  1. So I'm the only one showing the love for Nick Cave, huh?
  2. The 8-minute single, "Tender", could go on for hours and I would not mind.
  3. Okay, I have a new acquisition -- a 10-song fIREHOSE compilation that a friend put together for me that is freaking ROCKING my world! I forgot how much I love this band.
  4. I just heard a song from the new record on the radio last night ("Neon Beanbag") and it was freaking awesome. Had pretty much everything that I loved about them from the Mars Audiac Quintet era. Is the rest of the album as good? Should I bother picking it up? (Haven't grabbed anything from them since Dots and Loops disappointed me.) I anticipate and appreciate your responses.
  5. Wire - 154 Dwight Yoakam - The Very Best Of The Brokedowns - New Brains For Everyone Happy Ashtray - Everyone Sees You
  6. Oopsie. I was thinking Ed. But yeah, GEORGE Hurley. Good catch.
  7. A tricky one: EdFromOhio in fIREHOSE He was pretty good, sure. But next to Watt and Ed Hurley....

  9. He holds the mirror!!! (also a great dancer, if you've ever seen them live.)
  10. My sister and I gave my parents $50 gift certificates for Charlie Trotter's for every occasion for about a year and a half. At that point they had enough accumulated to actually go and have dinner there on us. They had never had a dining experience like that before, so I thought that it would be fun for them. They loved it.
  11. Ray Davies - Live Off-Broadway (Jane St. Theater, Aug., 2000) (Featuring several songs backed by Yo La Tengo.)
  12. I ain't sayin' that these other players aren't amazing. I'm just sayin' that Tina is my favorite; for the reasons stated at the beginning of the thread. Also... I'm surprised that it took so long to mention this man:
  13. No. and No. Jeff may have always been the driving force behind Wilco, but I would argue that Jay was instrumental in the turns that they took on both Being There and Summerteeth. Don't know Jeff, but I would imagine that he would probably admit as much, as well. And Ringo is freaking RINGO!!!! The Beatles would not have been The Beatles without him. He may not have the chops of Neal Peart, but I would argue that he was one of the most imaginative drummers in rock history. Period. Brilliant.
  14. Donna who screeched all over those mid-period Grateful Dead songs. Oh, and... FAIL!!! Garth was essential to their sound.
  15. I voted CD: in-store. But, honestly, I PREFER vinyl; I just don't have the equipment to play it anymore. Someday soon, however, I will. Still, ya gotta be able to flip through the stacks. It's a visceral thing.
