  2. Just pulled out Songs for Drella by Lou Reed and John cale, after remembering I hadn't heard it for awhile. It was like putting on your winter hat after a brilliant summer and a fall that took its time.
  3. One that comes immediately to mind for me is "Anxious Mo Fo" from Double Nickels on the Dime

  7. re-ac-tor "got mashed potatoes ain't got no t-bone" I remember buying that record as a follow up to Decade, which I bought when I was 14. Thank God I didn't judge Neil on that 10981 record alone.... FYI PSU/ USC Rose Bowl just used "Rockin in the Free World" as a commercial outro while I was typing this post!!
  8. oops- forgot roky erickson and the 13th floor elevators stephen kellogg and the sixers
  9. geez, I guess I'll say it: Heaven 17 Sham69, also.
  10. kindasorta know what you're saying about new material. on the other hand, last night was the first show for my 14 year old son ( he missed wilmington- was in california) so i was hoping for the setlist they delivered. my son really really dug the show. l ike most first timers he was not expecting the ferocious power the band seems able to display at will. recordings do not do justice great energy and band interaction wonderful acoustics kind (if not a bit mellow) crowd funfunfun
  11. Lots available at the Baltimore CraigsList- Also: get to show early- should have no trouble getting tix at face value. Also- small venue- really no bad seats in the house. Good luck!!!
  12. Quote from the Rochester newspaper review: "Instead, as an encore, Wilco played tribute to its current employer with a version of Young's "Roll Another Number" Is this true or just some lousy reporter's confusion w/ Passenger Side???
  13. The only convert I have is my 14 year old son.....oh well. It's actually a blessing- allowing for intimate venues , failry (cough cough) easy access to tickets. I'd really hate for the "Touch of Grey" syndrome to hit these guys......selfish, I know, I know....
  14. Sorry I can't make the show tonight, I lost my job in PA yesterday and have to start making some sacrifices. if anyone finds my job, please return to my attention asap. seriously, checked out your link and it looks like you're laying down some cool, passionate stuff. hope tonights gig goes down fine.
  15. the ax came yesterday. today: rainy and peaceful. Not shitty. tomorrow: we'll see I stopped over to see the kids tonight. After responding to my question about how school went, my 14 year old son inquired, "How was work today??" I just paused and gave him a blank stare. Then we both cracked up.
  16. here's a few, though waaaay to many to mention... Your cracked country lips, I still wish to kiss, As to be under the strength of your skin. Your magnetic movements Still capture the minutes I'm in Tough Mama Meat shakin' on your bones No man alive will come to you With another tale to tell, But you know that we shall meet again If your mem'ry serves you well I like to do just like the rest, I like my sugar sweet, But guarding fumes and making haste, It ain't my cup of meat. Most of the time I'm clear focused all around, Most of the time I can keep both feet on the ground, I can fo

  19. Amen, brother. I was fortunate en ough to see that lineup six times, and they just grew in might: Phil in the middle of two phenomenol guitarists just duking it out every night. Whew!!
  20. Awesome post topic - wow. what a fantastic record. i remember being at the little league carnival, and wandering over to the record store across the street to buy it as a 12 year old. My purchase was loosely based on my older brother and radio airplay for "surrender". I stayed up most of that Friday night listening to that record, looking at the album jacket shots of Robin (so freaking cool), Rick (weird but magnetic), Bun e (science rock!), and Tom P (mr. suave). Later got into Dream police and their record before Budokan, but this live record was truly transcendant to me as a teenager. g
  21. kate beckinsale looks kind of manly in that av.
  22. Congrats to the Rays : bringing in a 20 year old w/ limited MLB experience with the bases loaded in the 8th inning of Game 7 is a gutsy move, and one I'm not sure you'd make on the road... Price was an absolute stud... Now's let's go Phightin Phillies!!!! I predict: Philly in 6, and a long awaited championship for the City of Brotherly Love. Other predictions????
