as much the ritual as the caffeine. That, and the comfort of the warmth and aroma. It's like when baseball players spit 3 times and grabs their crotch in a certain way before going up for an at-bat. That you may call superstition, but it is ritual, as well. That, in and of itself, does help many of us focus, methinks. But, of course, now I am getting into the psychology of coffee drinking, in general, and I haven't even had my morning decaf! Time to make th

Just a reminder that I'm playing in Chicago on Saturday, if you can make it.

I have some songs from my first album on there. Looks like some people have liked them. Yeah, it's not a bad site. Kinda like Pandora or Jango, but the interface isn't quite so listener-friendly.

This makes me so happy! http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=130870090

Was it the first album of theirs that you heard? Sometimes that makes a difference. As to me... it's not my "favorite", per se (that is any of three, depending upon my mood). But, I do think that Sorry Ma... is a great, fun record that is far too often overlooked. I frequently find myself singing: "Everybody gotta go Ot-to Ot-to Everybody gotta go Ot-to-TO!"

You can, in some neighborhoods. If it's not at your local Jewel, it shouldn't be too hard to track down. It's about $5 a can. And, since it's espresso grind, you don't have to use as much per cup.

That Café Bustelo is actually cheaper than Folgers. Give it a shot and then tell me what you think. I think that you'll be happy.

I like tea, too. Go start a tea thread. This is the coffee thread.

Okay, let's get this out of the way, I drink decaf. Okay? When seizures are an imminent threat, you do what you have to do. Still, when you don't drink it side-by-side with regular, you can't really tell much of a difference. Now that that's over with, I gotta say that I love my coffee. It's (obviously) not the caffeine that gets me going, it's the ritual, the aroma, the heat. Recently, after hearing some friends singing its praises, I picked up a can of this: Cheap, strong and delicious. And, I take my coffee like I take my women, black and in a really big cup! (had to get the joke out o

Wendy: That is one of my favorite 5 or so records of the 1990's. So great. Today, with me:

I'm actually playing an early (7:00) show that night, in that very neighborhood. So close, and yet so far away...

Well, as long as the original intent of the thread has long gone by the wayside, I will hop in to the (very cool) new direction it has taken: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8dC9M6OCkE

The day they finally let Marvin Gaye get out from behind the drums and sing.
