There's tons of bike parking at Mass Moca, too. Although you risk getting ticketed for BUI, you most likely won't kill anyone if you run them down!

Sorry, Tim. I got an email from Deb yesterday with the announcement and responded with a request. I never put it together that you were who you are until I saw this post and looked at your site. I was so envious of you last year because I missed most of the festival waiting in line 2.5 hours for each of the headlining shows, just to get close enough to shoot with the gear I was allowed to bring in (didn't have a pass). When they announce the lineup, there will probably be more passes to be had from the other bands' promoters, no? Josh

That's awesome - I love when the rows start really close. We had the first row in DC (had to get there at 4:00 and freeze our asses off), and it was literally 1.5ft from the stage. When he played Acuff Rose off the PA, we were all standing and he was just inches from our faces. I literally could have tied his shoelaces together.

I recorded the show from about 3 rows in front of the soundboard (24bit/48kHz source). I'm well-versed in all kinds of tech (those bits of extraneous HTML code in my previous replies notwithstanding - that was my iPad's fault), but I know nothing about mastering audio. If anyone wants to take a crack at it, they are welcome to it - just shoot me a PM. If you want a sample to determine if it's worth it given the other sources available, let me know. I went with the two-pronged attack - I went for Saturday while my wife tried Friday for me. I wound up getting Section A center, second row, for both nights! This (almost) makes up for getting shut out of the Bowery, since the Bowery is about 2,000 miles closer to home than Boulder.

All of these are excellent points and I'm sure would be the best way ro handle it in any rational venue. But the Tarrytown staff wasn't going to listen to anyone. Yes, I did have to go stealth. It sounds surprisingly good for a recording made from a Zoom H1 stuck to an arm rest with masking tape loops (except for the fact that everyone leaving my aisle managed to knock it off. Coincidently enough, I'm listening to it right now on the train to Charlottesville. I didn't want to risk going stealth in DC because I was front row center. I hope somebody got it, though. That's a show I absolutely have to hear again.

I called the Tarrytown Venue and asked about taping. The woman who answered the phone was obviously aware of Tweedy's policies and said I could absolutely record, just no video or still photography, I got there and started setting up my rig and a nice, middle-aged usher said it's cool that (Tweedy) lets us tape and asked if I would be putting it up on btetree. I'm with Lance on this one. The D chord only shows up twice when Jeff plays it: on the words "clothes" and "stared" (up at the stars). Depending on your vocal range, you might find it easier playing the same chords with the capo on the 6th fret (believe it or not).

Ha ha, I'm glad you like it. I've been so busy that I still haven't gone through all my Solid Sound shots. if i wasnt getting up in 2 hours to fly to Phoenix, I'd post another shot from a moment I'm sure you'll remember. I'll have to process it when I get back.

The first thing I went to do when I woke up this morning was go to set calendar alerts for the pre-sales - but now all mention of the shows are gone from wilcoworld.net (save for a scrolling news item that takes you nowhere). Did anyone make a note of the days/times for the pre-sales? I'm pretty sure the Bowery show was 10/27 (and I'm guessing 10:00 am). Thanks.
