  1. You've missed something here - Tweedy doesn't make the decisions. "Tweedy" didn't blow off the San Diego State Open Air Theater, "a great, non-notorious venue in San Diego." No offense, but I'm sure that High Road have items much higher on their priority list than responding to angry, whiny fans about a show not getting close enough to them. hilarious! and the undisputed truth. waaaaaah. i'm done on this topic.
  2. THANK YOU!!!!! For expanding upon what I said. Seriously. Folks need to educate themselves a little bit more about how tours work before they start their belly-achin' and cryin' about not getting a show that's "close enough." Quit thinking about yourselves so much and try thinking about what Wilco has to do to put bread on the table and pay the bills. It's not the record sales, I'll tell y'all that much. This tour is NOT over either - it's gonna continue on and you'll all likely get a shot at Wilco playing your BBQ or neighborhood block party. JerseyMike, you da man.
  3. C'mon people, are we really gonna start this up again? To call Wilco anti-fan is just ridiculous. Hope you all have enjoyed the countless free downloads, the roadcase, webcasts and access to other materials. Wilco doesn't have to give away so much stuff - but they know the advantages of doing so, in terms of building an audience. You're not going to get much sympathy here about having to drive [long] distances to see shows. A large chunk of Wilco fans are rabid enough that they're going to make the trip, wherever they have to go, just to see them. This subject has been beaten to death
  4. I received the exact same e-mail [it said June 22] and I received my LP/CD combo today. I live in Kansas City, MO.
  5. perhaps they should do some research. Nels Cline definitely didn't play on AGIB, but joined the band for the tour to promote it.

  7. man, i hope mine comes soon. my SBS vinyl came early. for those of you who can't abstain any longer, got an e-mail from NPR today w/a link to a stream of W(TA): http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=105858495&sc=nl&cc=asc-20090626
  8. all of them, except for YHF and AGIB. A.M. has Jeff w/long hair, holding the acoustic guitar w/Wilco inscribed on the fretboard and the band behind him. Being There has shots of each of the members in the studio. There's the Summerteeth pics you referenced (and on the inside of the liner notes) as well as the SBS shots you referenced. I don't know about the Mermaid Avenue ones [even though they're not "official" Wilco releases] b/c I only purchased them digitally. Kicking Television has some shots of the group too...
  9. Oops...sorry admins/moderators. Didn't mean to try and start a new topic...thought this one was over. *According to Billboard/AP, Jay Bennett's death was due to an overdose on painkillers. http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/ex-wilco-member-jay-bennett-died-of-overdose-1003986858.story

  11. setlist!?!?! i'm in KC but i'm going to the red rocks show and am checking the setlists for every show...starting to geek out about what they're gonna play. whatever it is, it will melt my face.
  12. I hate to be a stickler, but the song is called "Reservations," not "No Reservations." That's not nearly as bad as the super-fan who in another post called "Impossible Germany" - "Incredible Germany." It's all good.
  13. Pomona opener will be Jonathan Wilson. Wilco's website, www.wilcoworld.net, is an amazing tool for discovering these bits of information. Okervill River is opening 6/25 - 7/03. Red Rocks baby!!!
  14. You are a miserable failure. Just kidding. Pandora has been around for quite some time now, actually. Other good sites for hearing music are Lala.com and blip.fm. The latter is like Twitter, but with songs AND 140 character messages. It's completely addicting - build a profile and become a DJ, start finding songs and 'blipping' them [like tweeting] and connect with other DJs, find new music, etc. Plenty of Wilco on there, including some rare tracks, like "Burned." http://blip.fm. It's awesome.
  15. jeff does play a tele - he had a strat last night!?!!?
  16. many thanks. i too have found that some SBD recordings are just ok. there are others that aren't marked soundboard that end up sounding pretty decent...
  17. hearing all of these old shows w/jay bennett has been a real treat (and will continue to be) in the last few weeks. what about a post/thread about the best post-bennett shows? there's so much stuff on Owl & Bear (thanks guys) and some of it is stellar, and some recordings aren't very good - a lot to sift through. any comments?
  18. i'm picking up a bit of sarcasm here. i hope. amidst all of this discussion, let's not forget that everyone in wilco also has gigs outside of wilco, both performing and recording.
  19. ??? um, according to the website, this show is not sold out. just get them online.
  20. yeah - no kidding! have you been to a wilco show lately? does it look like a bunch of snobby $100K+ folks to you? if so, it must have been a different wilco show than the ones i've seen.
  21. Oh - and just to add, my wife and I are hitting up the Red Rocks show in July. As I stated, we live in KCMO. Yes, it's a long trip [and a wallet vampire], but it's what I'm willing to do to see my favorite band and support them. It's the least I could do after all that they've given to their fans. Wilco will still love you baby.
  22. I saw wilco in Kansas City, MO in 2006 and luckily, again in 2007. I've also driven to Lincoln and Tulsa for Jeff Tweedy shows, in 2007 and 2008, respectively. Well worth the price of tickets, gas money, hotels, etc. I understand how it can be frustrating, but folks have to realize that there are so many other people in the same situation. Moreover, Wilco (as in the band members themselves) aren't the ones who plot out where they're going to play. It's not their job - that's what the management and touring/booking agents do. Wilco's job is to show up and melt faces, not study maps and sp
  23. just to add a note on the 10-30-1997 show (which i was listening to this afternoon in the car on my lunch break), there is some jaw-dropping banter from tweedy in the show. for example, bob egan was running his lap steel & pedal steel through some effects pedals and had come up with a sound that tweedy clearly didn't care for: "bob? what's that pedal? make that sound again...[egan plays a few licks] >> ok, yeah. don't ever do that again. not in wilco. you can give that to whiskeytown. how much did that cost? $400? ok, you'll probably get that back. just don't use it in wi
  24. those aren't in the owl & bear archive. where does one find/hear those? easily accessible?
