  1. Fellow "hardcore fan" and overanalyzer johhny guitar is the best song on the record IMHO (except for that damn fade out) classic vedder vocals and a punkish riff And I love just breathe. the first five songs are good, then the record just goes way downhill IMHO My biggest disappointment is that McCready is nowhere to be found on this record. And I really wish ed would stop writing songs about water and waves. I was really hoping they would have LESS keyboards on the record-but there is more synth and piano on this record than any other-I just dont like it at all. Unthought known sounds lik
  2. yowza!! but in a way you are right-violins????? that being said, Ed's voice sounds fantastic on this song
  3. A few listens in and Im really digging johnny guitar and just breathe (even though the guitar sounds exactly like Tuolumne from ITW on that one). Gonna see my friend has potential (reminds me of Kiss actually) and got some is pretty good, but so far, I agree, the rest is very average. And I am not digging the production-synth and fade outs, yuck. And where is McCready on this record???? There is a noticeable lack of solos But thats what Ive come to expect given the last two records-three or four songs I like, and a bunch I dont. And comatose was probably the best song on the last record.
  4. thanks for the heads up-got it this morning I need to digest it more before I form an opinion
  5. 1996 was a great year for PJ-no code tour and I know that boot well but I would not be unhappy if I never heard corduroy live ever again they play that one WAY to often
  6. poster pre-sale is on for anyone who cares
  7. they dont chart higher because people dont pay for music anymore-thats also why they charge $85 a ticket-because they dont make anywhere near as much from record sales-but that being said, they have embraced more of the commercial side of the music business in recent years-but again, thats because people dont have to buy their records anymore. PJ loves those medium sized ampitheaters as opposed to stadiums or large indoor arenas-and 10c Toronto tickets were available for more than 24 hours they will do a much bigger tour in 2010
  8. some good shows 9/11/98 8/24/00 3/3/03, 4/30/03, 7/14/03 5/12/06 6/27/08 of course these are mostly east coast shows which I attended, except for the tokyo show, so I am a bit biased but these are all really good shows
  9. http://www.craveonline.com/entertainment/music/article/pearl-jam-debut-backspacer-mini-documentary-83167 a cool little documentary on the new record perhaps another single video theory is in the works
  10. I was thinking that the beat was very mid 80s, it actually made me think of the go gos
  11. really wish I could make that 10/31 show Damn rugrats! That show should be spectacular-possibly one for the ages I think all or none off RA is one of the most beautiful songs they have ever recorded. Cant keep, cropduster and save you are great songs, I also really like help help, reminds of vintage floyd, but I know I am in the minority there. Also, the b-sides from riot act are really good (other side, down and undone). The last record just leaves me hanging, plus no b-sides at all. A few songs I dig, but less than RA. Comeback, gone and inside job put me to sleep and life wasted is meh.
  12. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/16/magazine/16beatles-t.html interesting article on the making of the beatles rock band
  13. I actually like riot act better than the last album, but both only have about four songs I really dig. I have always loved Binaural, took me awhile to like sleight of hand and nothing as it seems, but I have grown to love them. But hey thats why opinions are like....well you know Yeah I dont really like the fixer, or speed of sound, but I will withhold judgment until I hear the whole record and the songs played live
  14. I cant pick a favorite or a peak. I love all the records from ten to binaural I would also say that binaural is totally underrated, it too is a great record form start to finish, with the exception of evacuation. Yield was a tough act to follow! Riot act is where they seem to have lost their touch, and the last record was not great either-although both records had a couple of great songs. Which record to I play the most? Well according to my Ipod its no code.

  16. I saw him open for Jerry once and, well, it was horrible. I have great respect for the man, but Jerry never sounded so good.
  17. outside meaning outdoors? or outside reality? I dunno, I am east coaster and saw lots of outdoor shows, beginning with SPAC in 85 I enjoyed 1988, hampton, centrum, in the spring and one of my favorite trips of my life spac, rochester, oxford maine they still sounded good in 88'!!!

  19. 1. First Concert, when? Rolling stones 1981 hartford, CT 2. First Concert you really wanted to go to and did? Grateful dead 4/17 and 18 1982 3. Favorite Band? Pearl Jam 4. How Many Times have you seen them? 40+ 5. Worst concert you attended? A phil lesh show at jones beach awful, just awful 6. Favorite? impossible to choose 7. Band you have seen the most? grateful dead 8. How many times? around 65, 75 including jerry shows 9. Furthest you drove for a concert? How far? hartford ct to hampton va (DEAD) 10. Furthest locale from home you have seen a concert? Chicago 11. How man
  20. A lot easier, plus they did longer tours which reduced the demand in each city. Wilco and PJ are pretty much the only two bands I see regularly. The two most important live acts in America right now (some might through MMJ in there as well). IMHO
  21. I only hope its the 29th, if not, I will have one unhappy child and one angry wife on my hands
  22. Well sorry you had a bad experience. Trying to get an old number back? I was able to get 10c tix for both philly shows, so I am psyched. My only complaint is that it used to be a LOT easier to get tix, for some reason it seems like the whole world rediscovered pearl jam in 2006. And there are a lot more scalpers in the 10C as well. I hope you find a way to make your show of choice, but if not, dont despair. They will be back and, after all, it is just a rock concert. If its not fun, time to move on to less stressful pleasures. Good luck.
  23. ya mon These should be great shows Im in for both nights!
  24. $167 for Philly but as long as people trade and copy their music, I will not begrudge the band for raising ticket prices or taking advantage of commercial opportunities-compared to what other arena acts charge, the prices are not that bad-this isnt 1994. seniority has been handled pretty well, your seats are still dictated by your 10C number (except rows 1-2 and 9-10 which are random. are you saying senior members should get first crack at tickets? every member has an equal chance at tix and thats pretty fair the 10c tix were $11.50 less per pair that comcast tickets, so there is a discoun
  25. Im not loving the fixer its alright, got some is a MUCH better song IMHO, but Im anxious to hear the rest of the record. anybody else hitting the philly shows?
