  1. Very cool! Looks like a great venue! Wish I could have been there too!
  2. That's what she said.... Couldn't resist!
  3. That's cool. Playing live is where it's at. The album is so that we have a nice product that gets our songs out there. I am looking forward to all that process has to offer but much prefer out and about. Will let the boards know when we knock some things out. All the best!
  4. Cool! In the process of making an album - pre-production now. How'd it go?
  5. I like the green bamboo with the guitar on it - so comfy to wear. A long sleeve version would be awesome....
  6. I totally agree about its better to do 1 hour a day than a marathon. That's what I'm working towards.
  7. Yeah - I am getting my music room together and made the decision to hang my instruments in the hopes of playing them more often. I just picked up my mando - sitting on my lap right now - and going over some basic stuff cause it's been so long since I picked it up. So a good idea!
  8. I've had this conversation with a lot of my musician friends lately all playing different instruments. I usually run some scales, learn/write songs, and the like. Mostly I'm pretty lazy about it. Our bass player spends and hour a night. Religiously. He told me the other day and I was shocked. I certainly don't put an hour in a day. And, I have the time too. Anyways - my resolution to myself is to break through the next level and work more. Anyone have any routines? I play guitar and uke and split my rehearsal time between the two. Interested to see everyone's take on practice. Happy Sa
  9. I need one too and hope that when the taxes come back there's some money carved out for me. I doubt that it will but I'm looking at the Blueridge BR 40 CE. That's in your price range.
  10. Grace rocks! Big White Gate is a very well crafted and recorded song. They recently added Catherine Popper on bass and another guitarist. Why they needed the other guitarist I don't know. Scott does a spectacular job! Haven't caught anything recent but "This Is Somewhere" is a great album as is "Nothing But The Water" I've also been digging Brandie Carlile lately - her new album "Give Up The Ghost" is okay but doesn't hit me like her earlier stuff! Just got some Calexico albums and plan on listening tonight. Heard them via "Senor" with Willie and "Going To Acapulco" with Jim James.
  11. Have any of you set up or checked out Reverbnation.com? I found it through our facebook and found it to be pretty cool! Thoughts anyone? If anyone is on there I'd love to link up.
  12. Seemed very vague....but I'm hopeful! Would hope to get tickets to that!
  13. Did you read a "Walk in the Woods"? Classic read and Bryson at his best I think. I laughed out loud throughout the book! Fully recommend it.
  14. I only use a cell phone to wake up. I too have to keep changing the alarm sound - today it was the theme from Good Times (I try to wake up to old tv show themes). I am not a morning person at all. I could sleep easily till 11am everyday if allowed. I am 31 and have talked to many of my friends and bandmates who are in their late 40s/early 50s and I ask them if getting up early comes easier. The answer was surprising to what I thought: they all said no. Well, the guys that are not morning people said no. So that leads me to believe that either you are a morning person or you are not? Thought
  15. I think it was a good cover. Had I been in that crowd and they broke this out I'd be pretty happy. The singing and the banjo playing are good. I haven't checked there own stuff out but I'm sure its great. The arrangement was interesting albeit a bit rushed I felt. But overall a pretty nice slice of youtube!
  16. I'm open. I am new to working with computer with sound so it will be a learning experience for sure. I'm glad that there will be someone there who knows what they are doing. We have our sound down live but want to just add something special in the studio and polish it up a bit. Definitely play with the sounds and get a little space in there - pshycamericana you might say. Just finished checking out the VC station and I'm blown away. Really great stuff on there. The bar is set very high. Getting ready to listen again!
  17. Currently reading "Under the Dome" by Steven King. Very lengthy and a bit slow moving. But on cold winter nights - it's all right. I'm also planning on re-reading The Lord of the Rings trilogy this winter. I am very interested in "I Drink For A Reason" - please let us know how it is.
  18. Thanks! It's a demo. We will be spending the month of Jan. recording an album. First one for me - so I'm excited. Anyone have any tips? We will be doing it live with overdubs and refinement on a pc using protools I would imagine. Our mandolin player's son went to school for recording and he's gonna be engineering it and helping us shape it. I planned on listening to the station today at work but that didn't happen. Can't wait to tomorrow to check out everyone's songs! Again such a great idea and thanks so much for doing it! You rock! Edit: make that a mac instead of pc.
  19. Cool idea - just stumbled upon it. Thanks for doing it. Here's my band's stuff: BreezyGrass - iacmusic link Thanks!
  20. I haven't seen the guitar in question but I would say if it was indeed inlay - there is no cheap way to do it. Inlay can get expensive and I might be wrong but it is an art form in and of itself. I couldn't do it with out some lessons first. Good luck!
  21. 2k! Nice! I wish I had that problem. I actually have all the electrics I need - and need an good acoustic. I agree that you could pick up a nice guitar with that change. I would even say you could split it and get two decent guitars and have that much more versatility. I love Teles. And if I had the money I would get a nice sunburst one with the white binding that Pat plays. But I've played Les Paul's, SG's, PRS's. Each brand has its own sound and just like acoustics all guitars, even in the same family, have a different personality. So go out and play a ton and see what speaks to you. G
  22. Fantastic! Thanks for posting. Wish they had done some of this with the other guitar slingers. Pat's got a beautiful tele sunburst with white binding from what I've peeped on wilcoworld.net. Great stuff! I could have done with another hour of that.
  23. Nice shots! Good luck with the new camera! Looking forward to seeing some more photos!
