Just finished: Pretty good read. Nothing earth shattering. Just picked up: I'm a huge fan but am wary. Has anyone read it? It is a novel or just a collection of random thoughts/poems? And just got turned on to Nick Drake. Caught "A Skin Too Few" on my DVR and just was wowed! Don't understand how in 32 years I haven't known about this guy's work. Fantastic and right up my alley! The read is a little to UK with all the slang but helping to give some insight on the very short life of the man.

Easiest tickets ever! Got 4!!! Can no enjoy the rest of the day peacefully! Hope you'all do the same!

Awesome! He's our mandolin player in the band - SeaBee in the Navy, NYPD officer, and now works out of my office with 8th graders! Coolest guy I know! He bought the property up there after 9/11 to get away. And I've turned him into quite the Wilco fan!!! That breakfast place with the English muffin toast is outrageous! I'm sure you know it!

But seriously if they become infected its not something you want to get into. I had to have emergency surgery because they got infected and it ruined a good portion of a summer a couple of years ago. And I mean emergency surgery!!! Really bad stuff. But that being said - you did the right thing!!!! I have a room booked from that Thurs - Sun at the Holiday Inn. But my bandmate has a house in Cannan, NY and just asked me to get him tickets and stay in his really nice house on a mountain with his wife and me and my wife - so I might be giving up the reservations. That won't be to later on as w

I knew having my in laws in Pittsfield would pay off one day! And its my sister-in-laws birthday Aug 15th. My wife booked Thurs - Sun. at the Holiday Inn before I got home yesterday - and I just texted her the info for her reaction - me thinking it would be a stretch! Very cool! I missed both NJ shows - and this totally makes up for it. 2nded on that Holiday Inn. It is really nice actually and has a very nice bar with local brews on tap. It is also very accessible to local watering holes and restaurants...this summer just got a whole lot better! I'm in for a Via Chicago tent or a me

That's a cool moment. Congrats!

It certainly was up close and personal last night. A completely different war as opposed to the European Theater. Again, I'm going to have to re-watch the episode. Fantastic job by the production team. They really out do themselves.

Mr. Potter was right...It is a Wonderful Life!!! =P Happy St. Paddy's!

It must have been something else to have witnessed that for sure. I actually could envision the star spangled banner being written. It certainly came to mind. Obviously it being written before hand, but I would imagine a fight like that being much more amplified than what Scott Key witnessed. Wild stuff.

First episode thoughts: Certainly a more personal account of the war in a totally different theater to be sure. A complete and different feel that Band of Brothers. Different but in a very good sense. It seemed to me that the 52 minutes or so flew by in comparison to BoB which felt a epic in its episodes. I'm sure this will chance though as the series gets legs and starts to weave the stories from the different perspectives. When they were bedded down for the night bout 3/4 of the way through and the are watching the Naval battle at night was unreal. That must have been something to watc

Missed the first night! Can't wait to get home today and watch it. Damn power went out Saturday morning and didn't come back to 10pm last night. I couldn't make it to the encore at 11pm. Hopefully it's on demand today. Will post thoughts.....

I laughed out loud when they got into ordering the chocolate shake I have to admit. I will get to Chicago one of these days... -

I've never been to Chicago but plan on doing it someday soon....hopefully. Anyways - watching some mindless tv just now and caught Travel Channel's Extreme Fast Food and they spotlighted The Weiner's Circle. The place looks hilarious! Any of you locals heads been? Comparable to other weiner joints? -
I love the fact he stopped cause he wanted to hear it! Quality control at three...very cute!

Interesting article in the NYT that I found this morning. Like I had imagined The Pacific is going to focus more on the individual struggle of war as opposed to the unity found in Easy Company. Anyway, here's the link for a pretty good read: NYTimes - The Pacific

Didn't know all about the other releases and figured they were "new"! Little did I know - should have done my homework! Hoping to find a good book and just picked up the Gleam's, A Carolina Jubilee, and Emotionalism. Gonna give 'em a listen in just a little bit! Looking forward to it!

Are they worth picking up do you think? I've been seeing them add new BoB's every week. Just waiting to see if there is an overlap if they keep BoB's on and if its worth it to A/B it and watch both Theaters happen. I'm sure it will be - I have a vacation coming up and the wife is going away so I got some down time on my hands...

Just finished "Water For Elephants" and would recommend it as a quick read. Thought it was worthwhile. I find myself now in the unfortunate position of not having anything in my pile! Haven't been to the library in a little bit. Will have to scan back through here to beef up my queue....

If HBO has any wisdom they will allow both mini series to be available on their on demand so you can go back and forth. Two totally different arcs completely but I think that would be cool. I've read Stephen Ambrose's books. I see that the three main arcs of the Pacific are based off of three soldiers who were authors and wrote memoirs about their time in the Pacific Theater. I'll have to do more research. Ambrose's books are worth seeking out. If the Pacific has any of the history of ol' Easy Company we're in for it good!!!

Can't wait to check these out! Here's my band BreezyGrass covering a cover from the boys We worked up Jesus etc. We haven't really gotten it out there yet. We do a lot of originals but love to cover the good stuff! Nice cover - even better stache!!! Fantastic all around!

If its anything like Band of Brothers - which I'm sure it will be - it should be off the wall!

NR: Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen I have to say - I got right into it and think its a rather good book. I recommend it highly. The Story of Merge Records and Backbeat have just been added to my list. They both look right up my alley!

The Life & Times of Tim is outrageous! I'm so glad its back on! 2nd Season is off to a great start!!!
