  1. ummm, i remember Tesla ruining that cool song "signs" and personally, the Byrds version of "My Back pages" Now that I think of it, most of their Dylan stuff was mediocre, and I'm a Byrds fan... there are other offenders, i'm just spacing right now.... oh yeah Shatner's Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. and I love Shatner, too.
  2. oops maybe i was thinking of Oh Carol by Chuck Berry... I can't believe I messed up a song by the beast boys...

  5. Hi Gang! I just wasted yet another hour of my life in a meeting...though it wawsn't a total loss as I thought of this thread when somebody mentioned that horrible "Jenny Jenny" song! My initial entry: The MC5 Led Zeppelin IV Roll Another Number for the Road - Neil Young
  6. wow, many memories... first- probably about 9 years old...- bringing home David Bowie's Heroes, Sg.t Pepper, Beach Boys Endless Summer, and some Cosby comedy records home from the local library, sitting in front of my parents "hi-fi" and ......whoa................... later, getting London Calling at 13 years old cause I thought the cover was cool (didn't know it was an Elvis Presley send-up) and Born to Run....those albums changed my life. Too many others to mention, but off I went.... Great thread- Bringing back the memories makes me feel Real Good. Thank You!

    Momofuku

how 'bout it. Imperial bedroom is cut for cut the best EC out there. Absolutely phenomenol! And you're right Elvis gets no credit for his vocal stylings. I've seen him with the attractions, imposters, solo acoustic, a capella, and w/ orchestra background, and he's more than capable in any setting. He can turn a nimble, if sometimes reaching, lyric, too. And the mans got a great sense of humor, too. Uh-oh, I just might be going gay for Elvis......hope my girlfriend doesn't see this....

Brutal Youth took awhile to kick in but when it did, it was GOOOOOD. Still is. Listening to Momofuko now....yessir. Anyone hear about any tour dates in the US (not with the Police)?????
  9. Go out and get The Basement Tapes. Do it now. Report back Monday after repeated listenings. Godspeed.
  10. Excellent show at Mann last night.... lots of good stuff too muh to mention...very cool Wolvers Lower Modest Mouse was locked in as well oh yeah, Eddie Vedder came out and traded vocals on Begin The Begin....
  11. Going to the Mann in Philly tonight w/ my son- haven't seen REM since Radiohead opened for them in ????99??? My seats are L/C balcony row E...anyone with any knowledge of whether they're decent or not?? The seating charts don't tell me much... Thanks!

  13. Good stuff, I'll start working up my list. This used to be a good 3 AM weekend verbal sparring exercise w/ friends... btw does anyone remember the official title of the Osmonds third album (not the live one, or the canadian only release)?
  14. OK OK so I've been living under a rock.... UNCLE!!!!
  15. It's awesome- i'm always curious about other oartists nterpretations of dylan tunes. although many are pretty much straight performances, the different artists representing the music is pretty wide ranging- I find/ hear new stuff every time I play it. Get it. Play it. Repeat! Oh yeah- I saw aDylan benefit in NYC in 2006- the Roots did a most incredible version of Masters of War - stole the show....not on soundtrack...
  16. OK, being fairly new to the site (but not the band) I apologize in advance if this is a retread thread, but the Last Waltz got me thinking..... best:The Last Waltz - beautifully shot and edited, most likely my #1 for best.... I'm also a big fan of Rock 'n' Roll High School, too.... worst... hmmm "Tommy" was bad, but actually has some pretty cool scenes (Tina Turner as the Acid Queen comes to mind...), and of course Sgt. Peppers was truly horrendous on every level, even if Aerosmith's "Come Together" is a guilty pleasure....
  17. Just saw it- Van the Man in a rare US appearance: 7/10 and 7/11 at the lovely Tower Theater in beautiful Upper Darby, PA. Only time I saw him was the NoGuru tour at Meriweather about, ohhh, 20 years ago. SCHWEET.
  18. I can't put this one down.
