I'm in the process of mixing a song that has some pedal steel. Love that sound. As to OTHER favorites: Anything by Hank Williams, Sr. "Teach Your Children" - CSNY (pedal steel by Jerry Garcia) and other stuff...

I've done it a few times, myself and it's actually a lot of fun. I'm sorry to hear about your mom. I have MS, myself (diagnosed in 1995) and am, thankfully doing well. Good luck with the walk. I would sponsor you, if I weren't already sponsoring others. Oh, and thank you.

Thanks! I thought about doing a Devo take on the song, but it was coming out forced. Then, this came out so well... I appreciated the feedback and the compliments. You guys rule.

How is that? I've only heard his first solo album (MacDougal Blues).

Thanks! I appreciate the listen and the feedback. This one is getting a lot better response than I expected it to. (Not just here, but elsewhere, as well.)

Met the guy at a NAMM show when I was 16. He went out of his way to be nice to me; gave me some good guitar advice and was just a generally good guy. It's cool when stuff like that happens.

Happy (belated) birthday! Hope it was great.

Thanks for listening, Matt. I appreciate the honest feedback. I really wasn't planning on recording this tune this weekend, it just kinda happened. I, myself, kinda feel the same way as you do. But I also think it's a fun little ditty. We'll see where it fits on the record.

Time for me to post a new Hop On Pop recording... "Sheila of the Worms" Thanks for listening and for the feedback. And, of course, for your patience. Also, a note: For those of you who have not yet heard any of my songs for this new album... this one sounds nothing like anything else that is going to be on there. There's a reason I'm calling the album Mixtape.

They've been around for a long, long time. Per AMG... And they're really pretty good. One of those bands -- like Dexy's Midnight Runners -- that are known for only one song, but who have a cult following a lot bigger and a history a lot richer than most would have known.

Last 20: Abrindo As Urnas - Tom Z

So... to resurrect an old thread: Still haven't picked up Back to the Cat, but I just bought As Above, So Below for $0.01. Pretty psyched about that one. AMG review:

The state of the music business thread...

Per my post above: I imagine that, once artists become established enough, they can completely bypass the whole label thing, set up their own sites, and draw enough listeners there that they can get advertisers, themselves. i.e.: U2 could stream their entire album for free, at their own site. It's be nothing for listeners to hear and the band could make money from their recordings from the advertisers on their streaming site. (Helping render the piracy/free DL argument a moot point). Unknown artists (like me) could still rely on the power of radio, touring, and hosting sites (the new vers
