Considering he wouldn't play it all last year, it sounded really good. I don't know why he hates it on acoustic. And he did do the leg kick on the bridge.

Pretty good show. Had a different vibe than last year, but still good nonetheless. I'm looking forward to hearing the recording (get to work Warner! ).

I live right around the corner from the Vic, and walk to Pat's a lot. It's about a 15-minute walk. From Pat's, walk up Seminary (north) to Wellington (at Diversey Seminary continues a little to the West), take a right (east) on Wellington, and take a left (north) on Sheffield up to the Vic. God, I love Pat's.

This is something that I've been harping on for a long, long time. But to suggest that Detroit, and most of the surrounding area (hell, even most of the state), needs to move beyond its reliance on the automotive industry and what it provided is taboo. People don't want to hear it. The automotive industry built the town and, damn it, it will continue to sustain it. Part of the problem is that, unlike other major cities in the midwest, everyone moved out in the late 70's and early 80's. What you have left is a stagnant, self-loathing populace that wants nothing but the status quo because,

I've always maintained that Detroit is more crooked than Chicago, which says a lot. This quote from a resident should tell you all you need to know as to why Detroit will never, ever change:

The Kirkwood has become my pub of choice (although I love Vaughn's -- I just stopped going there because it's small and the smoke killed me). It's only 3 blocks south of the Vic, and you can actually see the line forming.

It's too bad the shows aren't in warmer months, because I'd recommend Moody's Pub beforehand for the beer garden and burgers. I used to love hanging out there in warm weather.

Wow, I would put all those guys are first-ballot HOFers.

Hey Louie, is Thai Spice on Devon (just west of Sheridan) still open? I used to love that place and want to take my wife there as she's just discovered Thai cuisine. If you haven't tried it, it's really good.

Well, Laval Lukas Perry transferred last week, and Beilin's class for next year isn't all that bad. So I wouldn't say he'd be the only good player.

Radiohead (sort of) Announce American Tour

They played a lot of outdoor venues in 2003, and probably want to do so this time around as well. The only conceivable outdoor venue in or around the Detroit area is the old Pine Knob (DTE) . . . and it sucks because it's dominated by corporate season-ticket holders. The closest WASTE could get to distributing tickets would be the 20th row. The Pearl Jam shows there in 2003 were a disaster. -
I would think that would be attractive to him. He would actually get to play significant minutes and probably star.

Not to sidestep HOF talk, but it looks like things are heating up between the Cubs and Baltimore along the Brian Robers front which may pave the way for a Erik Bedard deal. So far the asking price is Sean Marshall, Sean Gallagher, and Ronnie Cedano. Personally, I think that's too high of a price for the Cubs considering their 4-5 starts are projected to be Jason Marquis (who didn't even make the playoff roster last year (or the year before)) and Ryan Dempster (who hasn't started in 3 years). If any of those guys break down, the Cubs are screwed. And I'm not sure the slight upgrade you'd ge

Tax money, plain and simple. Each state feels that it'll never be able to stop them, so it may as well make their own money on them.

So would I. Rob Neyer's got some pretty good points about his Hall considerations, as well as Rice's. Interestingly, one of the people that he thinks is most deserving is Trammell.

"As expected?" Where did you hear this? I knew that he was strongly considering Michigan because of Dick Rod, but I didn't know that it was that serious. If so, that would be a huge blow to OSU as he was almost certain to go there before Dick Rod left to go to Michigan.

That's exactly what I suggested. It's cheap (relatively speaking), and it's nice. I send my parents there when the wife and I don't want them staying with us. The one problem is that the Diversey el stop is closed for repairs. It's a healthy walk to the next closest red-line stop at Belmont, or the brown line at Wellington (at which case you'll have to transfer at Belmont anyway).

I meant polls in general, both pre-election and exit polls. They can't be trusted, and this thing just proved it again. By the way, the AP just called NH for Hillary.

If Florida 2000 didn't convince people, perhaps this New Hampshire primary will convince people not to place so much emphasis and trust on polling data.

Nah, that's April . . .

It was 65 degrees here yesterday!

That's all I know is, if Clemens is telling the truth and he did get injected with Vitamin K and painkillers, then he should have had a prescription for the painkillers and, presumably, there should be a paper trail to prove it. My guess is that we'll never see one.

OSU and Oklahomo should be banned from BCS games . . .

Oh, there's no way he makes it . . . but he should.
