And, of course, I can't go. I forgot that I have a Cub Scouts retreat with my boys. So... I'm giving the tix to a friend whose birthday is right around that time. And, the Cub Scout thing is always a lot of fun anyway. Still: damn.

And, this morning, I won tickets to see Steely Dan. Damn. They're gonna cut me off if I keep this up. (Although, this was a different contest -- this one was phone-in, while the Hornsby tix were online and I don't even remember registering for those!)

As well-documented elsewhere at this site: Joe Pisapia - Daydreams is my likely #1 of the decade/century/millennium. But that is too far under the radar to make any major list, I am sure; which is a crime. -
A brand-new Madness record? I found no chatter about this when I performed a search, so... I just wanna know what you all think of it. Here's the AllMusic review that sounds pretty damn good: 4.5 STARS Not bad.

Uncut: Top 150 Albums of the 21st Century
PopTodd replied to Wild Frank's topic in Someone Else's Song
I'll be interested to see the albums that DIDN'T make the cut. My top 10 is most-likely made up just about entirely of albums that probably didn't. Maybe Nick Cave did? If not, they are total morons. It's not like that album was any more under the radar than The Decemberists or something like that. -
Jim Ford - Point of No Return Bloque - Bloque Rockpile - Seconds of Pleasure My Morning Jacket - It Still Moves Paul Weller - Wild Wood

Anyway... This weekend, I had a bottle of this: And of this:

Just received a great, big package o' music today. So, this will be an evolving list, as I peruse the spoils. Right this minute: Ducks Deluxe - Ducks Deluxe/Taxi to the Terminal Zone
-
Um.... yeah.
-
Not totally clear, but it sounds like it could be a solo show, by the way this is worded. No mention of a band, at least. And "part of our singer-songwriter series" kinda hints at a solo performance, no?

Led Zeppelin - How the West Was Won Love - Forever Changes various artists - Live From Sound Opinions: Vol. 1
-
Congratulations!
-
Def Leppard - YEAH! All covers of great glam and straight-up rock from the late 60's and early 70's. It's the stuff that inspired the band to play music in the first place and, let me tell you, the guys have good taste! Pooh-pooh if you will, but this is just a great rock band playing great old songs that they love and having a grand old time with it!

Terence Trent D'Arby - Introducing the Hardline... Son Volt - The Search The Replacements - Pleased to Meet Me Cornershop - When I Was Born For the 7th Time

I like Caesar's tunes, too. Not as much as David and Louie's songs, but they're a nice, gritty counterpoint. And, I do have the first Latin Playboys disc (which, incidentally, also features Tchad Blake and Mitchell Froom). It's a fun, strange side project... like Los Lobos on a bad acid trip. (I mean that in a good way.)

This CD arrived yesterday, to replace my old worn-out vinyl: Los Lobos - La Pistola y El Corazón And, it is hard for me to express how much I love this album. For that matter, I could say the same about Kiko or How Will the Wolf Survive? Let's just talk about these guys and how they are (arguably) the most-amazing American band of the last 20 years or so. Because it's — you know — the right thing to do.
