  1. No doubt- i remember asking Santa for the 2Lp best of when I was about 12, listening fervently, wondering about the two whacked out dudes inside the album jacket, and why there was a list of so many other musicians in the credits. It sounded clean and awesome, even on my AmFM/Phono/8 Track player. "Do it Again" was my first clue from the FM movie soundtrack- that led me to the greatest hits, which then led me to the studio stuff. Reeling in the Years is probably one of the only records you'll hear on the radio with five guitar solos and a vitriolic lyric that would make Uncle Bob proud.
  2. Possibly it was stolen w/ Watt's gear in Cananda.
  3. Not getting a chance til they come to Baltimore in September at Rams Head Live. Great venue...great band, and out w/ the Meat Puppets, too!!!
  4. Thats what happens when you don't take a St. Bernard with a little flask around his neck with you.
  5. I gotta go 1. malkmus 2. silver jews 3. black keys
  6. smalllllllllllllll bar set up...didn't look to fast moving either at the zappa thing. I was w/ my 14 yr old son, so didn't get a chance to check out the prices... good news: they were letting people take cocktails to their seats!!
  7. all set for wilmington... now convinced i must make the 6.5 hour drive to cary.... probably not the time or place to look fer a ticket......
  8. I'm thinking these guys are really starting to get it together live.
  9. Was at the GOH with my son last night to see Zappa Plays Zappa. Phenomenol. First time at the venue and I must say it is immaculate: intimate (hell it's TINY), great acoustics, beautiful architecture and design: all that good stuff. We parked about 2 blocks from the venue and wandered around looking for a place to munch. NO LUCK- everything (what little there was) was closed. I would suggest driving to one of the hangouts mentioned and then parking closer to the show..plenty of parking available either streetside or garage. Wilmington is a big banking city. I think after business hour
  10. What, no mention of "Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime" ????
  11. I'm taking my 5 year old daughter to this Friday night. My 14 year old son won't go, but he is attending Zappa plays Zappa with me this Wednesday night in DE. Dinner at Sabatinos and a night with the orchestra with my girl. Weird Frank stuff with my boy. Life IS good!
  12. damn...missed it let me know if anyone drops out!
  13. I'm going with that big first baseman from Minnesota. I really like Hamilton, but I'm going with my gut. Just a hunch.
  14. Didn't Berman once do a SportsCenter broadcast where he dropped a bunch of Dylan titles into the update because it was the Bob's birthday. I remember reading/ seeing something about this, but could not confirm on a quick trip 'round the net. Plus he's a big proponent of stocking up on Tylenol when he has to broadcast Toronto Blue Jays home games..... i imagine, glandular deficiencies aside, Mr. Berman might be a fun guy to hang with.....
  15. wow- there must have been a home run derby with the entire Mets team early last September!
  16. damn right. I remember one summer alone my friend Mike S. broke Hank Aarons all time home run record. He hit everything- there was nowhere to pitch him- over the garage, in the right field bleachers, or over the short left field porch, that kid assaulted whiffle balls like they were telling fat jokes about his mom.
  17. If I recall the comments are on an interview track on the CD
  18. There was a CD included with Phils book a couple of years ago. It had the usual novelties ( demos, etc) but also included the Box of Rain from the last show. You can sort of hear Phils angst and frustration (Phrustration?) in the vocal delivery and he makes some comments to that effect in talking about his mindset during the performance.
  19. "I Fought The Law" The Clash, not the GD "Devil w/ a Blue Dress On /Detroit Medly" Bruce Springsteen
  20. thats it- I'm starting a best cover thread
  21. My five year old daughter likes to sing along to "Highly Suspicious". She cracks up over the peanut butter pudding surprise part, and I think even she understands the song is a bit of a lark. She's also recently been digging "Dragonfly Pie" by S. Malkmus and the Jicks. Must be a pudding and pie sort of thing going on. On another note, my friend recently said he saw his 18 year old son giggling, screaming, and laughing hysterically to "Inna Gadda Da Vida" while dancing naked around the pool at his 50th surprise birthday party. Ahhh, kids......
