I hope that you do, though:
Just me with an electric guitar, playing live, with a 2-mic setup.
EDIT: Sorry for all the topics in recent succession; just got nothing to do right now and when shit occurrs to me, I tend to post.
-
EDIT: 15 total songs so far, and no repeats yet...
I was thinking the same thing. Says a lot.

Just the originals, we can do a whole nother thread for their covers.
1. Pablo and Andrea
2. Upside Down
3. The Hour Grows Late
4. Black Flowers
5. Bartleby, Hardly Working
(I'm waiting to see how many "Blue Line Swinger"s we get.)

I played Public Enemy for my 8-year-old last night...
"Don't Believe the Hype"
He understood much more than an 8-year-old should. About the anger and all that.

Thin Lizzy - The Definitive Collection
Yo La Tengo - I Am Not Afraid Of You and I Will Beat Your Ass
Willie Nelson - 16 Biggest Hits

I just may be using this in producing my next record.
So cool.
Although I do want the actual physical deck, I do.

The single-most beautiful vocal in the history of pop/rock music is Art Garfunkel's lead turn on "Bridge Over Troubled Waters".

The Hudsucker Proxy is in my top 3 Coen films.
It IS my favorite Coen Bros. film. Paul Newman as an evil mofo is absoloutely wonderful -- you can tell that he relishes finally being able to play the bad guy.

The sounds not great on this, and he does stretch things out a bit too long, but there is some nice guitar fills at least. You gotta love Prince for his interesting choice of covers.
I got a recording of him doing an acoustic version of "Whole Lotta Love". Yeah, the Led Zep tune.
Dude rules.

Thin Lizzy is one of the 5 greatest bands in the history of rock and roll. Up there with the Beatles and the Stones.

i'd agree with this
And a buddy of mine swears up and down that "Against All Odds" would make a great punk song. I say, "meh."

So... ANYONE familiar with/a fan of this record?
Ever even hear of it?
It's Jimmy Webb's kids, and they do their daddy proud.
Wow.

$3.75 on average in the Chicago 'burbs. More in the city.

Rush is "The Band With No Soul".
I believe that each and every member of that band sold their soul to be able to play as well as they do. And that would explain why the music is so soulless.

Smokey Robinson & The Miracles - Ultimate Collection
Spoon - Girls Can Tell
Sly & The Family Stone - There's A Riot Goin' On
Brian Eno - Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy)

Is he the sound guy at a bar with open mic night?
Maybe.
He owned a bar down there and also a bi-weekly local music rag, in addition to being in a couple of bands, himself.

Rattail Grenadier and Squirtgun is all I got.
What about 'em?
Good?
Bad?
Sound like?

I work with a guy who seems to have been a pretty big part of it, and I'm curious to know more about it and see if anyone else here knows much about it.
Strange way to start a topic, I know, but...
-
"Longview" - Green Day
Yeah, I like em.

The lyrics to "Liar's Club" totally and completely evoke (for me) the time, immediately following college graduation, when my friends and I would hit the bars, looking for fun, women, and just good times. We thought it was everything that life was supposed to be and was going to be. And then, reality hit as hard as this song.
If that was the only song on the album, it would be enough. But the damn thing keeps going on just as strong. For 45 minutes or so.
So, so great.
Have they done anything else recently?

I don't like Seinfeld.
Frustrates me to the point of having to turn the channel -- immediately!
And Curb Your Enthusiasm is even worse.
