  1. Now keep in mind I've never been to a Wilco show proper and come from a GDead backround but there's no brownies or "goo" balls out in the lots? It was a great great show. I did catch Pete leaving the auditorium to go back for the encore. He was sitting a few rows in front of us (we were in row L). Really cool.
  2. You're right! He is 90 and it was something to witness. My grandmother is 97 lives by herself and holds her own but this guy is onstage at 90? Blew my mind. It was special - I'm just greedy in that I wanted more Tweedy I guess...
  3. He was very aware of the children in the crowd I think. He would have shared more of his pop's "wisdom" had it been a bit more of an adult crowd. His banter was very funny though throughout.
  4. Got to Beacon early on in the day and hit the Museum across town. A really cool exhibit and a way to spend the afternoon. Then we went on to Main St. and hit up Max's on Main. We got their early and had lunch/dinner and quite a few pints. Before we knew it the bar was packed with, I imagine, peeps pre-gaming for the Tweedy show. We had prime real estate at a nice high round table but gave it up for the owner when he asked because other's were waiting and we were just having pints after eating. We were happy to do it and found a spot at the bar. The owner bought us a beer so in a way we were re
  5. Leaving now for Beacon!!!! Can't wait. Bringing the new digi kamera - hope to get some good shots. High School Aud - how hard can it be? Have a great day all!
  6. I'll have to wait then - I didn't read the fine print. No harm in waiting....
  7. I pre-ordered along with some other merch to get a free poster. Pretty good deal at wilcoworld.net. However, they are not shipping everything until April 15th? I am in contact with them stating I thought they'd send my other products and then send the DVD when it was released. Bad business on their end or am I wrong?
  8. My band BreezyGrass is playing Hank's Saloon in Brooklyn this Friday night at 10pm. Gonna be a good time down at this historic watering hole!!! Great stuff. If you're in the area come on by. If you need more info check out the link for the band down below the sig. If you come by I'm the guitar player in the glasses - say hello! Have a good week all!!!
  9. If you are into uke playing check out ukuleleunderground.com best place for all things ukes. Very comforting like VC is in some ways! Very very cool. Although rarely a mention of Wilco over there so I'm trying to balance that out! Lol!!!
  10. What song would you like to hear on the uke? I tried Via Chicago and it didn't work. I have heard that you could capo the uke so we'll see what comes of that. I just found out that I have to switch my low G to a high G. I'm gonna tackle Jake's version of "Gently Weeps". So we'll see how it goes. Played it out with my band on the 12....its up on myspace at the link below....BreezyGrass...not a good copy but I played it out!!!
  11. My buddy and I will be leaving NYC Saturday morning. Looking forward to it like you have no idea. I'm gonna do some searching in and around Beacon. We might be staying over if we can find a motel/hotel. If anyone has any good recommendations post it! A VC meetup?
  12. Thank you for the advice. We stuck to our guns and they came down $20k! So we are in contract! It worked out in the end and we are very excited!
  13. I'm halfway through Season II. Completely different from Season I. Its awesome where they take that show. Great writing, acting, and filming. I've seen the last two seasons so I'm watching in reverse - an interesting way to Just watched 30 Rock from this past Thursday. Has got to be one of the smartest written shows on tv. "Tracey Jr. ... George Forman..." Donagy is the whole show! Happy Saturday all!
  14. If it were only that simple. If they'd come down I'd fix everything the way I want it. Its not that the house is a shambles but it needs 3 major things to be improved the lead water main, water leakage by the front steps, & the floor needs to be up to code and it is not. I would buy it and fix it but not at the price we offered. The owner won't come down unfortunately. Back to the search!
  15. Well the inspection didn't go well. Our inspector is a really good friend and super qualified. He said that for what we offered and the problems that exist we're getting a bad deal. Now, we hope that the owners realize that they need to come down and we would buy the house. I don't know that they will though. Needless to say, the water main/pipe into the house is lead and we told the real estate agent to tell the people living there b/c there is a toddler living there. So its bad news - and its upsetting but if its meant to be its meant to be. Just means we either negotiate or continue our s
  16. This weeks episode killed. The opening with the Knock Knock jokes was utter hilarity! And Michael as Willy Wonka...priceless. I thought it was one of the better episodes of the season.
  17. Well we are in contract after some back and forth. Fortunately it is the house for us. We hope that all goes smoothly! Its not going to be a ball and chain. We didn't buy over our heads and it has room for expansion in the future. All good things! So now into the abyss that is the process of buying a house and then making it a home...
  18. Well we put in a bid and got countered with the owner only coming down $3,000. We'll see what happens. We upped our offer and should see some more bargaining tomorrow. A nail biting experience because dealing with Real Estate Agents I don't know if we're getting the whole truth. It is a learning experience thoug for sure. I'm really looking forward to Tweedy at Beacon NY on the 28th!!! First time seeing him/any Wilco personelle. Really needed stuff!
  19. Mine too! She cannot take that part of Misunderstood. And in reality, she doesn't really like Wilco - she feels its a bunch of noise. And sometimes I get her to dig some stuff. Not Misunderstood however. Skipping Record Song she calls it. Personally, I could do with a little less "nothings" - but I love the end part with the nicely picked acoustic over the band. Classic song.
  20. I like that they will be featured over an extended arc of episodes. That makes more sense and gives time to really flesh out the characters. Really looking forward to it - any premiere date as of yet? (I didn't look - its a lazy Monday!) =P
  21. Although I don't expect it to make me money it does allow me to build up some equity. It is better than renting in that I'm paying the bills toward something that ultimately I will own or something I can roll into if I need to expand. That was really what I meant. Anyways - as a bit of an update: we looked again at the house that we both like and have been pre-approved and plan on making a bit early this week. So that's exciting. We're going to come in low and hope to bargin and get it at a lower price that the asking price. Considering that I would have to remodel the upstairs and finish
  22. We do have the home inspector all lined up. We were actually only a handful of people invited to his recent wedding - very small. So we would trust him with anything. We're looking in Marine Park where I grew up and also in Gerritsen Beach. The home we really like is there so we're going to scope out the house and all that. My aunt and uncle live up the road so that's cool. Its a real tight knit community (almost too tight) and it, like many other hoods, has its pluses and minuses. So we'll see... I'm not too handy but have a lot of friends that I've helped out in the past. Mostly my free la
  23. Thank you all - it is quite the journey...lots of unexpected stuff I'm finding. Everything is expensive. It was a lot easier when we's was kids...the simpler times... We have a very close friend who is a top notch sought after home inspector...my father actually drove him from NYC to Albany to take the exam...so he'll certainly set us straight! The inspection is the most important part I think.
  24. I am in HGTV Hell!!!! Its all my wife watches....she's really feeling the need to nest I guess. I'm all for it and go along with the flow. Some of the shows are really informative and some are redonk! Unfortunately for us they are all nice cozy places that look awesome. Too bad they don't do Brooklyn! That's where we are buying. I'm not knockin my hood its just...ugh. And what some of the houses they get for the money in other parts of the country are pretty awesome. But then again as an educator I wouldn't be making the money as I am here in the NYC schools...but I digress...I'm in HGTV Hell!
  25. Well we are both in education. She teaches 9th Grade Physics and I'm a 7th Grade Dean of Students. . . so we are set in that regard. Talked to the mortgage banker today and it looks good for us as our credit scores are tip top. It is a good market it seems...
