  1. These are best DEBUT films (see topic title). What is Altman's first film? That Cold Day in the Park (1969) according to IMDB. Is it any good? Worthy of inclusion on this list? I've seen quite a few films, but not as many as I would like. And, how about: The Kid (Charlie Chaplin)?

  3. I love this movie. There is so much going on. Yeah, it is a bit derivative of Altman, with the overlapping stories and whatnot, but something about it hits me.
  4. The ones that I've bolded I think are pretty much inarguable, as far as being worthy of inclusion. Debate the rest.
  5. "Streets of Bakersfield" - Dwight Yoakam with Buck Owens "Where the Wild Roses Grow" - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds w/ Kylie Minogue
  6. "Groove is in the Heart" - Deee-Lite with Bootsy Collins and Q-Tip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4D1HSL7P98 And, do duets count? "Under Pressure" - Queen with David Bowie "A Fairytale of New York" - The Pogues with Kirsty MacColl
  7. I love this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSCuTEOQkho Oh, and the new Hawaii-5-0 does not count, because that is still an old theme. We all know that one, already.
  8. No clue. I haven't written a (complete) song in more than a year, so I don't think that it's a very pressing concern for me. I'm more curious as to what my friends' bands are going to do — those who are on the label, and were planning on releasing something in the near future. I, myself, may just record a couple of songs for online-only release as a follow-up single, A/B. (I just have to figure out that mechanism for myself now.) After that, it's anyone's guess.
  9. Trying to stay civil. I know the urge to give shit when you see something that bugs you. It,s. A.L.L. cüle. Now help me mourn my friend's label, if you would. (Damnit, I can't stop second guessing my punctuation.)
  10. Me too. But, I have to actually try when I write for work. Now, could we please stay on topic? I feel badly for my friend and want to give him his due.
  11. Writer, actually. But, I don't bother proofing my posts. Because... really... who cares? But, back on-topic, here is the official announcement:
  12. It's a sad thing. Spade Kitty was created by Matt Walters not to make tons of cash, but to help friends' bands get records out. And, he did just that. I owe him my entire music career (if it can be called that). Without Matt and SK, I would not even have one record out, let alone two. The man just got tired of busting his ass trying to get people to listen to records, that he believed in; and getting ignored. He also underwrote a 3-year series of shows at FitzGerald's in Berwyn, and got a lot of folks onto that sweet, sweet stage who, otherwise may not have been able to play there. Thank you,
  13. Okay, so I made my last purchase with my card: I am a sucker for great garage rock, and I was planning on picking this one up on CD or some other physical media, but... fuckit. The samples sounded so great on this one, and I love their What Is?! album. Plus, the Ty Segall sorta primed me for more stuff like this. Looking forward to this one.
  14. Man, that B&S is bringing on the nostalgia something fierce!
  15. Okay, so I just bought that Ty Segall album. Will give it a first listen today.
  16. The more I hear about this, the more I think that I want to hear it. I'm gonna check it out and let you know... thanks.
  17. I was just about to make a thread about him. I really, really like his twisted, scumbag take on the whole alt country thing; somewhere like if Conway Twitty, Roger Miller, and Hank Williams were drinking and smoking weed (maybe shooting heroin?) with some young indie band. "God Was Drunk When He Made Me" is the one that's sticking with me right now, although it's really a different song every time that I listen.
