There are a few songs that I heard first as Bangles' covers. I mentioned a couple others earlier, but there is also: "Sweet and Tender Romance" by The McKinleys I heard done first by The Bangles. "Open My Eyes" by The Nazz I heard done first by The Bangles.

Listen to this and then listen to the Jayhawks' song "Waiting For the Sun." Then, remember that the Jayhawks' tune came out about 5 years earlier. That is the reason that I cannot stand this Petty song.

I heard the Red Hot Chili Peppers' version of "If You Want Me to Stay" before the Sly & the Family Stone original.

Heard the Ram Jam version of "Black Betty" before I heard the original by Leadbelly (which I am listening to for the first time, as I type this).

While I like the original Stump The Host version better, this later take is the only one that I can find to post here. Still a great tune, though.
