  1. The Bunkhouse record is now streaming on the Lost Highway site. Sounds pretty nice. Brings back lots of memories to the early days of the Jayhawks, The Black Crowes, Wilco and Grant Lee Buffalo. They were the ones that did it for me back then. All still putting out great music. http://www.losthighwayrecords.com/artist/detail.aspx?nid=2700&aid=187
  2. http://pitchfork.com/news/38791-arcade-fire-presents-the-suburbs/ Looks like things are starting to happen. Could this be the new album title?
  3. It is a real shame. At least some of those are still putting out new music though. Roger is just performing a thirty year old album. The only old boy out there with his integrity fully intact, in my opinion, is Tom Waits. Still at the top of his game and putting out material as good as anything in his career. His shows are expensive but they are fresh and are not just an excuse to peddle old material. Hell, his recent live record had no songs on it pre-1985. p.s: The Wall is still a great album and I'm sure it will be a good show. I'd just rather feed the family for a month or pay for a hol
  4. That is an obcene amount of money for a gig. I'm sure it is expensive to put this type of show on but that is excessive. "Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash"
  5. But do you think they would be better if they were a bit tighter and more consise?
  6. As I said above, 'Damaged' is my all-time favourite but 'Is A Woman' is a staggering piece of work also. The opening three tracks: 'Daily Growl', 'Cobweb Summer' and 'Blue Wave' are untouchable and an amazing way to start a record.
  7. Thats exactly how I felt. Shocked. Such a great album. I love the DVD too. A really nice feel to the whole proceedings. I hope this imminent package is very much in the same vibe. Southern Harmony is still their greatest achivement in my book.
  8. You can hear a track off the new record when you pre-order the new album off the 'Full Time Hobby' website. Its an amazing tune, very heavy and chaotic. Hopefully this is an indication of what the album will sound like as I do feel we need something a bit different from Micah this time around.
  9. Thought I'd revive this post as I been listening to a lot of Lambchop recently. Also, if you check out their website there is a link to a lovely new Kurt Wagner tune, taken from the 'Mavis' complitation album. It has a grat little video which is on youtube. The songs called 'Gangs of Rome'. The new website is hopefully an indiction of some new material in the pipeline. Their last album (OHio) was good but, in my opinion, not a patch on 'Nixon' or 'Damaged'. 'Damaged' is pretty much my favourite record of all time. I love the deluxe edition with the classical interpretations of some of the tr
  10. This is a great record. It is, along with the Gil Scott-Heron release, the best thing I've heard all year. 'Bloodbuzz', 'Conversation' and 'England' are top draw. I like the fact that they didn't feel the need to radically overhaul their sound for the sake of it. Its just a gentle refinment of the 'Boxer' sound. Also, some of the lyrics are staggering.
  11. Exactly. Everyone's a winner. Although bands like My Morning Jacket put out, generally, sprawling 70 minute records and then put out an EP aswell!!. Quality control people!! Taking My Morning Jacket as a good example I could improve both 'At Dawn' and 'It Still Moves' significantly by reducing them down to about 45 minutes. It no surprise that their best record is 'Z', which is relativly short and consise.
  12. Have to agree with this. The advent of Cd's was a nightmare in some ways as it gave artists 80 minutes to play with as opposed to the 45 minutes of vinyl. RFTF, as with most albums released in the digital age, could lose a couple of tracks a be much better for it.
  13. 'Yes' were a great band back in the day!!
  14. Well as a longsuffering Spurs fan (since 1981)I think taking my own chopper up the arsenal is proably not a good idea. Would be quite impressive though.
  15. Its the parking for BatCopter's that put me off going down that route! Its quite a built up area and plenty of listed buildings etc. I supposed I could park it at the Emirate's Stadium and walk from there!
  16. Thanks for the heads up. Just ordered mine. A six hour round trip in the Bat-Mobile but well worth it.
  17. Great news. Union Chapel is a great venue. I saw Bjork there a few years back and the atmosphere was staggering. This should be a great show. Can't wait.
  18. Yeah I always thought that. A great artist. I love the artwork for his new album. All his record covers have been very beautiful and classy (Erotic also): http://www.fulltimehobby.co.uk/cms/ I have tickets for the Manchester show so I'm really looking forward to that. If anyone is interested I'd recommend the following tracks to check out. They're all top notch: 1) Digging A Grave; 2) When We Embraced; 3) We Won't Have To Be Lonesome; 4) Throw The Stone; 5) Jackeyed; 6) Letter To huntsville; 7) Beneath The Rose; 8) Caught In Between; 9) The Day Texas Sank To The Bottom Of The
  19. Not sure if anyones interested but Micah P Hinson has a new record out next month. Beautifully titled 'Micah P Hinson and the Pioneer Saboteurs'it is out in the UK on the 'Full Time Hobby' label and you can pre-order with and get a pack of Micah P Hinson playing cards!! His last record has grown on me as I wasn't overly impressed on first listen. However, his first three studio albums were all top draw. He also has some dates coming up in the UK in June. He might, judging by the response my initial post got, be one of those artists thats better known in the UK than his homeland (Abelene, Tex
  20. Just needed to come on this thread and say...Come on Spurs!!!. FA Cup semi final this weekend at Wembley against Portsmouth. Looking like a nice end to the season for us if we can win this one and stay in contention for forth spot.
  21. Yeah, I was pretty close (100 metres). I was 17 at the time and its all a bit vague in my mind now. My dad took me and we went down from the UK in a coach full of Floyd fans. There was a funny smell in the coach all the way down with lots of old hippies reliving their youth. I destinctly remember Van Morrison belting out 'Comfortably Numb' and also Cyndi Lauper destroying 'Brick In The Wall II'. About a month before Berlin I saw Pink Floyd headline at Knebworth (McCartney was second on the bill!!). The played a lovely version of 'Shine On' in the rain with Candy Dulfer on Sax. I also remembe
  22. I was at that show in berlin in '90. It was quite something. About 500,000 people from all over the world. A very strange experience. I understand where you're coming from. I'm sure it will be an impressive production. I guess I'm a bit of a hypocrite though because if Genesis announced they were going to tour 'The Lamb' with Peter Gabriel I would be shaking with excitement!!
  23. It's all coming back to me now....I remember a really, really horrible version of 'Like a Rolling Stone' by John Mellencamp (sp?). Also, when Dylan appeared at the end he looked really knackered and uninterested whilst everyone sucked up to him. I think Lou Reed did 'Foot of Pride' which was a nice choice.
  24. I have this record and it's amazing. Very funky. There is a George Benson track at the end that will blow your mind. The Roy Ayers stuff is pretty cool. I don't know too much about the guys that put the whole thing together but as an album it works really well. My wife also loves the track 'Runaway' which has a nice funky disco vibe. Can't rememeber the vocalist on that one though.
  25. I always used to argue with my brother about this. I followed the Water's solo path whereas he remained with the Floyd post-waters line-up. 'Amused to Death' is significantly better than both 'Momentary Lapse' and 'Division Bell'. It just shows the strength of the 'Floyd' moniker. Imagine if 'Amused to Death' had been released as a 'Pink Floyd' record and 'Momentary Lapse' was a Gilmour solo record (which it was in everything but name). The respective sales would have been very different and 'Amused' would be viewed as a classic. Still not really interesting in Roger dragging 'The Wall' ou
